OK, I've got a funny story:
On the side of my refrigerator, where it's not too blatantly obvious, there is a little photo gallery known as "my boys". Situated in identical 4"x6" magnetic frames are the various subjects of my fantasy life......or in other words, my little gallery of "hot guys".
Well, I'm a big fan of Ethan from Survivor, so he's right up there with the rest of them. Now, Ethan gave a promotional talk at my daughter's college yesterday and since she is the student body VP, she got to meet him personally. Momma knew this was going to happen so I made her take his photo from the fridge, blow it up into a glossy 8"x10" at a Kinko's type place and requested (OK, demanded) she get it autographed for me! Well, all went fine and she got to meet with him and had their picture taken together (if I knew how to do the photo thing, I'd post them). Then she tells him about her weirdo mother and asks him if he'll sign the photo, which he gladly agrees to do.........until he sees it and says "That's NOT me!" So she asks him if he's sure and he says "I think I'd recognize my own photo". Luckily, he had some promo photos of his own so Jen was able to get him to scrawl a personal greeting to me which I'm waiting to arrive in the mail. Now I'm seriously wondering who the hot guy is that I've had on my refrigerator for the past 4 years!

Thanks for the info, Nancy. This sounds like a cool way to start the xmas-season.

Fiona,
that sounds horrible :scared1:
This is one of the reasons why my company does daily back-ups - or better nightly back-ups. Each day after 8pm when the last regular employee has left the building our operators do the back-up. Next morning one copy goes to a bank vault, one stays in the house. All our servers are situated in a so-called Lambertz-box, a fireproof room which in the event of a fire gives everyone a 30second warning to leave. Then it automatically closes all doors and floods itself with a fire extinguishing and cooling gas. Even if the whole building burns down and collapses this box will survive for at least 24 hours. Box may give you a wrong impression as it is a modular room of about 1000 squarefeet, which can be extended by adding new modules if need arises. We're sticklers for security, aren't we ;)

We too loved the candlelight processional - only been once at that time but it was for the millenium so it was very special. Cannot for the life of me remember his name but he was in Roots and Star Trek Next Generation.
Jeanne - wonder who on earth the guy is! Mum in stitches at your story. She says to tell you to both have a great cruise.
Just read that Roy Disney is onboard the Magic - not staying in his own suite but a category 4 on deck 8!

I got it :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

I have to pay my respect to the golfers:
Anja & I were a bit sore today: Our wrists, the right biceps, and the lower back hurt a bit.
We did The Puimp today and really felt it in abovementioned areas.

This weekend we'll have the Museumsuferfest, the best fest in Frankfurt. The veterans may remember it, but for the newbees I'll explain it:
In Frankfurt most museums are situated along the banks (Ufer) of the River Main. Once a year we celebrate on both banks along the river for about a kilometer on each side. There are two pedestrian bridges connecting the banks in that area and a large bridge with four carlanes and sidewalks which is off-limits for cars for that weekend. On the south-side the bank is divided into two stories, so we have a total of three kilometers (2miles) of booths selling food, drinks, artwork, jewellery, etc from all over the world. All Museums are open continuously from Friday morning to Sunday night, so everybody has the opportunity to quench his/her cultural as well as physical thirst and hunger. Unfortunately Anja has to work and will be at the office too, but nevertheless we'll go there Saturday afternoon, because it is a not-to-miss-fest pirate:

I just checked out Hurricane Katrina: We keep our fingers crossed for everyone in 'her' path. Right now it even looks as if she might be a threat early next week for the Twins in PCB.

Jeanne--- Poor Jen, not only do you make her get an autograph but give her the wrong photo. You will never live that down. When you old and gray sitting in a rocking chair in the nursing home, I'm sure that will be mentioned. So who are the other hot guys or better yet who do you think they are. You will have to get someone to scan the picture that you think is Ethan and maybe one of us can identify him. :rotfl2:

Wendy--- I believe it is Ben Vereen that you are mentioning. I have not heard him, but I would think he would have been very good. The only narrator I was ever disappointed in was Miss America 2003. She was from the Orlando area and she just didn't put any emotion into it. We even enjoyed Marlee Marlin who does her performance in sign language and her interpreter translates.

Eric--- Congratulations on #4444. Take 2 advil for your aching muscles, go to bed and report back tomorrow.

Fionna--- What a diaster with the computers. We never did Dec trips until 2002 after both boys went off to college. Now it is my favorite time to go. We have been trying to get to each hotel to check out the decorations. This year we are going to do the monorail hotels.

Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson....at least that's who I think they are! I am thinking of replacing Liam, though........he's getting a little too old for me!

