1) Anybody else going to the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival this year?
2) Any other DVC Members?
3) Anybody going to WDW pre-cruise?![]()
Sounds like a really fun itinerary! I read that Port Orleans Riverside is really nice. I myself would love to either stay at Floridian like you or the Polynesian. But the last couple of times we went, we ended up staying off property.
We just put out deposit down on a Sept 20th today for a 4 night cruise this afternoon. The current plan is to go a few days early, stay off property again for a couple of nights and try to make MNSSHP. We went last year and had a great time. Thought we would do it again this year. I have all this in my head, so now I have to start working on getting this into a real itinerary.
DisneyLand. We haven't been there in a years. We've got to make it there. My family is in northern CA and have some very close family friends in LA. Sounds like time for a visit next spring to get me through the wait for our Serenity Cruise.
I think "Gilroy Brenda" should be "Strawberry Brenda"![]()

Hi Everyone...we just almost booked...LOL....I still have to pay the deposit..hee hee
I'm Lisa...and I will be traveling with my two daughters, Ireland and
Alexis..Ireland will be 9 at the time of travel and Alexis will be 7.
We went on a cruise...7 night Western last November and a 4 night before that. Since we don't have passports and all of that Jazz, I figured booking WAY far out will give us enough time to save some spending money and for mom to drop a few pounds LOL. Nice to meet you all and I look forward to chatting along the way.

2) We own at SSR
3) We are going out 3 days prior to the cruise![]()
Hi, Linda. I am glad that you were able to get a 4-day cruise in this year. I want to stay at all of the resorts, with maybe exception of the value resorts.
I will probably end up at Disneyland in the not to distance future.
That is much better than "Garlic Brenda". Isn't Gliroy, the garlic capital? We will see what she comes up with. But I like "Strawberry Brenda".
We are doing WDW before the cruise for 4 days? Anyone else doing a pre-cruise at WDW.
Hi, Lisa. Welcome aboard. This will be my first ever 7-day cruise. I can't wait. Fortunately, I have a land/sea vacation coming up in August, so it will make the wait a little more bareable. Look forward to chatting with you.
I will add you all to the main cruise post.
Hi, Russ. Are you all staying at WDW and if so, which resort? We are going to be at the Port Orleans Riverside. Maybe we will run into you all there.

Just wanted to give this thread a little bumb and say that I have only 25 days before we leave for WDW. We will be there for 8 full days and nine nights. Once I return and recover from this trip then I can begin to more fully take part in the planning on this thread. Anyone besides me plan to fly in the day before and stay the day at the MCO Hyatt? Anyone want to plan a short meet for the night before or maybe an early breakfast the day of? Talk more later, Lois

Lois, have a great trip. Drink lots of water in that heat! We will stay in Cape Canveral the night before. Last time we stayed at the Radisson and the kids loved the pool area. Our friends just moved there so we might just stay with them. We'll see.

Hi, Sandy. Thanks and Happy Memorial Day to you, too. Yes, we are settling in fairly well. We finally bought new furniture for the living room and dining room area. I know what you mean about moving. I don't want to do this again anytime soon.
How do you move from warm Florida to Massachusetts, I don't know. I can't imagine moving from California to anywhere where the temperature got below 30 degrees for any length of time![]()

Congratulations....i'm from Iowa & very familiar with Ia State & the city of Ames as i worked there for many years...i also know what you mean about college & 'sticker shock' - my DS will be starting this August - a small private college Univ of the Pacific. But DH & I love all they have to offer & feel that it's def a great investment!!!Appears we have some new persons joining us...WELCOME!!
IMHO - it's never too early to start planning. That's how I take my virtual Disney vacations.
St. Maarten/Marten (my girls called it 'Saint Marty') - I'd recommend an excursion to include the Butterfly Farm. I, personally...thought it was over-priced...quite a distance for such a small place - quick tour. But...my DD's loved it (3.5, 6.5 & 9.5 y/o when we went).
St. Thomas - you've always got the sky ride (tram - a short walk past the shopping area). Now...we've never taken this...prob won't. For about the same $$$ (or a little more) you can hire a driver and see more of this island.
We are not --- follow the crowd type of people. So...take this for what it's worth. I like hiring a driver to take us for a tour of the islands. These people live there...know what 'we' like seeing...can make great suggestions.
Living in Az...we are land locked. So...any time we can get on a beach...WE ARE THERE. Orient Beach on St. Maarten is breathtaking (Nan calls it...'The fluffy sand beach'). We love Magens Bay in St Thomas. As well as, I'm planning on some leasure time at Mountian Top (maybe a second banana flavored - adult beverage). Here's a photo I took from Mountain Top...on our last trip

