All I can say is from my conversation last night with Peter, he did enjoy himself

I hope the same goes for Bette :teeth:

Thanks for Trip Report Part II, can't wait to read the next one!!

Hope that everyone had a great day. We were busy drooling over the $7,000 dollar embroidery machines that we can't afford. Mike

Mike,
I received a signed copy the contract for the new car today. The tag says: Five embroidery machines ;) but fortunately I got a rebate of one :teeth:

Won't be online very much tonight as Anja has to work the lateshift again and so I will use the opportunity to watch 'Sahara' tonight. And tomorrow it's Gramps-evening again while Anja does another lateshift. BTW, he celebrated his 92nd BD a couple of weeks ago.

Happy belated Birthday to Gramps! (When was his BD? Mine was the 5th, but he's got 40 years on me!) OK, so when are you going to post a photo of this AMAZING man?
We just got a new car (if you can call it that). It's a Chevy Avalanche and I HATE it! I feel like I need a freaking crane to get into the darn thing. And furthermore, if we were going to get a truck, wouldn't it have been smarter to get it BEFORE the move? The nice thing is we are able to lease it through the business since my husband travels to several different offices during the week and needs to transport lots of heavy equipment. As for me, I'm perfectly content with my 6 yr-old Durango.
Nancy: I haven't forgotten about the Gettysburg CD.....just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Kim: Did you ever come across those Ducky sketches? Jenn tried to get a real one, but I understand he was forbidden to carry his sketchbook. Just in case you got one, don't forget that I've moved so I need to give you my new address.

OH Jeanne!! Your breaking my heart! We are in a car club for the Chevy Avalanche and we LOVE OUR TRUCK! Actually, Steve just traded his '02 in on an '05. Maybe if you got some nice running boards for it, it would make it easier to get in? Also, If you are interested....www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com for the national site...it's FREE to join or just to look around. Our truck pictures are at www.picturetrail.com/wvbubba if you want to take a look. On June 25th, we are going to be meeting some members in Columbia, SC at the Capitol Chevy Dealer for a meet and greet and BBQ. Everyone is welcome! You should come on over!

I almost forgot! The reason I came over here! We have adopted a puppy! She is a GoldenDoodle Born June 5, 2005. The boys have named her Daisy...Daisy Doodle. Her Mom's name is Mattie Rose, so we thought a flower name would be good, and of course Daisy is also a Duck...it works perfectly! We should be able to go and pick her up sometime the first week of August. She is located just south of Lexington, KY. If I can get this right...here is her Newborn Photo.

Michele: OMG, I just have to laugh.....that is SO not me! But please take no offense, that's what makes the world interesting (and this thread such a great group!). I'm so glad you enjoy your truck, although I am scared stiff to drive that monster! But you have to consider the source....this comes from a true city slicker who didn't even learn to drive until after she was 30 and failed her road test more times than I care to admit. I do like the puppy, though!

Jeanne,
I also prefer smaller and sportier cars and being a city slicker as well I also got my license late. I got my bike license at 18, but obtained my car license when I was nearly 22 - and didn't buy a car before I was 26. I just loved riding my Yamaha too much. I still have one, but it is mothballed in my ex-wife's garage. Convertibles are much safer, but nevertheless I get that itching fro a bike each year in the spring - and sooner or later I may give in ;) Right now we're looking forward to getting our new convertible.
Gramps' BD was 5/13.

In case anyone wonders that I'm online: There was a big traffic jam on the Autobahn leading to the cinema and so I decided to drive home and do some grocery shopping I originally planned to do tomorrow.

Michelle,
that is a cute puppy!!!
I'm a member of an internet-community for our new car now. Perhaps we may even meet some of those other people and do a tour with them later this summer - We'll see.

Kim and Bette--- Thanks so much for the trip report. It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Jeanne--- You have plenty of time to get the CD to me, I have no plans to make a quick trip to Gettysburg right now. We avoid Gettysburg and Lancaster until after the tourist season is over. I am always amazed how many people come from all over the country to those 2 areas. We used to camp in Gettysburg alot when the boys were little and you could see license plates from as far away as Alaska.

I have been busy the past 2 weeks between mulching (and there is still a pile of mulch in the driveway) and having my house painted very little spare time to be on the internet. DS#2 best friend works the summers as painter, so he painted my entire house (except BR and baths) and ceiling for a bargain rate. It only took him 3 days to do, but is taking me longer to get it back together. I am home today, cleaned the carpet and trying to get the drapes back up. I can only live in disarray for a short period of time. I plan to paint the bedrooms and 1 bath before the summer to over. Why do I try to cram so much in over the summer months I will never know. Plus we bought a new ceiling fan over a year ago, maybe we can get that up sometime this summer.

Eric--- Congratuations on your new car. Norm keeps hinting that he wants either an a new SUV or Astro van. I keep telling him not until after the boys graduate from college.

Happy Belated birthday to Jeanne. Norm's was the 4th. Also Happy 92 to Eric's Gramps.

