And, if anyone is interested in joining Mike, Robin, Chuck and me, this is where we will be early early (around 5:30 a.m.) Saturday morning to "Welcome Home the Magic".

It's an awesome sight to see the ship roll in that early. It barely makes a sound.

I agree, a beautiful sight.

Aren't we getting near to the end of this thread...or is #250 pages?

Hiya Heather :wave2: Good to see you!

I checked the rules and it looks like we can go to 250 pages or 3750 posts. I'm guessing things are going to pick up as we get closer, so we probably will go into a 2nd one.

In reading through this thread and the previous one, it looks like several of you have joined together at dinner. It is just Jeff & I and would love to dine with Parleyers as opposed to TOTAL strangers.

How would I go about this and is there anyone who has room for two at their table? :worship: (please??) We are assigned 2nd seating.

Thanks-

So, today, I read some of your trip reports of past Disney cruises - very entertaining :thumbsup2
Thanks for posting them!! It makes me want to leave now and I look forward to meeting you guys. Nope, you didn't scare me off :)

It looks like some of you have been on the Magic in October before. Do you know if they celebrate Halloween? Hoping for some early trick or treating and another opportunity for Peyton to dress us (that's the daughter -not me...)

Not sure, we might miss it. We'll have to wait to see if DCL send anything out prior to our trip. If they still send them, it will come with the tickets.

Don't worry Sharon, you won't have to eat with non-Parleyers! About a month before, we will see who wants to link up.:grouphug:

They did celebrate Halloween last year and my ds loved it. They got to dress up in there costumes and they had trick or treating to different places and then the last stop was top deck where they had a party with the characters. It was alot of fun :)

That sounds fun!! I hope they continue that this year!

Last Hallowwen DD was Ariel and my husband, being the good dad that he is, dressed as King Triton to take her trick or treating. Hmmmm - maybe I could get him to dress up on the ship

Here is Ariel and King Triton last Halloween :thumbsup2
I was going to be a mermaid too but the adult mermaid costumes they make are very small... we might all be superheros this year.

Looking at the posts I think a lot of you were on our last cruise too. To Sharon, it's only us two big kids. Maybe we'll see you at dinner! Or martini tasting, our favorite!:cool1:

I echo Kathy's sentiments!! ADORABLE! :cutie:

Hey all. I haven't been on in a while, and as is obvious from my post count, I have posted much, either. That was intentional as my wife told me I'm not allowed to get all OCD about our Disney cruise too soon. She's afraid I'll get too excited and just zoom through Summer too fast hoping for the cruise to hurry up and get here. Can't say I blame her. I waited all Fall, Winter, and Spring for Summer to hurry up and get back. So, I need to slow down and enjoy it while it's here.

Anyway, I knew there was some deadline for signing up for the FE list. So my wife gave me permission to check in with y'all solely to sign up. Of course, I'm also going to peek through all the posts I've missed while I'm here! We want to participate in the FE exchange. However, I noticed on the front post that you're supposed to PM minnieandmickey with your cruise info. Unfortunately, I don't have enough posts to PM. Plus, we don't have a cabin assignment yet. I think we have some sort of guaranteed cabin assignment or level or whatever that will be provided at embarkation. So, how do I sign up for FE without a cabin number? BTW, how have any of you already received your cabin numbers? Is that something special for repeat cruisers?

Also, I'm still interested in setting up a stargazing night during the cruise. I've been in email communications with DCL guest relations to get particulars on what is allowed on the ship and what, if anything, they can do to possibly enhance our stargazing activities. I asked about areas of the ship that might be best suited for stargazing and also if there was any potential for them to switch off lights in a designated area just for stargazing. I also asked if they would allow the use of a green laser pointer (GLP) for pointing out celestial objects during the stargazing.

Unfortunately, they didn't provide any recommendations for areas of the ship that would be best for stargazing. They did contact an officer on the Magic to ask about ship lighting. However, the only response I could get out of them was that ship lighting remains on all night for the safety of their guests and for other vessels to see them. The problem I'm having with DCL is that no matter how I phrase the question, they seem to think that I'm asking them to turn off all the ship lighting during the night. That's not what I meant at all. I was asking if there was any small, designated area of the ship where they could dim or turn off nonessential lighting just for the duration of the stargazing activity. But, like I said, they seem think that I want all the ship lights turned off all night long. So their only response is, "No!"

As for the GLP, after consulting with officers of the Magic, DCL said they would allow the responsible use of GLPs during stargazing. This is a good thing as it is so much easier to point out objects in the sky using a laser rather than just pointing with your finger. I will be bringing my GLP for this purpose. We use them extensively for the sidewalk astronomy and public outreach events that my astronomy group hosts.

However, I would strongly ask that if anyone else intends to bring a GLP for stargazing, please make absolutely certain it is used responsibly. GLPs are great tools, but they are not toys. Government agencies already hold disdain for GLPs because of irresponsible idiots who like to "tag" airplanes, helicopters, police vehicles, and other non-astronomy targets because they think it's funny. Many municipalities are considering bans on such devices. I would be very sad to lose the use of a wonderful tool for astronomy because of the negligent behavior of others.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. So, if anyone else is interested in putting together a stargazing hook-up for one of the nights, I suppose we should start discussing specifics in the next couple of months. Thanks, and I can't wait to meet fellow Parleyers in October!

I'll get you signed up, you can email me at dvcownersnb@gmail.com if you would like me to email you the spreadsheet of participants.

The reason I know my cabin number is because when I booked the cruise I booked a specific cabin. It sounds like you booked a guarantee room, which means you are guaranteed a room in your category or you may be lucky and the DCL gods will bless you with an upgrade.

Oooooh! I suggest a new thread topic: "Parley!!! Will this get me an upgrade?!?!"

Thanks! I'll email you shortly.
