Pixie dust to Rosemary and Peter for their computer problems. Can totally understand that problem. Mike's right though that the program from microsoft that Jim installed has been great.

We have computer problems at work - our network was down twice yesterday and the accounting program isn't working at all. Problem with the accounting program down is that our office manager/bookkeeper can't write checks and we can't do accounts, open files, pay bills, transfer money etc. Yesterday they spent the entire day trying to fix the problem and it's not fixed yet. Since we deal with trust money we can't do anything until it's fixed. One good thing is that the 'money' partner can't bug me about getting accounts done!

It's supposed to be a nice day here today but I'm off to work.

Summer really got us now: Our car's thermometer showed 37°C/99°F on our gym's parking lot at 7pm, and even in the shade in our street it was still 34°C/93°F :sunny: Fortunately the humidity is very low and so it is bearable. We drove with the top down, but we had the a/c blowing cool air into the lower portions of the car :earboy2:
At the office most men wear shorts, the ladies skirts and halter tops. The 5gallon-bottles (Yes, we use the American system for that) of the water dispensers are replaced at least twice a day. Yesterday we had a group of high-ranking officers from the German Forces (Army, Air Force & Navy) touring the facility and so everybody had to dress up a bit, but fortunately it was a bit cooler then.
In the gym there's at least 60% less people than in the last weeks, only the true addicts like us still work out  Today I even added some weights during our Pump class in a pi**ing contest with our instructor :teeth: , but now I'm a bit tired :rotfl: So tomorrow we will just do a relaxing 6mile-run and a good stretch to get prepared for the weekend.
Anja has the weekend off and tomorrow we will be at a friends's birthdayparty. That friend's parties are usually very, very 'wet' so we will take a taxi to and from her place :drinking1 I usually down many, many of those mini-schnaps bottles there, Anja is a bit more reasonable, but it's a once-a-year thing ;) as the resulting hangover usually makes me refrain from drinking alcohol for some time :p

I'm very upset. Yesterday I was driving down the local road and a low lying branch swiped my car antenna and I lost my black mickey head antenna topper. Does anyone know of a catalog or store where I can replace it? I called the disney store and they only have the nemo antenna topper....
:(

I thought I would just pop on and let you all know that we won't be around this week! We are heading for Myrtle Beach in the morning. :sunny: I have all the clothes packed and the house is in order. Just have a few small load of wash to do and then I need to load up the truck. We are taking the Avalanche and meeting the chapter located in Columbia, SC on Saturday for a small...18 family :earseek: ...get together! Then we will be at the beach for the rest of the week. I am taking the laptop, but don't know how often I will get to log on...or if I'll want to! Once you have hi-speed, it's hard to use dial-up! :badpc: Maybe there is a Starbucks near by with a hi-speed connection! :moped:
Eveyone have a great week and stay cool! :cold: Eric...working out in those temps is just crazy...I don't care how fit you are! BE CAREFUL! Off to get the AV to clean it out, load it up and gas it up!

That just stinks! I know our store had them, but I am not going to get there anytime soon! Otherwise, I would get you one and send it! If I see one while on vacation, I will get it and send it when I get back! Can you wait that long though?? :teeth:

That would be great--dont go crazy though. If you do find one I will send you a check for the item and all shipping charges.

Thanks....

You're in luck. A while back, I bought about 5 extra plain black Mickey head antenna toppers because mine kept getting swiped. Well, then we bought our SUV without an external antenna. So, I have a bunch of extras. I found them just the other day in a drawer of my bakers rack. PM me your address and I'll send you one.

Will be home a bit late tonight. I'll fire up the Skype phone when we get home. Have an appointment at the bank to finalize the papers so we can pick up the car tomorrow :cool1: Can't wait!

Good to hear that your 'puter is up and running, Pete

Today I'll meet Jeff (Silentshot, the Britisher from Cruisetoberfest II) for lunch at The Golden Arch. He works on the opposite side of the town, but I will pick up our car's title from the manufacturer's bank, which is located over there too.

Greetings from Jeff, Folks :wave2:
We had 2 Quarterpounders (Hamburger Royal in Germany) w/cheese, fries, and a Diet Coke each :teeth: It was my second visit to McD this year and I think it will be sufficient for at least three months, but sometimes it simply must be :earboy2:
Now humidity cut in and today's 34°C/93°F really are a strain. Perhaps I'll do only 5 miles instead of 6 ;)

Eric - Every once in a while you just have to do McD's. My son on the other hand is going through a McD's stage. He seems to eat it all the time when he's home on the weekend but I know that he's not eating it at all through the week so I guess that's ok.

