10/21/2014 5 Night Port Canaveral

Hi! So super excited to have just booked this cruise - my first ever cruise! Wish it was closer:( I will be travelling with my mom and my two kids, ages 5 & 7 at the time. We did Disney World this past winter and have heard amazing things about DCL. Looks so fun!! I am going to keep the cruise a secret from my kids, hopefully until we leave for the airport, so it will be nice to share the excitement on here, since I can't with them. And can't tell many people because I don't want someone to slip up and tell the kids. Just want to keep it a surprise because it's so long to wait and since it's hurricane season, you never know. Don't want them to be disappointed. Did I say how excited I am?? :)

Welcome aboard. Our first cruise as well. Traveling with my husband as an anniversary trip. Your kids will be SOO excited! Bet you'll think of all kinds of ways to keep them occupied on the plane with info about the trip or even games to have them guess where they are going or small gifts to unwrap as clues. You are going to have such fun planning this surprise! Check out the fish finder that was set up. You'll all enjoy that too.

Welcome! I know they will have fun. We had to decide whether to tell our kids about our last cruise or surprise them. We decided it was more fun for us to tell them and have them look forward to it with us. We all went online and watched videos, planned excursions, and had a good time dreaming. (I also don't think I could have kept my mouth shut. On the other hand I love to watch the "surprise Disney cruise" videos on Youtube. Those are awesome. I'm a month away from surprising my wife with this cruise. It will be her birthday present. Any ideas on how to spring it?

Good morning! Just wondering if there is a facebook page yet for this cruise? I've joined a general DCL facebook page but would love to connect with people going on this cruise through FB as well. Thanks!

I noticed that the price of my stateroom category went up $280 today. I've been watching hoping it would drop so I could get the difference, but that looks unlikely now. I guess it is going to be pretty full.

Since its a special itinerary and only one sailing of this type, you probably won't see the prices go down.
DH has been ill and I had to change my cabin from a 9b to a 11a accessible since he will be in a scooter and needs an accessible stateroom. Accessible cabins are very had to get so I took the only one that was available right now, but will look closer to PIF dates.

I don't know of a facebook page. I did a quick search and turned up nothing as well.

I don't mind starting a Facebook page group. It seems though that I need to have at least 1 member to start the group...so if anyone is interested in joining, please send me a PM with your facebook name and I can add you as a friend and then start the group.

I setup the FB page, it can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/205430966294919/

Please message me with your email address and I will send you an email invite directly from FB to join. Otherwise, you can request to join on the group page. The name of the group is Disney Magic October 21-26, 2014.

redkayak77 will add you as admin, but has to be your FB name :)

Are you renting the scooter or bringing your own? The reason I ask is I just returned from the 9/8 Dream 4 Night, and rented an electric wheelchair for my DD. DCL has a new policy that requires the vendor to place the equipment in the stateroom (if accessible), and if not, by Enchanted Garden with the key at Guest Services. It was a nightmare. I had to borrow a manual chair for the terminal, and push her up the ramp, which physically I really can't do anymore. At 3:30 they still could not locate the rental, with the vendor insisting it was dropped off. I was in an absolute panic and spent almost all afternoon running from point A to B trying to resolve.

Once the chair was located, I did not have a problem leaving the chair by the elevator to charge, and staff never moved it downstairs by Enchanted Garden. Hopefully they will have the kinks worked out by next year, it was very stressful. It is also motivating me to purchase the equipment and use our own for travel. :)

We stayed at the Hyatt at the airport the night before and rented a scooter from Walker Mobility and they delivered it right to the Hyatt. It fit right on the bottom of the DCL transfer bus, and DH was able to scoot right on the ship without getting out. Since we had an accessible cabin, we charged the scooter right in the room. Since we were going to WDW after the cruise we still kept the scooter for the entire 11 days, and it went under the DCL bus to the resort.
I don't like the idea of keeping the scooter by the elevator, but there was another family that charged the scooter at the elevator near us and was not told to move it to another deck. Hope every thing gets sorted out before our next cruise too.

A facebook page would be great. Joining ASAP.

Failed to mention that we were also on the 9/8 DREAM and I never would have been able to push 235lb DH in a manual wheelchair, the scooter was a godsend.

My niece Kelly-44 will be joining us on the cruise to help with my DD. Trying to modify the reservations to add her has been a 3 day ordeal, and I am currently locked out of the 3 Night Repo, but with DCL help was finally able to resolve the website issues for the 5 Night. It was letting me modify the reservation to add her, but kept refusing the cc payment, saying the card failed. Tried every cc I have, plus Disney gift cards with no luck. Apparently because I was still logged in to the 3 Night reservation, DCL could not, plus advised not to close the browser window.

So, we are at least all set for this cruise, and have to call back before 10 PM to see if we are still locked for the 3 Night. :confused3

Has anyone noticed how the price for this cruise has absolutely skyrocketed?

We booked on opening (2A2K on 5B for $3500 and now it is $6800!) On cruises on either side of this date are still at opening prices??

Anyhow, this will be our 2nd and have 2 sons who will be 6 and 7. Looking forward to new avenger theme.

Oh wow. I went and looked and ours has doubled too! We are 2 adults, 1 child, and it's now over $5k!!!

Yes, I booked this special 5 night cruise right away because I needed an accessible room for DH's scooter. Picks were slim for an accessible affordable room so I booked an 11A on deck 7 for $1652.30 for 2 adults, with the 10% discount with insurance , taxes but no transfers. Now today the same category in a regular 11A room is $3127.30, wow and we are 1 year away.
