A thought for the newsletter....maybe you could feature a few families each time you do this? Like, we are fairly new to this bunch, and although I have gotten to know you through here, there might be other things we have in common that have not been mentioned. Each family could do a little write up about themselves, what they like to do, ect, and this way other families might find they have something else in common. Just a thought for the suggestion box!

Exactly my thoughts, Michele :wave2:
So go to your 'puter write something about your family , perhaps attach a pic, and send it to me.

I'll do a mailing tonight informing everyone about this.

BTW: Blue skies at about 5°C/41°F, which means that the top will come down in about 10 minutes when I leave work and head for the gym :sunny: :smooth:

Eric, sent you an e-mail about the newsletter. Let me know if you don't get it (check your spam folder first though ;) )

Jeanne,
you should see 'my' room: There are so many gadgets in it, that the electro-smog alone is sufficient to heat the room :teeth:
Same with my car: It has rain-sensing wipers, switches the lights on and off automatically, has GPS, a remote-controlled extra heater, etc.
In the living room our TV is hooked up to a VCR, a DVD, a Dreamcast, a Nintendo Gamecube, and of course a Dolby Surround System. Then there are some Gameboys - And the new Playstation Portable is also already ordered.
When we flew to Hamburg this weekend we had Hightech for about € 4000 in our carry-on: A Notebook, a PDA, Anja's iPod, my iPod, a Digicam, our cellphones.
Somebody has to keep our economy running :earboy2:

With all those "toys" I'm amazed you get any work done!

I LOVE the idea of a newsletter and I'd love to see funny pictures (as long as they're not ones of me!) I'm still waiting for a particular turtle photo to be made available for viewing!

Jeanne,
BECAUSE of the toys I get so much work done. You'd better watch some episodes of 'Home Improvement', HARHARHARHAR :rotfl2:

Love the idea of a news letter!
Tracy, glad to hear your surgery went to well. And thanks for the doggie info. Very interesting.
Been doing some family roots research for the upcoming family reunion. An old family friend who does genology (sp) for a living has been coming up with some very cool stuff. Found out my paternal grandmother was born in Krotzenburg, Germany. And came to the US in 1907 at the age of 14 on a ship out of Rotterdam. She was traveling alone! :earseek:
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

There is a Krotzenburg near Frankfurt, it is divided into two parts: Kleinkrotzenburg and Großkrotzenburg, which means Little K and Grand K.

Some of the idea's for the news letter I have passed on ..

of Course we could have the Real Estate section .. Homes for sale.

Sort of like a banker and Tradesman.. Jenn's favorite publication
it tells you what a home sold for, how much you put down and how much your Mortgage is... :teeth: Fun to know what is going on in your area..
and it is all Public knowledge...

The Help wanted Section... For folks like Sam and I Cause I hate the company I work for... and they will have a spot for a person SOON..

Dismeets and events ...

The classified section for selling Vehicles.. not that I :badpc: would want any of you to get stuck with my 1989 chevy pick up 4x4 for $2000.00 miles 149000
But Eric Can Drive it on a visit to the states...LOL

Will be fun.. :wave2:

:cheer2:The Sports section ... GO PATS... not to offend any Other fans of Any other team... but did See an auction on ebay For tickets to watch the Pats win...

We're thinking of booking this date for our next cruise. We were on the November 27th Eastern for our first cruise and LOVED it. Now, we're hooked :flower: There are 6 in our group: DH Greg (41), me (40), DD Nicole (8), DS Matthew (6), Grandma and Grandpa.

We all had a great time on the last cruise and the people we met from our thread on DISboards made it even more special. The kids loved having pen pals from our thread before the trip and we've been keeping in touch.

My DH is a little worried about the weather in October because of being at the end of hurricane season. How has the weather been on your previous trips?

Well, all for now. I've enjoyed reading your last few pages of posts. You really have a nice group! Hopefully we'll be joining you

Gailyn :wave2:

Welcome Popovich!!!! Nice to have some more new folks! Just when Eric was complaining about the slow but every growing list. :rotfl:
The weather in Sept/Oct has always been wonderful. We did have a slight change of ports during Hurricane Lillie, but the captain did a wonderful job of keeping us under sunny skies, and in calm seas. And sailing during hurricane season is NEVER dull. Right gang? :goodvibes

Peter love your suggestions re: the news letter. DH has a 1993 Ford f-150 with 91,000 miles. We could list it under Autos Not For Sale. LOL

