10/2/2011 Disney Dream 4nt

I am pleased to announce a special lecture where we will compare and contrast the features and benefits of according files and learn how to avoid the common mistakes and pitfalls of paper clip usage. Other topics include:

* Selecting the right folder: How to find the right size. And no matter what you may have heard, size DOES matter. How to avoid running out of room while also avoiding having to bring along one of those little rolling baskets the crazy cat lady down the street uses.

* How to avoid the dangers of plastic fatigue. Nothing is worse than a busted seam. This module shows you when enough paperwork is too much. Learn how to cleanse your file. Do you really need to bring a copy of every payment confirmation receipt and that coupon to the Sizzler on 192 that you have...."just in case"?

* What exactly is the old lady down the street carrying in that rolling basket??

* Style vs. Functionality. Sure, the new accordion file on display as you walk in Office Depot is cool with a USB port and GPS navigation. But are you really going to use those features? Also learn how to avoid the flashy, shiney folders that distract your from....SQUIRREL!......

* Much, much more.

So, sign up today!

OK...FISH EXTENDER FOLKS...

I have finished the handy dandy easy as pie document I promised so long ago. If you will send me your email address, I can send you the document.

Basically it is a document that breaks down every participant by deck and includes a full color deck plan with each participating cabin marked. SO> when its time to go delivering, you can take this with you and know exactly where to go. Plan out your strategy and spend less time walking down endless hallways!

I suggest printing it in color.

Also, I will print extras and bring them on board next week. Whenever we set up a meet (we really need to get that on in gear, don't we??) I will have them with me. I will also place additional copies IN MY FE on the first night of the cruise. So, if you miss the meet, don't want to meet, get tied up at the all-you-can-eat ice cream machine, are stuck in line to see Ariel, just can't drag yourself out of the pool, decide to take one last trip to the buffet or otherwise just forget because of the sensory overload you will experience walking on board....I got ya covered!

Also, at the meet (seriously, let's get that one squared away) we can make any updates for cabin changes. Since we are all sure to be upgraded to concierge suites, we can take the document I made and mark any changes. (Which means I will make sure to make any changes in the additional ones I will put in my FE as well for anyone that is not there).

SO....

All of you that are planners (this is those of you who right now have various lists of things you need to do in the next day laying on the dining room table), send me your email address and I will send you the document to print at home so you can add it to the binder or folder you picked up at Office Depot with all your other vacation documents.

All of you that are wingin' it (this is those of you who are not sure where your suitcase is right now...but it's OK, you can throw it together in the hour before heading to the airport), you can get one from me on the ship. But, if you are bored and want to look at some pretty pictures or just want to chat...go ahead and send me your email address as well and I will send it your way.

Finally, the document was made in Microsoft Powerpoint. If you want it in some other format (.pdf, .jpg, etc.) Just let me know!

I sent you a PM. Thanks for doing this! I was under the impression we were meeting at 3, in the atrium, boarding day. Is that no longer true?

I would love to have a "mini" FE with your family. I am not even sure what FE really are suppose to be but I am sure I can google it and get some ideas of what to make or buy. This is our first cruise as well! I have a 2 year old little girl. We booked in February and I wish I had found out about this sooner as well.....

David Family....post your DD name if possible, I will add her to my list of personalized gifts. Also, did you provide your room number?? You can PM me if you want.

Working on our Fish extenders now! came up with the sweetest idea! Who knew i would just come across this website and find all these insider tips!

See ya on the dream,
Kristy:sail:

I am so excited that I found a few families that will do FEs with my little family! I know my little girl will really enjoy the surprises! She loves surprises!

Just a few questions since this is our very first Disney cruise and of course our very first time to participate in FEs:
-Is there a certain time of day when we should drop these FEs off?
-Are these FEs more for the kids? I don't want parents to feel left out..... The things I have so far are more for kids except for the candy
-We drop things off everyday, correct?
-I would like to eventually MEET the families that we exchange with! Is there a way that we can plan that?

I am sure I will come up with more questions..... pirate:

No wonder our group is so active - it's almost like sharing an addiction!!! I started off with a clear folder... then file folders... and now... I was GOING to get a small binder but I'll get an accordian folder instead so I don't have everything precariously paperclipped together!!!! Thanks!!!!