Nancy - it was LeVar Burton, looked up Allears as it was annoying me! I would love to see Marlee Marlin as I think signing adds to the performance even more.
Jeanne - boy are they going to cast up this story to you! I take Liam if you are done with him!
Fingers crossed that the hurricanes avoid everyone this week.
Wendy

I knew that Johnny Depp was going to be on the list. I don't know who
Liam Neeson is.

Wendy--- I was sort of close. Didn't they both perform in Roots. I think Ben was Chicken George and LeVar was Kunte Kinte.

Nancy

Nancy you were definitely close and thank you for coming up with him. LeVar was Kunte I think. Liam has played Oskar Schindler, Kinsey,Qui-Gon Jinn in Phantom Menace and the voice of Aslam in the upcoming Narnia chronicles.

PAGE 2!!!!!

Nnacy,
no Advil for me: I simply run 5 to 6 miles in leisurely 50 minutes today to burn some of that lactate and I'll be fine again ;)

The actor you are thinking of is Levar Burton. He was one of the leads in roots and also a regular character on Startrek the Next Generation.

Bye...

I think you were talking about Levar Burton....

Jeanne: Great story. Your pour daughter-how embarrasing for her. I hope she has a good sense of humor....

I can't keep up..... Sorry for all the bad news: car accidents, store robberies, mice sightings (LOL!). Glad no one was seriously hurt in any (not even the mouse!).

Arlene - I so feel for you!! During southwest sewer district thing when my mom's neighborhood was being dug up like crazy, we were there one day and I spotted a mouse and jumped and ran up the stairs so fast!!! The mouse ran into the hall closet and my mom and I (well,, mostly I, were telling Richard "GET IT! GET IT!!!! He's laughing at how I am on tippy toes at the top of the stairs peeking around the corner and telling me the mouse is more afraid of me than I am of him and I said "NO HE'S NOT!!! GET IT!!!" Hate to say, he wasn't as nice as your BIL. He opened the closet and I don't know what he was using but I'm hearing him slamming whatever on the floor several times and he comes out with a dead mouse. I shivered, screaming GET IT OUT OF HERE!!!! Mice and snakes - no like either one!

Happy belated Birthday Mike!!

Getting ready for weekend trip to PA!! Gonna have breakfast tomorrow a.m. with Kathy and Art!! :D MaryJo and Sam and Sarah had other committments but we will be heading their way often, I think with SIL buying house in area., so we will meet up another time.

Jeanneg - I think Ethan and Josh Groban look very much alike. Perhaps the photo was of Josh? My niece absolutely LOVES Ethan and I have a picture of them taken at a mall in Nebraska where she presented him with a teddy bear or something at some promotional signing thing.

This niece, god love her, went to ANOTHER Surviivor publicity thing out in Omaha (notice they NEVER come to Long Island, NY?) in 2002 and got me for my birthday a Survivor T-shirt and had ALL the members of at "Survivor Omaha Weekend Reunion" Many signed it "Happy Birthday Aunt Rosemary"!!

I just pulled it out of the drawer (why it's in the drawer I don't know cuz I never wear it cuz then I will have to wash it and I'm afraid the signatures will be lost) It's signed by Kathy - my favorite player who should have won instead of Vescepia, and also by Boston Rob! and Nelah and Paschal and Sarah Jones and Zoe, and Hunter and more - all from Vanawatu. The only one who didn't show up at this "reunion weekend" was Vescepia.

Rosemary, Please give Cathy and Art our best.

Looks like we get to spend another weekend watching the Weather Channel. :guilty: I've got to work all weekend so at least I'll stay busy.

So glad this week is over. My boss lady has been under a lot of stress lately with moving the office, dealing with banks, new employees, and a ton of other stuff. She has not been the nicest person to be around, if you know what I mean. So I've just kept my mouth shut, and tried to not let it bother me. Well guess what, she gave me a $500 bonus along with my paycheck yesterday!!!!

Signed up DS for Cub Scouts yesterday. New thing for both of us. Hoping he likes it. Anyone out there with boys have anything to say about Cub Scouts?

Later,
Avé

Rosemary: I agree with you that Kathy should have been the one to win. I can't believe Vescepia got it....IMO, the most undeserving winner ever!
I'm still annoyed over what happened to Pappy (Paschal). The poor guy didn't have a single vote against him and he got knocked off because of a rock!
What I couldn't get over was the grace with which he handled the whole situation. I would have been raving mad!
And no, the photo wasn't Josh, although I also think he looks alot like Ethan. This was from a GAP ad that ran a few months after his first win. He was doing quite a bit of promotional stuff and I could have sworn it was him!

Ave: I hope you'll be out of harms way this weekend....stay safe and dry!

I won't forgot LeVar Burton's name now - what was so nice was his whole family were in the audience.
Now why won't my boss gave me a bonus like that?! However my class of 12 year olds as they left this afternoon thanked me for the lesson and wished me a happy weekend - makes the job worthwhile.
Have a good weekend all.