Michelle- What a cute puppy. How long till you can bring her home? I love dogs but once my 2 beagles are gone, no more for us. We just like to pick up and go and not have to worry about what you are going to do with the dog. Maybe when my boys finally leave home they can each take one with them.

I guess the other Jean is on her cruise. Lucky her.

Back to house work for me.

Nancy

thanks to all.....it has been 12 years since I have had a dog, so this is all going to be new again. We will pick her up the first week of August then the boys will have about 3 weeks to dote on her before school starts back. THEN it will be just her and I and I will be able to get some serious training and a schedule for all of us. It IS going to be hard since we do travel A LOT. I am PRAYING she won't be carsick and can travel with us to truck meets and to our parent's homes.
Jeanne, the AV is a little intimidating at first, but now I can drive it like it's a little sports car. Matter of fact, this past September we went and bought me a YukonXL Denali and I LOVE to drive it! I feel safe and I have the room I need for 2 kids, now the dog, all the junk they need and a few friends to boot! As you said, Variety is what makes the world go round!
We just got back from seeing SharkBoy and LavaGirl. It was cute. I probably won't buy it on DVD though. I did, however, buy the boys SharkBoy shirts at Old Navy yesterday and they wore them to the show. Now we are off to meet friends for dinner! Have a great night!

Michelle - very cute puppy. Can't wait to see pictures when she comes home.

Jeanne - Have to laugh about the car. The first van I bought I wouldn't take a test drive in it because I was afraid to drive it as it seemed huge. The very first time I drove it was when I drove it off the lot and home. Was terrified the entire way as felt I was driving a boat. Car before the van was a tercel wagon - big difference in size.

Back to work so I can leave shortly - and yes I know that it's already after 5pm!

Hi Everyone!
Looks like we have another storm heading our way. :guilty: I'm not worried, but DH is glued to the Weather Channel. :umbrella:
Kim, love the trip reports. Thanks so much for taking the time to write them.
Eric, Congrats on your new car.
Cathy, I got the Metro/DC stuff you sent to Mary. Thank you very much. The pocket Metro maps will come in very handy.
Rosemary, Our White House Tour has been confirmed for 10 AM on 6/24. :goodvibes
Later, Avé

Ave,
we're keeping our fingers crossed for you and both your families. The storm season is starting early this year :sad2: Hopefully it doesn't interfere with your construction work.

We did an early workout today: We ran 6 miles before breakfast. Now we're watching 'Trooping the Colours', the annual birthday parade for Queen Elizabeth II live from London. Although Lizzie's birthday is in April this parade is always held in June as there are higher chances for fair weather. We haven't missed in for at least the last ten years.

Fiona,
we hope your ear is better :wave2: BTW tomorrow evening we will watch the Formula One race in Montreal :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Ear is much better. Jim is still coughing etc. but the doctor said it was a virus so he just has to suffer through with Contac and a mouthwash that the doctor gave him.

It's very warm here already and should go up to 31C with the humidex even higher. There's also a smog warning too so it may or may not be too pleasant to be outside later on. The weatherman says it's going to rain here til Tuesday but we'll see what actually happens. So far it isn't raining.

Ave - batten those hatches. Have a great time in Washington too and on the White House tour! Very neat as I like The West Wing.

Fiona

It's a beautiful, sunny, hot and windy day here in NW Florida! You'd never know a Tropical Storm is so close. The rain was heavy this morning but no rain now :sunny:

LOVE the puppy! I assume it is a cross between a Golden Retriver, but what is the other breed?

Cathy, got the race broshure! Thanks so much!

Happy birthday to Gramps,Jeanne, and Norm!!! :bday: :bday: :bday:

Betty and Kim...your trip sounds wonderful. I would LOVE to do the Panama Canal one day.

Time to watch the Belmont!!

Daisy :daisy: is a cross between a Golden and a Poodle. The cross helps eliminate some of the health problems. It also will mean that she will be low to no shedding and could be hypoallergenic. Colton has asthma and I was wanting a dog that we had a better chance of being better for Colton. The low shedding is a bonus for me!

It is hot, hot, hot here today with no rain and boy do we need it. The grass which took so long to turn green after winter is quickly turning brown!

Jim and I went to a warehouse sale this afternoon and the warehouse had no air conditioning. By the time we left Jim had two mickey ears on the front of his shirt and I was wondering why I'd washed my hair this morning.

I love Cdn weather - we spend half the year complaining it's cold and the other half complaining it's too hot. :goodvibes

Welcome XlRacerXlx - we are great bunch to cruise with and I do wish that it meant we cruised for the rest of the month of October. This could happen I suppose if I win the lottery tonight -- it's $13 million. They actually have a new lottery here -- Payday -- you win $1,000 a week for life. The best part is that here in Canada lottery winnings are tax free so that would be $52,000 a year tax free. I'd never get that lucky but for $2 I have a ticket for next Thursday's draw.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Fiona

Folks,
I already received XlRacerXlx's info, but the update has to wait a bit as I asked him to provide his parents' approval for the info to be put on The List.
But this gives everyone another chance to submit additional or updated info.
