Thanks for the wishes guys. Kathy and I are going to the American Quilters Society Show at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and convention center tomorrow and see what we can't afford. Mike

Just got a call from the shop:
Repair will be around €1500, but those *£%@ want €460/$550 for the beepers - No way!!!
Nevertheless it is surprising that our car only was slightly damaged, but the Volkswagen Golf (an '89 or '90 model) was totalled :teeth:
As our convertible was the first to score five stars in the EURO NCAP, which is the highest rating available for that crash-test, it's perhaps not that surprising ;)

So I had an exciting event this past weekend..

Andy was out of town and I woke up early and went to get the paper. When I came back into the bedroom my cat was sitting on my desk looking at the ceiling. I looked up and there was a mouse sitting on top of my curtain rod.EEEKKK!!!!

I decided to be brave and not freak out(I even hate bugs) and got the ladder, a box and paper towels to try to catch the mouse. Well the mouse then went into my window and down into the radiator. I now called Andy and started screaming/crying at him about this. He offered to come home-useless since he would have lost a day of work and it would have taken him approx 3 or more hours to get home. First I tried to vacuum the mouse up(not sure if it worked or not) and then shut the bedroom door and then came back about 2 hours later. Lo and behold there was the mouse coming out of behind the desk and going in and out of my closet. Yuch! Okay now I started screaming at the mouse to go back to the radiator(picture that) and proceeded to call my sister and bil to come to my house. I was so hysterical she couldnt even understand what I was saying. They said they would come up so I went to shower and when I went into the bedroom the mouse was on my bed.OMG. I threw a towel on the mouse.put on box on the towel and heavy objects on top of the box and then kept a vigil for about 1 hour to make sure it didnt come out. Again picture this. Finally my bil arrived and came to my rescue. He got the mouse put it in a box and we proceeded to drive it to the local schoolyard. Needless to say I am still on mouse alert and thankfully Andy is back so its his problem now. Me and my sister had a good laugh afterwards saying that we always joked about the woman standing on the chair because of a little mouse...now I can sympathize.....the only good thing to come from this was that I went to the pet store with my sister and bil and kind of talked them into adopting 2 kittens(they were already looking but not really looking).

PS Andy was joking about not liking mouses since I liked Mickey Mouse - I said its a differant kind of mouse.....

MICE! YUCK!! I can sympathize! I HATE MICE...except Mickey! When we went to WDW in Oct '01, we came home to mice in the FAMILY ROOM! OMG! We went to The House of Mouse and the Mouse came to our House! Steve set traps and we caught 2 the first night...we could hear them pop from upstairs! and one the next night. I would suggest setting traps for a few nights. My bug-guy set some poison out..but I have had to put that up since we got Daisy, but he said where there is one, there are more! I know that traps and poisons are not humane, but I can NOT tolerate mice! You are a better person then me! I wouldn't have let the bugger loose again!

Eric, that is HIGH for a backing system! I think both of ours was less then $200!

Mike, enjoy the show!!

Well I kept saying my bil should step on it or something else and my sister just kept joking that I was being cruel even though she knows I love animals intensely...

Arlene,
that was just a warning: Those mice will haunt you until you switch your reservation back to our cruise pirate:

Tiger Woods, you better watch out :rotfl2:
Anja and I spent a wonderful evening on the driving range and on the putting green. Both of us would never have thought that this is real sports, but it really is straining. Both of us hit about 75 balls each on the driving range and then spent half an hour putting. I used a 9 Iron and reached up to 120m/130yards, but most of my balls landed between 80 and 90m - surprisingly many even flew in the direction I aimed at :earboy2: Anja used a 7 Iron and did a lot of drives in the 50m/55 yard-range - and also in the direction she aimed at.
I once even managed to hit that ball retrieval car with the second try :rotfl2:
And the putting was fun, too: I even sank several 20 feet puts.
Anja remarked that we don't have the time to play once or twice a week - And unfortunately: She's right ;)
But it was fun.

Eric---I agologize now and for all the future times that I will write Erik instead of Eric. After writing it for nearly 23 years with a K it is hard to remember not to do it. Sure I will gladly adopt you. To earn your keep you can be my personal trainer.

I loved Meet the Fockers. That's the most recent movie I went to months ago. Eric you company does have alot of activites for their employees. So if you take up golfing, than you and Jeanne can play. You can experience her golfing expertise.

Arlene-- Reading your mice adventure is so funny, I can just picture you doing all those things. I am not afraid of mice, mine is snakes. I can't even look at them on TV or at the movies. When we used to camp and I saw one I ran the entire way back to the camper. I guess everyone has some sort of phobia.

