Tracy & Bill (Winotracy) are having a "magical" time on board - the live thread even has some pictures! I hope everybody else is safe.

Thanks for the info, Wendy. I hope they still have a house to return to ;) Did BBC show the pictures, too?

Oh I hope their house is safe. Ashamed to say that I haven't seen the news today - sat outside reading all afternoon - sheer luxury, and something I won't get to do once school starts!

Nancy,
you can make a deal: Give Norm the chair in exchange for his approval to come to NYC ;)

I hadn't thought of that. Actually I am working on an alternate plan if Norm won't go, I may have DS#1 travel with me. That sort of got Norm's attention when we were discussing it last night. If we were going anywhere else except NYC, Norm would be the first one there. He just dislikes NYC

I hadn't seen the news either so unaware of the tornadoes. I also forgot that the Magic leaves to come back to FL today.

Will have to check out the other thread Live from the Magic. I seldom ever visit the regular cruise line thread.

Michele -- How terrible for Steve and his co-workers! Hard to believe they are all back at work and doing OK. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

After living in Illinois for many years, I don't remember Wisconsin (our neighbor to the north) ever having that many tornadoes. In fact, I can hardly remember them having any tornadoes at all, altho we did get a quite a few in Illinois (none where we lived, thank goodness). I worked with a nurse who lived thru a tornado in another suburb. She kept a a "tornado tracking" map on the back of her kitchen door and was really terrified whenever one came close. Shortly after we moved to Charlotte (1986), Hugo arrived to welcome us -- the first (and last, so far) hurricane to visit Charlotte. It arrived on our wedding anniversary so I always remember the date. Luckily, we had no damage except for the stockade fence which surrounds our pool blowing down.

Michele and Steve,
What a horrible night for you both. So glad Steve is OK. He and the girls he works with must have had an Angel watching over them.
Best Wishes to you both. And everyone else in the store when it happened. Hope they catch the guy before he hurts someone.

Michele - How scary! Glad that everyone is ok though. Hopefully they will catch the guy quickly. I think I'd be having nightmares for weeks about it.

We had tornado watches here on Friday night as a really, really bad rainstorm came through. The pictures of the flooding were amazing and our breakfast restaurant on the weekends was closed yesterday due to flooding -- although we still got to eat there as they were open for regulars. Cars were floating there was so much water. I had to walk through probably 4 inches of water to get to my car Friday night but luckily it started. I actually stayed at work later than I would normally because listening to the radio there was no point in heading home as there was a lot of flooding on the way home. Toronto actually has a series of rivers that go through the city -- although some are now underground so that some of the highways were actually flooded in the valley portions. We were fine but it's a good thing we didn't fill the pool up the day before. We were looking at the level of the pool on Thursday and were going to fill it up to the proper level but forgot -- we don't need to now as it probably put about 6 inches into the pool and if the pool level had been high to begin with the pool could have flooded.

Must go and start the day though as my brother, sisterinlaw and the three kids are supposed to come over this afternoon for a swim. Still have to clean up. Yuck!

Weather sucks here, to: For the last four weeks we had lots of rain and low temps only interupted by some hot days - unfortunately the hot & sunny days always were during the weeks, but the weekends were horrible. Keep your fingers crossed for us that at least Saturday 09/10 is good weather as we want do do a tour with about 25 convertibles to Möhnesee, a lake about 159 miles northwest of Frankfurt.

Eric, that sounds like a lot of fun! We love cruising with the car club! take lots of photos! Here is a cool photo that someone put together. This was from a few years ago. Ours is 4th row, 5th across.

