10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Starting to think about what to pack...with luggage space at a premium, I don't want to take dressy if I need casual or casual if I need dressy(dining???)
Since this is our first disney cruise, I need a little help..Please:confused:
Maybe a little early to start but it's coming fast and got CRUISING on my mind 24/7:yay:
Never too early. My suitcases have been upstairs for the past month as I learn the art of, "packing light." :rolleyes1

Well, being a guy it is a little easier for me, but I always pack with a color scheme in mind and have it so I can mix and match shirts with pants to try and cut down.

As for dressy vs. casual, I think there is only one formal/dress-up optional night on the 4 night cruises. But as mentioned, if you go to Palo or Remy, you will need some dressier clothes.

DW used to pack "heavy". I would then have her pack, then a couple days later, have her take out 1/3. She would still come back with items not worn.

She is now really good and packs very light now and at the end has worn everything she brought.

Our suit cases have been upstairs for a month now, but we were also using them for a trip to WDW in August and a trip to CA last week. No need moving them back down now to just bring them up in 4 weeks. We won't start packing until the weekend right before the cruise, possibly the night before we fly. :scared1:

I haven't even thought about packing yet! I think I'm still in denial... :rolleyes1
I'm a first-timer too, so I guess I should look at a packing list!

Lucky! Haven't even received Magical Express docs yet. Fingers crossed they get here soon :).

I just wanted to say good luck -- there are a few of us running half marathons this weekend and I'm sinding pixie dust for great times, great weather and lots of new PRs :cheer2:

Good luck to you too MissFitt! It looks like perfect weather for my race, Rock N' Roll Philly, this weekend. Come on PR!!

Just got the docs for our Oct 20th cruise. I'm thinking that the Oct 23rd cruise packet will be here any day now.

They're in a whole new format now. Small bound books. Before we used to get those individual books that were held together with a hair tie :).

I haven't been home yet today but I will keep my fingers crossed for our docs to be ther!!!
And good luck to all the runners!

No cruise docs yet. :sad1:

Dress code question for experienced cruisers. Without causing any animosity or controversy, how dressed up is dressed up? We're New Yorkers so we tend to dress "properly" for dinner. That means a dressy sundress or work-appropriate dress for me with nicer shoes. Do people get more dressed up than that on the cruise? Do I need to bring a "gown"? While we do like to dress up some, I wasn't really planning to bring a gown but now I'm wondering if I should. I wouldn't need to shop for anything as I have a few dressier items in my closet (we attend 1-2 black tie events every year). Opinions?

Thanks!

I am going to be very honest. Nice clothes are fine, but you will see everything in the way of dress! Shorts, tank tops, flîp flops, lots of hoodies and sweats,,,, I wear nice pants with a nice top. On dress up night, I take it up a notch or two. Wear what you feel is appropriate, IMHO Disney cruisers dress a little more casual. But, if you want :upsidedowto dress up, feel free. There are lots of opinions on clothing, but it is YOUR vacation, do what you feel is right. Palo and Remy are dressier. Remember to bring a cardigan, it gets chilly at night
