Congratulations....i'm from Iowa & very familiar with Ia State & the city of Ames as i worked there for many years...i also know what you mean about college & 'sticker shock' - my DS will be starting this August - a small private college Univ of the Pacific. But DH & I love all they have to offer & feel that it's def a great investment!!!

now that's a great idea...i like that btr than "gilroy brenda" for sure!!!

Just home a few days ago from Disneyland's Grad Night - what A FUN night that was with DS & 57 of his classmates AND a few thousand other 17-19 y/o's.....only saw Mickey once & not one other character...but now all the graduation excitement & hub-bub is over - can concentrate on DD's wedding...

Okay, so, "Strawberry Brenda" it is.

Just wanted to give this thread a little bumb and say that I have only 25 days before we leave for WDW. We will be there for 8 full days and nine nights. Anyone besides me plan to fly in the day before and stay the day at the MCO Hyatt? Anyone want to plan a short meet for the night before or maybe an early breakfast the day of? Talk more later, Lois

Ooooohh...25 more sleeps...that's when I start bouncing off the walls. Good luck keeping under control (better than this big kid). Can't wait to hear about your wonderful vacation.

Nan and I are hoping to fly in wednesday or thursday. Current plan is to stay on-site and tour the parks - "hop-till-we-drop - commando style". Meeting up sounds great...we may need to delay this until port.

Excursions - I am REALLY hoping to get the swim with the dolphins excursion. Is that in St Thomas?

Does anyone know the order of capt's night, pirate night...what night is what?
Do we need to bring anything for the special nights like extra pirate gear?

yes...the dolphin excursion is during our time in St Thomas. This is pretty much a full day tour (7.5 hours) and a little pricey. It appears you get time with the dolphins and a tour of the island of Tortola. It sound pretty cool.

The girls all returned safely from Iowa with some wonderful stories. Am grateful for this blessing. It appears Odyssey of the Mind finals was a great experience for the entre team - they're already talking about - next year.

Best wishes for you and your DS as he starts this Summer. Sure would love to hear about his experiences in a smaller/private college. My oldest really liked a small 'faith based' university here in Phoenix - Grand Canyon.

Grad night at DL...glad you went and had a great time.

Wedding...wedding...WOW...you've got a few things going on. Best wishes.

I forgot to mention, I asked Natalie from the Creative DISign board (donatalie) to make us a logo for our Serenity NOW cruise. Natalie does AMAZING work and I am very excited and anxious to see what she creates for us. I will post it over here when she gets it done.

OUTSTANDING!!! I've seen some of Natalie's work...this is exciting.

Well...hope all have great plans for the weekend. k

Sophia's bday is on the 19th of October.

Yes, the dolphin thing is expensive but we have a year to save. We have 2 water babies that have a tantrum just to get them out of the bath tub. Haha, I can't wait to see their faces when there is a dolphin in the water :rotfl2:. Priceless!! Hopefully if won't fill up and we will be able to sign up for it.

We will be staying a day before and a day after the cruise at BLT. There is a (Magic?) bus taking us to the Port. I am pretty sure no charge because we are staying on Disney property. Meet for breakfast at Chef Mickey's or Ohana? Dinner on the 22nd might be easier.

You will need to check, we are staying at SSR, I was told there was a fee. On our last cruise we rented a car and drove to the port because there was 4 of us. Thrifty car rental has a shuttle from their office in Cape Canaveral to the ship. Getting back to WDW I rented another one way rental, they picked me up at the ship.

Orlanr,

It is a "Small World" isn't it! LOL!! We will be celebrating out 10 year wedding anniversary on this cruise. My husband LOVES anything and everything Disney as do I. I can't wait to meet both of you and everyone else on this board. :) :cool1:

Hi, Linda. We are doing a land/sea package, 4-day land, 3-day sea. We are pretty much done with the planning just need to book transportation to/from LAX. We have Palo reservations, excursions and spa treatments already scheduled. We also have made ADR for the parks. Thus far we are planning to have dinner at Coral Reef, Boma, Crystal Palace, and Cape May Cafe. We will probably do a character breakfast at Cape May as well.

The resort that we are staying at is the Port Orleans Riverside. I am trying to try a new resort with every visit, with the hopes of eventually staying at the Grand Floridian.

Hey Brenda -

Flying out of LAX, are you planning on a side trip to Disneyland?

Your ADR's sound fantastic. Of those, we've done Coral Reef and Boma. Boma is FANTASTIC!!! Hope you plan on budging some time to enjoy AKL. This resort is ONE OF A KIND!!!

Port Orleans Riverside is a great choice. We stayed there a few nights after our Jan 2000 cruise. The resort is HUGE!! I'd suggest doing some research and request a room that is close to the food court. For our stay...the room was in the back by the secondary bus stop. It was a LONG walk to the food court – not my favorite memory. But...the grounds are incredible.

I'm with you...Grand Floridian has been on my 'bucket list' for years. One of these days – prob not this trip. This trip will prob only offer 1 or 2 days before cruising...so...we’ll ‘hop – till – we – drop’ touring the parks – commando style.

Looking forward in hearing how fantastic your trip was. k

Hi, Kevin. No, my DH and I just went to Disneyland a couple of months ago. We go every so often.

My trip in 2004, my niece and I ate at the Coral Reef and Boma. I do agree with you; both are fantastic!!. Yes, we plan to try to get to Boma a little early to check out the lodge. Another one of my "to-do resorts".

We are not really that interested in being near the food court. We plan to do breakfast in our rooms and then we are on the dining plan. We plan to eat at the parks for almost all of our meals. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I will keep you all posted.

Just checking in. So we are planning a surprise trip over Thanksgiving for a week with the kids. I was really excited about it until DH starting mentioning driving. UGH! We HAVE to go over thanksgiving break. No way around that. We usually like to go off season. Airfare around that week is awful so we are looking at the drive. 14.5 hours ick. My kids are squirmy. Trying to convince myself all the magic wil be worth it. We figure transportation costs if we fly and rent will be at least $1300. We still have to fly one kid in but that shouldn't be over $200.

We are going at that time too. Last year we paid $59 each way. We came down on the Thurs. before T-day and left on T-day (very quiet and calm in the airport).

We have our flights home on Airtran at $59, just waiting for SW to open up.

Hi, Anjelica, Welcome aboard. How great it is that there are quite a few folks on this cruise who already know each other. I can't wait to meet you all. I will add you to the list.

That must have been quite an experience. If I can get my DH to go to WDW again, I am sure that something that he would like to do.

I think it will be Saratoga Springs. Any FB's out there?

only a 10th??? :lmao:

DS is off to his orientation this weekend - he spends two full days at UOP (with DH)..i'm going to see WICKED with DD...so the boys are on their own this trip

Hey, Brenda, there is something flying around in my head saying this Coral Reef diving adventure is no longer available, but I'm not sure why I'm thinking that. It would be really, really cool, though. My hubby and daughters would probably love it.

You can add us (Sue and John) to the list. We just contacted Dreams Unlimited for a quote for this cruise last night. This will be our third 7-night Eastern cruise. We were on the inaugural 7-night cruise way back in 2000 and are looking forward to a return visit to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Our good friends Karen and Glenn are joining us on the cruise to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. Karen used to post on the DIS as "firelady". More details to follow as soon as we hear more from DU.

Hi, Sue and John, Welcome aboard. We may have to make this a reunion cruise. There seems to be so many people going who have already cruise together before. That will just make the cruise that more enjoyable. I will add you all to the main cruise page.

Glad to have you aboard.