Btw our temperature is the same as yours today - together with a humidex warning and a smog alert. I, however, am in a nice airconditioned office.

Have decided that we Canadians are total wimps when it comes to complaining. Jim and I went out last night to dinner to a chain that's here in Canada although I don't think they are anywhere else. Anyway we had a problem with the meal and service and when I was complaining about it the manager (?) asked what he could do to make it better -- could not spit out - comp our meals. Ended up with 4 coupons for soup/salad free. Left no tip but didn't want to get the server into trouble and actually felt guilty about leaving no tip although the manager said not too. Wimp.

Just look forward....think what a wonderful meal we'll all have next Satuarday. :goodvibes

Doing a REAL :Pinkbounc Happy Dance :Pinkbounc ! My youngest son popped in last night for the weekend !! Haven't seen him in a year....Kim & Kevin knew he was coming.... :sunny:

No a/c for us, Fiona. When our CEO asked during an employee assembly before we moved to our new facility six years, wether we wanted a/c or not, a majority decided against it. We have automatic blinds on all windows, which during summer lower themselves at 5am to keep out the sun, we can open our windows, have individual fans in every cubicle, proper insulation on all exterior walls, and double-pane glass with an insulating gas between the panes everywhere. All this helps us to keep the inside temperature about 6-8°C/11-14°F below outside, which is exactly the maximum difference recommended by physicians. Nevertheless today this meant 30°C/88°F inside as the temp climbed to 37°C/99°F today.
It is very humid today, but haven't had any smog alarms for years due to extremely strict emission laws. We even didn't have an ozone alarm yet, but I'm sure that will come sooner or later. For tonight we have some thunderstorms predicted, but I'm skeptical so far.
We did work out in spite of the heat today: We ran for 55 minutes, did about 6 miles, did a short stretch and then called it a day. I've never lost so much sweat in such short time. Idrank about a liter during the run, another liter after the run. and one more 10 minutes later at home :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1
I guess we'll take a break tomorrow, just do some shopping in a nearby mall, spend a lazy afternoon, and then go to a party.
OK, we're gonna watch Episode III on DVD now :teeth: See Y'all

I think the big difference here is that we can't open the windows. We have blinds but have to admit that I keep one sort of open just to get some light. Without a/c we'd be roasting in the office -- it went out last summer and we were all dying because without the a/c there's also no air circulation. Even with the a/c some people still have fans in their offices/work stations.

Smog is a way of life here although they are working on getting it reduced. A lot of our smog comes across the border too so both sides are working on reducing it for everyone.

The city we live in though (which isn't technically Toronto) is very green though. We've had the largest recyling/blue box program for years. Now they've expanded the program to a green box for organic material. Should be interesting because starting July 1st we will have blue box/green box pick up every week but garbage only every two weeks and we are limited to 3 bags. We usually put out one bag of garbage every week but should be able to reduce that since the blue box program has expanded greatly and also with the green box program. Pretty much all plastic can now be recycled. They want to divert 70% away from landfills so we'll see how that goes.

Back to work - almost finished though and it's Friday. :cheer2:

See you then .. Family style is the way to go...

Jeanne -- Sorry for the late reply, but glad that you got Shopping in Paradise from Barb's site. I have been sick since we got back from our vacation and haven't been on the computer very much at all. First read your question to me today and then read that you had gotten the info. I still have luggage sitting all over the place waiting to be unpacked -- any "used" clothes were removed and washed the first night. From then it was downhill especially since I had to babysit our DGS the two days after we got back. Luckily he was content to relax and watch TV for a couple of days after our vacation so I could supervise from a reclining position most of the time.

Peter and Jenn -- We have a Maggiano's here in Charlotte and you're right -- they have the most delicious food! We love to eat there, and family style is definitely the way to go. Have fun!

Jeanniec-I've been to the Maggiano's in Philly, but where is ours in Charlotte? I'll have to try it sometime :flower:
Laura

We have a Maggiano's here in Tampa too, but I haven't gone yet. We keep talking about it, but we never make it over there. But, my birthday is coming up next month, so maybe we'll have to go there for my birthday dinner.