You guys are making me second think myself...... What are y'all filing in these accordian folders? All I have is the book I received in the mail with my luggage tags, my online check in forms, my confirmation papers for the hotel the night before, and papers for car service. What am I forgetting? Oh I and our passports..... Please let me know what else I need..... :confused3

Sounds like you have all that you really need. Some of us just get a little...well...I can't think of the word. But I also am doing a total of three different hotels in conjunction with the cruise (don't ask), so I keep all my documents together in order, along with Disney Dining ADRs and stuff like that. Plus on this trip since I am taking my nieces, DCL requires we have a signed document from my sister and brother-in-law that allows us to take them out of the country. That is super important as we can't board without it...so it is filed and ready. Anyway, don't be confused or anything...you sound like you are ready to go!

I have sent the email with attachment to all that have asked for it (OK, that is just 3 of you...), so check your email.

Anyone else?

Thank you! I must say, I feel SO behind! I have not begun to pack and have no binders or folders, LOL! I'm not lazy, just SUPER busy. I have four boys (one I'm trying to get potty trained b4 this cruise!), work full-time as a nurse and I'm in grad school full-time. And part of this year my husband spent in Afghanistan, so I was even a single parent on top of all that! We are looking forward to this vacation! My hubby spent his 40th birthday in Afghanistan, so I am happy he will be spending his 41st in the Bahamas!!!
BTW- I do take photos on my phone of hotel info, confirmation numbers, etc, just a good tip.
Can't wait till next week!!!!

Well, you need to pack Prozac to hand out to us :lmao::lmao:

I think it's all personal preference. I can relax more and feel like everything is handled if I freak out before hand - so in our file for example, I have color copies of our passports, color copies of our photo ID, a copy of our travel insurance, printout of our flight information, our Disney cruise documents, I have two special needs kids, so have a photo book (an experience book for my ASD peeps), print outs of each deck of the ship, a place to 'file' the photo mats I want to have signed by the characters, a place to file Navigators we'll use and a space to file extra Navigators to use for scrapbooking or momentos.

So if you haven't worried or thought about it by now - DON'T START. Just travel however makes you happy. At least when you see some loony adults with accordian files, highlighters, and a laser pen you'll realize you're on the right cruise :rotfl2:

That is to funny! First off, I know you are joking, but I just have to throw it out there..... I am a drug rep and I sell something that is better than Prozac, it is the new antidepressant, Viibryd! Maybe I will bring some.... Just kidding!

These photo mats you speak of... I picked one up for my little girl. Am I suppose to carry that around with me are is there somewhere I can leave it for all of the characters to sign? I guess it would be more fun for her to actually see everyone sign it. A print out of each deck on the ship is a good idea.... Keep the ideas coming.... :yay:

HA HA HA HA That is TOO funny!!! But seriously, you could probably skip hanging out in Dr.'s offices and just send samples and info to DISers!!!!

I put our 2 photo mats in a large ziplock, wrote in pencil the boys' names and stateroom on the back, and labeled the colored sharpie pens with 'please return to' our stateroom number. I mean, if I get them back so be it - if not, I tried :) I'm also including two bags of candy as a thank you (one for each photo mat) I also wrote on the ziplock our stateroom and that all signatures were appreciated. You can ask for specific characters, princesses only, or classic characters only, etc. Leave it at guest services, and pick it up before you get off of the ship.

See what I mean? I've never even been on a cruise and I know this stuff... anxiety, your best friend and worst enemy :rotfl2:

PS love that we're all on here this morning - gotta run to church and you know I'll be praying for (among other things) smooth seas!!!!

Hey all of you experienced Disney cruisers! I was wondering, how are the internet packages on the ship priced? I am addicted to the internet and can't imagine going the entire trip without it..... Not to mention, I am a photographer, on the side, so I take pictures galore and want to upload them for my friends and family to see!

It is up to the group. We did for kids (each kid in room) and then one for the adults. I do not have little ones and I was just like a kid when there were things in ours.

The things I have so far are more for kids except for the candy
-We drop things off everyday, correct?
Since you are are small group you could do that. Talk to the people in your group.-I would like to eventually MEET the families that we exchange with! Is there a way that we can plan that?

I am sure I will come up with more questions..... pirate:

Hope the above helps. Since you are what maybe 5 cabins and it seams like you have little ones you could probibly set up a meet at the Mickey pool.

You could probibly pm the people in the group and see from there.

I am so with you on that. I am addicted to the internet to. I think some one said they have the prices in the sticky notes on top of the threads. I don't go on like I do at home but I still have to get on.
