We got bad weather over here: It has been raining for the last two days, we had a lot of wind, and now we even have tornado warnings. Temps dropped to 15C/59F day and below 10CC/50F night.

It's been very windy and cold here. by cold I mean in the 40's at night and 60's during the day, which is about 15 below normal. They say next week we should be back to normal. I am looking forward to that! Everyone continue to stay safe and dry!

Lily,
are you also one of those ladies who simply attach a handle to their closet and then let someone drag it to the airport? :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: It seems like it this time. I'm afraid when we go for the cruise...We'll be traveling for only 2 weeks, but I think I may have to go shopping! :lmao:

See everyone when I return. Thanks for the well wishes.

So Erik, are you saying overpacking is a bad thing? :confused3 I'll have you know that a 7 night cruise does require 10 pairs of shoes! :teeth: At least that's what I tell my hubby.

Tracey,
overpacking is not a bad thing, but mispelling my name is :rotfl2: Even though I'm German I'm Eric with a C ;)
As we will be 'on the road' for four weeks we'll also travel with a lot of luggage. And on the return flight we'll probably have even more, because we consider to give the American economy a considerable boost pirate:
And this year we'll have to pack smart: Most airlines have lowered their baggage allowance from 2 x 70lbs to 2 x 50lbs in economy class. As we'll bring our dive gear and also need to bring a lot of running gear due to our participation in the Race for the Taste at WDW, we have to pack very efficiently.

sorry for the mispelling ERIC...I relized it after I had posted! :sad2: My mistake has earned you a free drink at the sail away party!

Happens all the time, Tracey. I was just pulling your leg a bit ;)

Hi Folks,
I saw DaVinci Code yesterday. I liked it very much.

Greetings! (Guten Abend, Viking)

I am so happy to have found this thread.

My DH, DD (11), DS (7), and I are thrilled to be sailing with all of you on 10/14/06. :Pinkbounc

I highly doubt I can find time to go back over the huge number of posts I have missed to date, however, I hope it's okay to just jump in here and try to catch up somehow.

This will be our 3rd time on the Magic and we are hoping this thread can help us find some pen pals for our kids to get to know before we set sail. Our kids had pen pals prior to each of our other cruises and it was so exciting for them to meet their long distance buddies once onboard.

This appears to be a fun and friendly group, so I look forward to getting to know you over the next few months.

Vielen Dank, Viking, for starting this thread. :goodvibes

Ciao for now :wave2: The Zito family

Willkommen an Bord, Zitofamily :wave2:
I just sent you a PM - check it out

WELCOME ZITOFAMILY

Eric--- I will wait until the crowds die down before I see it. I actually liked Dan Brown's Angels and Demons book better than DiVinci Code. I felt the story gets lost in DiVinci because of all the symbolism (sp).

Have a great day.

Nancy,
there wasn't any crowd as I was invited to a special showing. Upon arrival at the cinema I was greeted by three pretty hostesses, who provided me with a lanyard holding a VIP-pass. Then I was ushered over to a cordoned off area where the first thing I got was a glass of champagne. There were waiters serving very yummy hors d'euvres and they also had an open bar. 10 minutes before the show started everyone slowly got into the theatre carrying a free drink and something to munch. Before the movie there was a short address by the boss of the Smart dealership Frankfurt and then the movie started without any commercials before it - everything was free, of course :teeth:

Thank you Eric and Nancy for the kind welcome.

Eric, I will PM you later with all our info. Danke. Bis später........ :wave2:

Welcome Zitofamily! You've picked a great bunch of folks to sail with (even if I do say so myself!) I look forward to getting to know you all better, and please, just jump right in. This thread is now longer than many books!

Glad you liked Da Vinci Code. We were away last weekend so we plan to see it this weekend ....at a bargain matinee, of course! My sister is visiting from NY so I told her we would see it with her. Isn't VIP treatment the greatest? Before I was a mom, I worked in advertising and the sales reps from many of the major magazines used to bombard us with tons of perks. My favorites were always the movie premieres!

Speaking of VIP treatment, we sure got it this weekend. As VP of her graduating class, Jen got to sit on the stage with all the dignitaries and we were invited to breakfast and lunch with them. We also got special parking and reserved seating in the hardback section. Since the ceremony ran just under 4 hours and was held in the football stadium, I can't imagine what it would have been like on those bleachers! The only thing that would have possibly made it better would have been if they wiped out all the college loans as a graduation gift!

Welcome Zitofamily! Just jump right in. We're a friendly bunch.

Sounds like quite the grad ceremony -- the length of them always amazes me even when I was the graduate!

Busy at work as month end is coming up.

I forgot to mention that I read a great book this weekend: "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. It was on the NYT bestseller list several years ago and it is truly a fabulous read. It is nonfiction and is essentially 2 separate stories in one. The first is a very accurate and well-documented account of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair (also known as the Columbian Exposition) from the perspective of the original architects. The second story is the grisly tale of a Jack-the-Ripper type serial killer who may have murdered up to 200 women during that time. The juxtaposition between the technical and the gruesome makes it a very fascinating and quick-moving narrative. Disneyphiles will find it even more interesting since one of the chief carpenters was Elias Disney (father of Walt). Although Walt was not born until the Fair was over, it definitely had a major influence on his life and work.
I'm sure that many of you would enjoy reading this, especially Eric, who always loves to learn about new things and Marianne, who lives in the Chicago area.

Welcome Zito family!
Jeanne - what a lovely day Jen's Graduation sounds.

Jeanne,
did you know that Frankfurters were invented for the Chicago World Fair?
And that they aren't even from Frankfurt, but from Neu-Isenburg, the city my company is situated in?
