Welcome to Beth and Ali!!
We chose to rent a car to the port, then DH will take it back to the rental after dropping us off at port. It was only $30 to the port and $40 back to the airport. If we had done transfers, it would have been $200 for our family of 4. For just the 2 of you, I would concider transfers, only because it's worth it for them to handle your luggage. OR I would rent a limo! It IS your honeymoon after all! Of course, car pooling with others would be an economical option too! Will you be at WDW before the cruise?

It will be DH and I. We will use town car from airport to WDW and I think Cruise Line transfer to port from there and back to WDW after cruising.

and it is nice to "meet" some of the folks ahead of time! :thumbsup2

We just got back from WDW (3/1-8) and have a few days left on our MYW tickets, so we'll probably fly down early on Friday, play in the parks and go over to Cape Canaveral on Saturday.

Question: what would be the best way to get from WDW to the dock? :listen:

Thanks lots :)

Ali

Hi everyone! Speaking of transportation, does anyone know if you still stand in a very long line to board the DCL buses after the cruise?

I have chemical allergies and the bus fumes in 1994 were so toxic to me that I had to leave my DH and DGC in line and go sit on a curb up wind as far from the bus fumes as possible in order to not be sick. I had to explain to a security person why I was out of line and away from the crowd by myself, but they gave me permission and kept a watchful eye on me. The bus company probably doesn't realize how toxic the fumes can be.

The ironic thing was, after waiting in line we couldn't check our baggage with the airline anyways because we were marked for an extra security check at the airport. Could have been on the bus from the start!

Because of the hurricanes, we we rerouted to another airport with no DCL buses and took a town car from the airport to the terminal. Our drive was horrible ~ the driver was all over the road and kept jerking the wheel; finally the youngest granddaughter threw up in the car and everyone else was half car sick also.

Any recommendations?

:rotfl2: Another survivor of the Big Dig!

Thanks for all the welcomes and info! We'll be staying at BWV the night before the cruise (Friday the 13th . . . just realized that one) and may opt for a town car or limo as a splurge. It will probably depend on the final costs for the wedding! ;)

If you arrange a mini-meet in Boston, that is affirmative - Otherwise: No, as he will not be cruising with us this time. He intended to, but then switched to the 11-day-crusie in September.

I watched a show about the Big Dig which was on Discovery Channel this past weekend. Didn't see the entire thing but watched enough of it -- they spent a lot of time talking about how there were noise measures in place to prevent it from interfering with people's sleep.

Thankfully Jim has driven every time we've had to drive in downtown Boston! What a nightmare and I thought downtown Toronto was bad.

I didn't think that driving in Boston was that bad, but I guess having mastered traffic in Paris and London helped a lot ;)

Good morning everyone!

:offtopic: Has anyone bought their plane tickets yet? What do you think a good time frame would be?

Since we will pay extra $$$ for flying out of a local commuter airport I am not really sure how long to wait what a good price would be. I keep checking every week and right now we can fly for $277 @ person. Our closet major hub is 4 hours one way, yuk! My major worry is that we will not be seated near each other since there is 6 of us.

Also, do you think we could make a 12pm flight out of MCO?

Thanks.

Diana: I've purchased my tickets already, but now I'm kinda sorry I did since they're with Delta. The business section had an article on them today that was predicting they will probably not be able to survive since they are totally out of cash and any options to borrow more. I purchased them with a credit card but paid for them a month or two ago. Does anyone know if VISA will refund my money if they end up going out of business?
Anyhow the tickets we purchased were under $200 ea (about $178) and we arrived at 8:15 pm. I think we are returning at around 1pm which shouldn't be a problem at all. Last time we had the same flight and we left the ship at 9am, had a bus driver who got lost because he had to take a detour due to a major accident and we still arrived with lots of time to spare. We took the DCL bus to the airport so we didn't have to worry about luggage or check-in. I should think that a flight at noon would be fine as long as you don't dilly-dally at the terminal. What kind of transportation were you thinking of taking back? I think the DCL bus would be best and you can purchase those transfers one way while you're on the ship.

:cool1: Thanks Jeanne. I bought a ticket with US Air in Nov. 94 to fly to meet up with my sister in Orlando in Feb. 05 and was okay although they were going bankrupt. I was uneasy though.

We are using the DCL bus both ways. I thought it would be easier with the 4 kids, especially since the youngest is 2 1/2 and Jeninpa hasn't flown before.

We have two airports, north and south of us, that is only 26 miles away with cheap long term parking or else a family member can drop and pick us up.

The last time DH and I took the kids, we flew out of Harrisburg at 6am (2 hours away). We stayed in a hotel in Harrisburg the night prior, but still was up 3 am ~~ makes for a very long day, especially with kids.

I just don't know how long to wait to purchase and I surely don't want to pay much more.

Decisions.....decisions......decisions!

aunts2topher,

Saw in your sig that you'll be honeymooning on the cruise. Congrats! :yay: DW Shelly and I will be celebrating our 20th. :)

We're new to the group as well. Welcome! :wave2:

Hi Dave and Shelley:
I just checked out Eric's new list and discovered that we are going to be neighbors! We're cabin 7120 which means there are only 2 staterooms between us! We'll bring the wine....woohoo!!!

Hello all!
We have our air tickets purchased. Just looked and they are on Delta as well. We fly out of Charlston, WV and transfer in Cincinnati, OH. We are paying for 3 tickets....$731.04 and getting one ticket on Flyer Miles. If you divide the total by 3, it's $243.68, but if you divide by 4..since we are getting a free ticket, it's only $182.76. We purchased through Expedia. We also have a rental car for both legs of the shuttle..it was cheaper then the bus service, although we'll have to do a bit of work, it's worth the savings.

Jeanne, if you're bringing the wine, we'll bring the cheese and crackers! Meet you on deck 7! (we're in 7504 adn 7506!)

And we'll join you there - we'll bring something - not sure what yet!!
Welcome aunts2topher
Wendy