Had to go into job #2 at 3AM today. :sad2: Night shift nurses were both sick. But got to come home early. Doing the same thing tomorrow. But will be home in plenty of time to watch THE GAME! :cheer2:

Later,
Avé

Gailyn,
It's a small world! I am originally from Bay Village! My Mom graduated from Rocky River, my Dad from Westlake! I know the name Popovich! Did Greg go to Bay High? Play football? I graduated in 1985. Steve graduated from North Ridgeville in 1982. ...off to find my yearbooks....
Welcome to the cruise! I wish it was closer then 600 days away! I would LOVE a Orlando trip this October. We'll just have to see what the finances say! Can't wait to meet you and your family! (if I haven't already!) <---can we make him our cruise icon? He's just too darn cute!

Hi everyone! Just checking in. Just been lurking on and off lately and realizing there's lots to catch up on. Hope everyone is doing well. We're fine. Love the banana icon also!
Mary- Chris went to lunch the other day at a little cafe here in Mooresville with some coworkers and Dale Jr. was with some buddies at lunch a few tables away. He just melts right into the crowd. Little Chris just got an ipod for his birthday. He saved up all his Christmas and bday money for it. Things are getting too high tech for me.
Eric- Gruss Gott! Wie Geht's! Love the newsletter idea. There's so many folks in our group, it'll help me keep up with everyone.
Jen and Peter- Sorry, our families are from Philly(grew up there) have to route for the Eagles. Plus, the wounds haven't healed yet from last year's Super Bowl with our Carolina Panthers. See you at the pool on the cruise:)
Laura

Have tons of pages to catch up on but just wanted to post that we are home. Had a great time at Pop Century and yup got the package Kim! Thank you for the goodies I can eat and stay awake at the same time.

Weather got quite cool on Friday but otherwise was great. Now back to snow and cold.

Will catch up tomorrow while doing laundry!

Hallo Laura,
uns geht es prima. Soll ich den Newsletter in deutsch machen?
For the rest: Hello Laura, shall I do the newsletter in German? :teeth:

Welcome to the gang Popovich,
please submit you info to the adress provided in my signature. It should consist of:
-First name & age of everyone
-Occupation of the adults
-Hometown/state
-Special occasion to be celebrated during cruise (If any)
-Stateroom
-Dining session
Your kids may submit their info additionally to cruisetoberkids@yahoo.com
They should incorporate info about their grade, hobbies, and what they are especially looking forward to do on the ship.
As soon as your info is submitted I'll do an update of The List and mail it to you and to the rest of the gang. The Kid's List is maintained by Ciara, who will also be waiting for your kids to send their stuff :wave2:
Looking forward to cruise with you

Eric aka Viking

PS:
This doesn't mean that there won't be a newsletter!!!

Edited for typos

Laura,
now I got it: You met Dale Earnhardt Jr!!! Coooool! I love racing. We went to the Charleston IMAX with Mary & Regina and watched the NASCAR-movie in 3D, which was absolutely great.

To Everyone:
Have a great Superbowl Night - Wether you support the Eagles or the Patriots. I guess going to New England in September, I have to support the Patriots :cheer2:
BTW,
will Janet Jackson be singing again? :rolleyes1

I have to apologize - I have not been checking the board lately and its taken me a long time to catch up. :teeth: :teeth:

Tracy - It's good to hear that your Lasik surgery went well. I have been thinking about doing it for some time but I have been chicken, I am -7.5 in one eye and -7.0 in the other, I have often thought how nice it would be to roll over at night and seen what time it is without having to put on my glasses.

Popvich - welcome to the board and I hope you go with us. We live in Brook Park so we are practically neighbors. What do you think about all this snow? I am tired of it already. Give me some :sunny:

Dale

Just got back from the main DCL board and found a very interesting post about five days of programs showing proposals made on the Magic! They start tomorrow 2/7 and continue every day until 2/11 at 1 pm. Thank goodness I am retired and can watch these since I never have been able to figure out how to program my DVR to record anything. Not exactly sure if the shows are on TLC or Discovery or the travel channel?? Also don't know how to post a link. Maybe someone else can do this. The title of the thread is "The Magic will be on TLC's Perfect Proposal 2/7 - 11" by lbgraves.

I found more on it. If you go to www.tlc.discovery.com it is on the top of the home page. Everyday on TLC, at 1pm, they will show another couple getting engaged. At the end of the week, on the 11th, we go back to the website and vote for our favorite couple. That couple will win $50,000! I'll have to set up my DVR so we won't miss an episode!
