Thanks for that Kevin. And yes everything great up here as long as you just ignore the blizzard that's going on outside.

I am concerned if the movement and the vibrations of the boat would make it hard to use a tripod. I would like to go out one night on the ship just for night photography. As for WDW I always bring it. You can often find me lugging around both my camera backpack full of gear and my tripod bag.

Last November while shooting in Epcot many people had mistaken me for a photopass photographer. I think it's the tripod that was confusing them. You should see the looks on their faces when I tell them I'm not...lol :rotfl: Just a photo geek with a tripod.....

Dave, I'm not much of a photographer, but I agree with Kevin. It just may be a bit much weight wise. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Okay, now I think that I am caught up.

Disneyland was great. Everyone kept predicting rain, but DH and I decided that as long as we had an umbrella with us, there would be no rain while we were at the parks. And there was none!!!

I will have to remember to go to DL in February more often. The lines are much shorter because of fewer people (still crowded, just not as bad). And the weather was great. Not to hot, not to cold, just right.

We went to DL on Thursday and the longest line that we had to wait in was Indiana Jones which was 30 minutes. We were going to do a fast pass for there but decided that the 30 minute wait was not to long.

In fact the only fast passes that we got were for Space Mountain on Thursday and Saturday, and Soarin' on Friday at CA.

Most of the rides were 10 minutes or less of a wait with most of the time spent actually walking from the entrance of the ride to the boarding of it.

Because we are both pretty familiar with DL and CA, we were able to see and do everything that we wanted and then some. I thought that if we rode Star Tours one more time I was just going to go bonkers. But, DH loves it, so what the heck. We also did Buzz Lightyear several times. Rode Pirates and it's a small world a couple of times as well.

We have decided that after about 7:30-8:00 is the best time to try to ride rides multiple of times. It seems that folks start lining up for either the evening parade or the firework show around that time, which makes for some relatively short lines.

I think we rode almost everything that we could in Fantasyland and tomorrowland that we wanted to ride. I don't know why, but Peter Pan seems to ALWAYS be crowded.

The rides that were down that I remember were the Matterhorn and the Riverboat. I know there were a couple of others, but those were the ones that we wanted to ride, but they were closed.

I even was able to catch Princess Tiana's Celebration. That was very nice and Princess Tiana was beautiful as was that dress. Makes me want to go out and have one made just for me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:! We saw Cinderella over at CA and my DH commented that she looks just like a mannequin, especially when she was posing for picture. Moving, she looked a little more alive and real.

Everyone must catch the Aladdin show over at CA. This is a wonderful show and full of laughs.

As for food, we ate at the Plaza Inn the first night and split our dinner, which was perfect. The food was tasty, about what you would expect for that type of place. We also split a meal at Taste Pilot Grill. Those ribs were delicious. I am sure my DH wished he could have had my as well as his.

We ate, for the first time, at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland hotel. That was a very upscaled restaraunt. The food was great if a tad bit pricey. But as long as DH was happy, that is all that really mattered to me.

And of course, we had to stop in a the Blue Bayou. That was just as we remembered.

I highly recommend making reservations and arriving a few minutes before your reservations time. That makes all the difference. We were seating within minutes of our arrival which was a few minutes before our scheduled time.

I can go on and on, but I will stop for now. If anyone have any other questions, just let me knw.

Thanks for sharing - I'm getting excited!!!

We are heading there this weekend for three days!

Wow, just missed you. I just found out that one of my dear friends was there at the same time that we were celebrating her b-day. I was supposed to have called her that day to wish her a happy b-day, but we were running around so much, that I forgot :sad1:. That would have great to see her. And, it turns out that we just were just missing each other, too. Oh well. She and I will go some other time this year.

I hope that you all have a great time. Be sure to make dining ressies if you want to dine anyplace in particular.

I have been waiting for us to get to the 8 month mark, and now I realize that we are now under that!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I think that in April, I will start getting the FE exchange organized. So, again, if you would like to participate, please let me know so that I can add you to the list.

Also, because folks like to do age specific gifts, if you are comfortable with, let me know that names and ages of your kids. I will make sure that only those who are participating have access to the list.

I asked this on the DCL POTD thread but thought I would ask it here as well

Will I have need for my tripod on our upcoming cruise?? Or would it better to just to bring some fast glass and handhold all the shots.

Your opinions please.

Thank you

SHHHH! Don't ask DH!! EVERY, and I mean EVERY, time we pack to go to WDW he puts this 3' telescoping tripod in the suitcase. Somehow it just JUMPS back out of the suitcase. :rolleyes1 So he bought this crazy leggy - bendy tripod thing that he whinds around the stroller handle but it could not hold the weight of an SLR. :yay: I totally agree with Kevin - solely a weight issue. DH would tell you wrap it in bubble wrap, pack it, then ship it back with souveniers.

Then again, it is like Brenda's umbrella - you bring it you won't need it, you don't bring it you will find a daily need for it, then give yourself a V8! I have seen you pics - AMAZING! I believe memories are priceless, bring it if you think you need it for "the shot". :thumbsup2

Yes, Sandy, you are correct. I was thinking of holding off for a while to see about how many folks actually join. But, now I am thinking that we may need to start sooner because there are so many folks. Any ideas on how to break the groups up? But the more important question is when to start this? I wanted to give all a chance to participate. But what about the late comers? And for that matter what would constitute an late comer? Just some of my questions.

Oh, and the list will not be posted on the thread, it will be emailed as some folks like limited disclosures of their names and/or staterooms.

