We are flying into LAX 3 days earlier and staying at the Villas at the Grand Californian (VGC). I am waitlisted for the night of 10/1-10/2 at VGC, but want to make a back up ressie in case the waitlist doesn't come through. I figured we'd drive (we have a rental car) and stay close to the port the night before the cruise.

We have 5 people in our family and the doubletree doesn't have any 2 queen beded rooms left. I made a reservation for the courtyard in torrance. It sleeps 5 and was a reasonable price. Anyone ever stay here? Is this a mistake to stay here the night before the cruise? Too far from the port? Not a good area?

Any thoughts are welcomed.....TIA!

I have never stayed there, but as for the area...

Torrance is okay. It's not great, but not dangerous. You are plenty close to the port for morning of the cruise --- closer than GCV.

One thought for you: If you just want a back up and you a comfortable with staying onsite, why not book your "backup" at DLH and have the magic of DIsney the night before? Just a thought. :)

Thanks for the idea......maybe we will stay at DL. I think the double whammy of the VGC waitlist not through ((yet)) and the non-connecting staterooms, I'm trying to figure out the best course of action, I suppose.

If the stateroom issue gets rectified, then I'm thinking staying at DL would be a better choice.

Right now.......i'm recovering from the 5.9 earthquake. Scared the daylights out of me! :scared1:Not used to this living on Long Island!
