10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Just being on the ship is my happy place.........but I really like sitting in the chairs on Deck 4 with a book.

That is my DH and I, too :). We loved sitting on Deck 4 and just watching the ocean go by. We have always had an inside stateroom, so that is our closest thing to a verandah:laughing:.

Deck 7 Aft is a pretty nice place to sit too. It is usually very quiet and I thought the chairs were comfy there as well.

Too bad they won't have such a place on the new ships.

We're new to cruising in general but my fantasy is to sit in a comfy lounge chair with a drink in hand while I watch the sunset. :cloud9:

I like to try to find a dark place on deck at night to star gaze. You can see so many more stars when you're away from city lights. I do the same thing on camping trips.

You'll love Deck 4 (or its equivalent) in the evening. Unless the sun is directly in front or behind the ship, you should get some good views, and pictures too.

Deck 7 on Magic/Wonder was great for that. Regardless, there should be some spots on the Dream without "light noise" that you can go to and see the stars.

I find it eerily dark walking around the decks at night sometimes. Just a lot of darkness all around.

I do the same thing too while camping. You get to northern WI away from all the lights and you can see tons of stars.

Now those are some great spots... I think I can almost feel the sun... Now if I only had a mickey bar.......... :cloud9:

Thanks

Mike

Ok its been a bad day on land here so I think of cruising..

And I guess this goes out to those Veteran Cruisers but heck any one can play..

But when you Think of cruising what is your best place or Your happy place to be on the ship...

For My bride and I it is up on Deck 10 early in the morning.. No one else is out there, you Own the ship, The wind is blowing and only Gods Ocean as far as you can see..

Mike

My favorite time is sitting on our verandah, still in my PJ's and having that first cup of coffee, very early in the morning watching the sun rise. I love the sound of the white caps as they fall back into the sea.

Laura and I like to walk on the Promenade deck at night time. It's usually deserted and with the styling of the ship it feels like you could be walking on the deck of one of the ships from the 1920's. A very romantic feel to it.

Hey Steve, how's it going?

We're almost to 6 months out. When do you start the count down calendar for the kids?

That is a great point about the Disney ships .. You can walk around & pretend you are on an Ocean liner of the past.. Now this is not complaining, but when we were on the Radiance of the Seas.. (A very beautiful ship).. Where as the ship was very sharp in parts.. It never had that old world feel as you walked around.. And it never really had a flow, just a lot of segments...

When is the cutoff date for the FE? I forgot. Any idea of how many people to buy for? I have begun the search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We haven't set a date yet. On our last cruise, it was about 6 weeks out or so.

So far, we have 24 cabins with an average of 3 people per cabin (including children). I don't think we've set any rules about whether we give to each person in the room or a single gift per room. (My preference is to leave it to each person to decide this for themselves, but that's just me.)

I just started working on my things for the WBTA in September. I'll probably start thinking about this sometime in Summer. ;)

Hi Jeff.

I've got both cruised paid off and about half of the WDW portion paid off. Then it'll be time to save for spending money. So we're all getting pretty excited already. I figure that I'll start the countdown chain at 90 days. I got so excited about the last cruise on the magic that I started it too early and had a chain that was totally out of control.

Ok, so today I have booked our flights. Called DVC & added Oct 30th at Bay Lake Towers--hoping to go to MNSSHP that night. Arranged rental cars to get from airport to port & port to WDW.

Now..........where is a good place to stay at the port the night before the cruise. The way the flights out of our local airports work, we couldn't really wait to fly out Sunday or we'd risk missing the boat. So we are going to fly in Saturday & will need a place to stay that night. I know I have heard of a cool place to eat & watch ships sailing in & out there. Any suggestions? Also, would it be better to turn in the rental car say after dinner Sat night & then use hotel shuttle to ship?

Since you are a DVC member, just stay at one of the resorts the night before. We do that every time we cruise out of FL, typically at the AKL since my wife likes animals. We then just take the Cruiseline bus but, a rental would work too, as other will attest to.

Melanie, there are boats on the lake between BWV and BCV, lol.

Remember the WDW shuttles, to the ship, leave WDW around noon, so arrival at PC about 1:00 - 1:30pm ish

Melanie,

I know the Radisson, Residence Inn, and Country Inn have shuttles. One of them is by the Budget rental office in PC. Probably best to check the times of Avis, Budget and Hertz (which is by another one of the hotels) and see what time they close. You may need to return before dinner or real early in the morning on Sunday.

We're starting to look into a hotel for before the cruise as well. Not sure which one we'll do.

As for afterwards, we too were thinking of MNSSHP that night. The other option is the Friday before the cruise. Haven't decided yet.

I was looking at the Country Inn & Suites yesterday. That might be the one I pick. It said they have a free hot breakfast & a shuttle to the ship.
I am hoping to talk Eric into MNSSHP when we return but we've been several times, so we might just take it easy & enjoy being at BLT.