Honestly, this is my first rodeo. I only know what I have read on DIS about FE's. The others could give you more insight on how many to a group, etc. How to break them up - doesn't really matter to me. I have started to save things for all ages. The only thing I would suggest (and request) is maybe a guide for what things are age appropriate. For instance, having DD 2 and DD 3, I KNOW what toddler/preschool girls would like on a cruise. If I had say a 10 yo boy or a teenager on my list - I have no idea what they would enjoy. It is also nice to have the list ASAP so we can catch the sales and for the crafters, they would have more time. Late comers - have a cut off date, Sept 23 (30 days prior - a month before everyone is getting themselves ready). Let's say a group is 10 cabins. Once the last group is over 5 that is a group, under 5 - spread them out into the other groups. These are only suggestions, good ones I hope. :confused3

Just wanted to throw in a reminder - I remember reading a thread on FE gifts. The little bottles of alcohol (airplane size) were given as gifts in the FE. Some folks objected because the just didn't want them or the teenager in the cabin got to them first. :scared1: Is there a questionaire that maybe a yay or ney on alcohol type gifts can be inserted?

Yep, email is the way to go or Kevin's yahoo database which I believe is password protected. Didn't think about keeping info private. :thumbsup2

I am glad you and hubby had a great time in DL! I can't wait to go there someday. Just read this week thru a Disney grapevine blog that Iger had thought of a bicoastal AP 2 years ago and it is rumored that he agreed to make it available sometime this year with a discount to DVC members. We will see how much that will cost!

Hope this finds all well. Yep...Yep...Yep...we have a web site on Yahoo Groups for 'just us'. This is by invitation ONLY!! It's a great enhancement to 'The DIS'...we continue 'talking' on this thread...and store/share information on the web site. Below is a screen shot of our 'Home Page'. As you see on the left (shaded blue box), we can; add files (word – power point – excel – Adobe), insert links, upload photos and photo albums, register in databases, answer polls and put important dates in the calendar section. Please…feel free to poke around…review and add information. I recommend starting with the database section. If you want a new database or poll…just ask – it can be in place very quickly.

At this point…the ability to post messages in Yahoo Groups has been disabled. I made this decision based on past experience. IMHO – it’s best we keep ‘taking’ via this wonderful discussion forum on The DIS – keeping it simple. If all decide you want this feature activated…I can make the change.

I’d be happy to send you an invite to review – enjoy…and hopefully participate. This is a great tool. If everybody shares, we ALL win. If you would like an invite, click on the below e-mail link…this will open a separate window as blank e-mail message – already addressed to my home and work ISP. NOTE - if it won't automatically open paste/copy the below e-mail addresses into a new e-mail. Just include…the e-mail address you want your invite sent to.

kevin.smith@appl.ge.com;d_Isigny@msn.com

Or...send me a Private Message -

After I process your invite…you will receive an e-mail from Yahoo Groups. The e-mail you will receive – will look like:
From: Seven_Days_of_Magic_Sailing_to_the_Saints moderator
Subject: Invitation to join the Seven_Days_of_Magic_Sailing_to_the_Saints group

finally...here's the screen shot of our site.

Thanks Sandy

Size and weight is not an issue. I will most likely pack it just in case..... You never know when you might need it. Besides then your hubby could use it as well...lol

Thanks everybody!!

Hey Kevin could you send me an invite to the yahoo page. I believe you have my email.

Thanks

Hi, Sandy. Love your ideas. I don't know that we have enough to break the children down into groups. There are quite a few us traveling without children but are looking forward to buying things for those children who are traveling.

What I think that I will do is go by cabins. Start from the top of the list and work down, keeping in mind that we want to balance it out so that the first 10 cabins or so don't have 50 people and the last 10 have only 25 people.

The cut off date will probably be a week after the final payment due date which will be about August 16th. That should give folks plenty of time to buy/finish FE and gifts.

The folks here would probably love sharing ideas about what would be appropriate for the particular age groups. And I agree about the alcohol. Not only do you have to worry about the kids whose cabins the alcohol was left for, there are always those little (and big) bugga-boos who go around taking gifts out of FEs that don't belong to them.

Anyway, let me know what you think about that. I am going work on the groups now.

Thanks, Kevin.

For those of you who wish to participate in the FE gift exchange, please post here or pm me with exactly who is in your party. For example, there are several groups that only list the number of people in the party. It makes it easier to give out gifts if folks know what age/gender the receipient is.

Please sign up ASAP, but no later than August 16th. That is about one week after the final payment due date. I figure most anyone going will have booked by then.

Also, there are quite a few new comers to DCL cruising and they would like help/ideas with what would be appropriate for particular age/gender of children (i don't think folks will have too much trouble with what to do for adults). So, please pass along some ideas/suggestions.

Since there seems to be so many birthdays and anniversaries being celebrated on this cruise, I think that it would be nice if we had a party on one of the sea days. That could be one of our cruise meets. What is everyone's thought about this? I will make a seperate list of celebrating.

And last, where and when would you all like the first cruise meet to be?

That's it for now.

Okay, I have been do some checking and I think that Monday, an at sea day, would be a good day to have a celebration party. I say Monday because the other 2 at sea days are formal and semi-formal night. It seems that the party would be more fun, relaxing and a lot less stressful if it were on a sea day that wasn't also a formal night.

What say you all?

+1 for Monday!! :cool1:

I think that sounds good. Last year we had a PJ Breakfast on the last morning (Castaway Cay). I think that was the only morning we could get. It would be nice if we could meet early in the cruise.

I think that it is good to meet earlier rather than later. I would like to have an intial meet on the first day, maybe after the sail-away party or lifeboat drill.