Evening Everyone--- Just getting back from Hersheypark and seeing PR&R. It was a great show as always. We got in line 1/1/2 hours before showtime to get a good seat. The place was filled 1/2hour before the show even started. Some things I learned. Paul is 68 years old not 65 like I thought. Next year they are going to be performing from March through Oct at Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theatre in Branson,MO. I guess that means no PR&R at Epcot Flower Power in 2006. They also talked about the Oldies Cruise in Jan 2006, so if anyone wants to see him in 2006 you will just have to go on the cruise or head to Branson. As always they had member of the Rolling Thunder Ride to the Wall group. I know that the CD's he sells at all his concerts go to help veterans. What I didn't realize that it is unique to each state they perform in where the proceed from the CD go. I always thought it went to a national organization. He also has a new DVD that they made at Thanksgiving when they entertained the troups again with the proceeds going to the Vets. He always does a great job at honoring the vets. We only stayed for the 1st step, if it wasn't that it was a Sunday night we probably would have stayed for the 2nd set.

Cool picture Michele.

Fiona--- Glad you were able to make it home safely after the storms.

Off to catch AR. Last night was a repeat.

We'll take our digicams with us too, I can upload some pics then.
BTW, I'll upload some pics from our trip to Vienna later this week.
Probably no posts from me tonight: Anja does the lateshift again and so I'll spent the evening with Gramps.

So excited, had to share: Found out this morning that I got an upgrade (my 1st) for my upcoming Wonder cruise Sept. 18th with my 3 sisters. It's their first cruise ever. We were in a Cat. 8 (Dsis had to be able to see outside), and upgraded to a 5 with a verandah! I had checked my ressie online this morning and noticed the room # had changed, so I called to confirm. I get to sleep in the upper bunk too  ( I called it first! :teeth: )
Laura :flower:

WTG Laura! Congrats! Enjoy that cruise! I think it's a great idea. Wonder if my mom would watch all 4 grandkids so my sisters and I could go? hhhmmm.....

First: Congrats on the upgrade, Laura :cheer2:

Second
On the way to pick up Anja from the lateshift I got rear-ended by some dumb &%$*
First this lady left her lane in a curve towards my lane. I could barely avoid a collision, because I got very good reflexes and so braked very hard. She then got back into her lane and I passed her. about 300yards down that street a traffic light switched to red. I stopped at the red light about 50yards in front of that lady and already stood there for a couple of seconds when I saw her approaching in the rearviewmirror without slowing down. She started braking 15feet before the impact, I took the foot of my brake to lessen the impact and then I was kicked forward several feet, Her radiator exploded, her car crumpled like tin-foil. I then rolled some yards forward to get out of the way of that oily precipitation.
Fortunately a police cruiser was close by, heard the bang, switched on its flashers and pulled over. And even more fortunately the guy in the car behind that lady had witnessed everything and stayed at the scene and told the cops everything. That lady wore her belt and as I always buckle up nobody got hurt. Her car was totalled, ours looks surprisingly good. Her Volkswagen hit our convertible at the hardest possible spot :teeth: Nevertheless I estimate the damage to be at least five Grand, if not more :guilty:
The cops fined her on the spot €35 for dangerous driving :teeth:
I have to get in touch with her insurance tomorrow and have the damage assessed after work at the shop to have the car repaired ASAP.
I drove with the top down when the crash happened, and as the top is stowed in the upper portion of the trunk I was afraid that I would have to find a garage for the night, but to my surprise the trunklid tilted back as usual and the roof come up, too. The trunk also opend, but there was some additional resistance, so I guess something is bent

Ok, I just had to let some steam off, now I have to catch some Zs :wave2:

Eric - that is awful. Thank goodness there was witnesses and that everybody is ok.
Wendy

Oh Eric! So sorry about your new car! Glad you were OK.
Nancy, Glad to hear you guys had a good time at the concert. I hope to get those books in the mail to you tomorrow. Work was a killer today. Never even got a break for lunch. But hopefully will get off at 3pm tomorrow.

Laura, great news about your upgrade. Have you ever had a Cat. 5 before? We had a Cat. 6 for CTF II. Loved it. :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a good week.

Avé

Laura -- How fantastic that you and your sisters got such a nice upgrade -- Congratulations!

Eric -- I can't believe that your new car has been damaged in an accident so soon after you got it. How horrible! Luckily you were not injured and had a witness to the accident so you will get compensation from the other driver's insurance, but that is just so unfair.