You're in great company (again...IMHO). I get soooo much 'stuff' from friends and co-workers about my love for all things Disney. I keep telling them...I could have a worse 'mid-life' crisis. Today...my co-workers played a prank on me...they took/hid my Mickey Mouse (and friends) McDonalds happy meal toys. I gotta stick with a better class of friends...like you guys.
Well...it's late...time to turn in. I'm taking the next 4 days off of work (except my part time job on Sunday) to spend time with my youngest DD. I'm really looking forward in our time together. My bride and oldest two DD's left this morning for Iowa. The team they are active with is participating at Odyssey of the Mind - world finals - at Iowa State University. They earned the right to participate by winning 2nd place in regional and state finals. I'm very excited for them and hopeful that they will place well in the judging - knowing...teams from around the world will be competing. Have to say...I'm very proud of their hard work and dedication. And...my oldest is starting to discuss college (someone get another band-aid for my wallet)...it'll be great to hear of her experience...staying in a dorm...eating at the cafeteria...exploring the grounds etc. Well...maybe not the school cafeteria part...as shes a strict vegetarian...and prob suffering a little.
now that's a great idea...i like that btr than "gilroy brenda" for sure!!!I think "Gilroy Brenda" should be "Strawberry Brenda"![]()

Checking in, WOW, did I miss a lot.
Brenda-my husband got a great job offer in Boston and had 2 weeks to move. Our next door neighbor's sister walked over, I thought to say Hi because we had never met and she asked to buy our house. My husband and I were actually getting in the car to see a relator. We sold some furniture and my husbands car that same weekend. Thank you Jesus! When we got to Boston, we found out I was pregnant. Now 4 years later, we are very blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. Yes, still adjusting to the cold temps. I can't seem to wrap my brain around the fact that there are days that inside our freezer is warmer then outside! Look on the bright side, we have an outdoor freezer for 3 months!!![]()
Regards to the 3 questions, no to 1 and 3 but YES! we are DVC members. Home base is Bay Lake Towers, BLT as we call it. Love the monorail access with strollers. (Strollers have to be collapsed on buses. Try juggling 2 kids going in separate directions plus all the stuff while collapsing the stroller!) We signed up so we can get in a Disney vacation while seeing the grandparents and we have a washer/dryer on vacation! Most of our family is in FL. When we signed up this past December, Mickey Mouse was kind enough to put the down payment for us and they gave us this cruise for free. Of course, never having been on a cruise I went into instant plan mode and read somewhere to be careful your room is not under the dance club. Wouldn't you know that is where our room was located!! So, I called and upgraded to cat 6. That we had to pay for which is fine, considering.
Excursions - I am REALLY hoping to get the swim with the dolphins excursion. Is that in St Thomas?
Does anyone know the order of capt's night, pirate night...what night is what?
Do we need to bring anything for the special nights like extra pirate gear?
Did I mention, Brenda, that we too are celebrating our youngest daughter's bday? Sophia will be 3 and able to go to Oceaneers Club. YEAH, rare freetime with DH!!My husband and I will also be celebrating our 20 year anniversary. (I was a child bride
)) It is actually in May but worth celebrating.
I forgot to mention, I asked Natalie from the Creative DISign board (donatalie) to make us a logo for our Serenity NOW cruise. Natalie does AMAZING work and I am very excited and anxious to see what she creates for us. I will post it over here when she gets it done.![]()