Jeanne-- Sorry about all the extra stress you have to deal with right before your trip. Hope everything works out so you and John can enjoy Alaska. Still wish I was going with you.

Where is everyone, it has been sort of quiet the past couple of days.

Nancy

Hi all
Being back at school is great (NOT!) and the pupils aren't even back yet. However at least I get to catch up with friends. Now it's back to lesson planning and marking.
Eric - is there any sport you do not try!
Jeanne - I hope you and John have a great cruise - I am looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
Mike - belated Happy birthday.
Back to the grindstone!
Wendy

THANK-YOU, ARLENE! I was in desperate need of a good laugh and your story made my day! And I know it wasn't funny at the time, but I can truly picture you freaking out because that's what I would do. I have such a strong visual of Andy laughing and telling you it's only Mickey Mouse that I feel like I was there.
Which reminds me......if the Hotel Pennsylvania on 34th St in NY comes up on Priceline, don't take it at any price! That's the one with the mouse that looked like Tower of Terror!
Eric: Hmmmm, about the golf....you better be careful: I remember a certain German once making a remark to the effect that golf and sex were inversely proportional to one another......do I get an apology or is it time for the little blue pills! :ssst:

Don't take them ERIC!!! They will make you go blind. Why do you think I had to start wearing glasses :rotfl2: Mike

Arlene, Great Mouse Story!! Thanks for sharing. I've never had a problem with them myself, but then again I've almost always owned a cat. :cat:
Eric...Golfing???? Something that doesn't drive your pulse rate up to 150? :rotfl:

JeanneG, Hope you have a nice trip. Always wanted to go to Alaska. Maybe one day.

Michelle, Any news about the guy who robbed the pharmacy? Hope they catch him soon.

Dinner time, Leftovers tonight.
Avé

Ave, thanks for asking. No, no word on the guy. Idunno that they will ever find him since there was no cameras on and no one saw his face.
Steve returned from New Orleans today! It's good to have him back. Now if Daisy would just SLEEP tonight, life will be good! She was up every 1.5 to 2 hours last night. I feel like a zombie today!

Jeanne,
in Germany it's different: When you're a player you're only allowed to have sex on the golf range :teeth:
Enjoy your cruise

But we won't do it as a regular sport. I would like to, but Anja doesn't - And as we do everything together.... :confused3

Mike,
as a true sportsman I'm against any kind of doping ;)

DS#2 is on his way back to college. He couldn't fit everything into his car so Norm and I will have to make a trip out this weekend to deliver the rest of his things. Norm is going up to DS#1 school on Friday to pick up the rest of his things since he is moving back home for this semester to do his internship. He won't be back until Monday night. He only has to go up to the campus every other week for a class on Monday afternoon. It really limits where they can do their internships since you don't want to be to far away. At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel for him.

I made ME reservations for our Oct trip yesterday. If it goes well will use it for our Dec trip. Also have decided we are going to do dinner at California Grill on 10/30 instead of MNSSHP. We have 8pm reservations so will be able to watch the special fireworks at MK while dining. We have never eaten at CG. Plus, we can use our DDE for the discount. I also made Candlelight Procession dinner reservations for December. It is impossible to get into Le Cellier, no matter what date or time I wanted for our entire trip no opening for party of 2. Apparently if you are a party of 4 you can get a table but not for 2. I guess we will try to eat there over our Oct trip instead. So doing Chefs de France 12/9 with Jesus as the narrator (Jim Caviezel) and then Rose and Crown on 12/12 and Eartha Kitt is the narrator. We have not seen either of them previously so looking forward to it.

I am not even going to touch the player comments.

Nancy

Nancy,
your plans sound great, but I have a question:
I read about those narrators in my All Ears Newsletter. Do those celebrities show up personally or is it taped?

Eric--- The narrators are giving a live performance and there are usually guest conductors. Last year we were really close to the stage and I was most entertained by the conductor. It is my favorite part of all the Christmas events at WDW. I would go every night. We usually do 2 CP dinner packages and then go one other night if it is a different narrator.

Nancy

I'm so jealous Nancy that you get to go at Christmas time. Unfortunately I can't get the time off work.

Exciting times at work -- they were doing some sort of upgrade to the computers and it appears that it messed up the accounting program. Then it was discovered that the nightly backups -- weren't actually backing up. They have had a computer tech here for 2 days but it looks like all of the info will have to be re-inputted starting from June 10th which is the last day that the complete backup seems to have worked. Not fun. Cheques are going to have to be done by hand while a lot of stuff will be put on hold. It will be an interesting couple of weeks I think.

Back to work.
