:rolleyes2 Darn! I saw one recommended on the DIS budget board for $10 and ordered it last evening. I thought I would use it as my carry on for medicine bottles, camera, snacks, bathing suit, and anything extra during the flight. Then use it as a cooler in our room and for excursions. Should have waited for a reply on this site.

Mike ~ Do you think this would be acceptable? It would be the same as taking a small carry-on suitcase with wheels wouldn't it?

Oh well ~ even if I can't take it on the cruise I'll use it at the little league games. We never have enough bottles of water along. I can also use it when I go to Sam's Club so it won't be a total waste.

Thanks for the information.

I forgot to mention. What I bought is a soft sided cooler. Does that make a difference?

Ha,ha....ME TOO!!!!!

It seemed like such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. Your idea sounds fine to me....with one tiny glitch: if you use it as a carry-on with other stuff in it, where are you going to get the water, soda, etc to fill it? What I like to bring with me are those little individual bottles of wine that come in a four pack. That way we can enjoy a glass one serving at a time and since John and I have different wine preferences it works out exceptionally well. I usually pack them in my regular luggage but very well cushioned. Sometimes I still have a few bottles in my carry on and that has never been a problem with the ship's security...I guess it's all a matter of degree. You mentioned that you were bringing medicine with you.....that may give you an edge if it's the kind that needs to be refrigerated.

The last time we went, my DH took a softsided cooler as his carry on that only had a shoulder strap filled with our medicine bottles (nothing that needed cooled and they tell you to bring original bottles which is a pain since my bottles are a 90 day supply), cameras, and little bottles of water. It was filled to the max and too heavy for me to lug around. Each grandchild also had their own water bottle in their backpack so we had plenty of bottles to refill with water from the drink station. We each took one bottle of water home and threw the others away on the ship. I guess I'm cheap!!!

We also took a duffle bag filled with beach toys along and left the toys on the ship (we never made it to Castaway Cayt) so I can always put the cooler in that bag instead of using it as a carryon, right?

It was a good buy and I'll use it anyway.

Hi everyone... can't believe I just found this after having been a long-time DIS boards user and having been booked on this cruise since October 2004! We are going for our 10th anniversary and are bringing all the kids (we have 4) as well as extended family and friends! Look forward to seeing everyone in 7 months!

Welcome Hieatt!!!!! You picked a great bunch of people to sail with!

Tell us more about yourselves! Ages of children, first cruise?, stateroom #, etc?

Looking forward to learning more about you and eventually meeting!

Welcome Hieatt!! (how do you pronounce that? or what does it stand for?)

Cincy isn't that far from me either! We are born and raised Buckeyes transplanted into WV. I'll have to say

GO TRIBE!

It's pronounced like the hotel (Hyatt).

We have 4 kids, 2 girls ages 8 and 6, and 2 boys, ages 4 and 2 (ages at time of sailing).

Our family is in staterooms 6528 and 6530. However, as I mentioned, we are traveling with a pretty big group (grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends from school, etc.), and our group occupies staterooms 6518, 6524, 6526, 6532, 6534, 6536, 6537, 6538, 6540, 6542, 6544, and 6546!!

This is our second Disney Cruise... we went on a 4 night for our 5th anniversary back in October 2001 (when we just had two kids)...

Well, here I am, reluctantly jumping into the fray. Greetings from a fellow 10/14/06 cruiser.

This will be our second cruise on DCL. We were on a 3-day Wonder back in 2001, when we only had 1 child.

Now, it will be me (DH), DW, DD (8), and DD (4). We are really looking forward to this cruise, especially the two stops at Castaway Cay.

The last time we cruised, we were with my wife's family and while we had a great time, I hated trying to coordinate everything with them. I am REALLY GLAD that we are doing this with just us this time around.

While my wife and I really aren't looking to make a bunch of new friends on this cruise (please, no offense intended to those of you who have clearly made good friends on pervious cruises), I wanted to get us out here so that I could potentially get my girls connected with some other kids their age before we left.

Anyway, that's the scoop from us. Can't wait until October!! party:

WOW!! You're going to have a entire deck dedicated to your family! I am now calling Deck 6 the Hieatt! Our boys will be 9 and 11 at cruise time and we will be in rooms 7504 and 7506.

WOW! your group is nearly as big as ours!!!!! I know it's your 10th anniversary, but is the group celebrating anything else? (Yes, Michele, from this point on we shall have to refer to Deck 6 as the Hyatt!)

Welcome to the other new cruising family as well. No offense taken to your desire to not want to mingle. It's your vacation and you should spend it however you like. And I wouldn't be surprised if after posting here, you change your mind! Either way, come and meet us at the sailaway, so we'll recognize you when we one another onboard!

First off...WELCOME!!!!
Second.... NO offense taken! Please don't feel like you have to do EVERYTHING with us. I don't intend to do everything with everyone. That said, it WILL be nice to see people I know at dinner, in the halls, at the pool, playing BINGO or singing kareoke and be able to have a converstion or cheer them on. This is our second Disney cruise and our first time with the Cruisetoberfest gang. I have not met anyone, just know them through our conversations and I can't wait to meet them in person! This is a great bunch of people!
Again....WELCOME!

That's disappointing to hear - I thought that a cruise would be the best possible way to vacation with extended family, as everyone can go their own way. In any event, I don't plan to coordinate anything with the people in our group... seeing them at dinner is sufficient!

Farewell and have a great voyage everyone. We decided to go on a 7-night cruise in August, so we switched this one to December 2007. It was nice meeting you all! :wave2:

Wow! This thread has gotten so long! (granted I haven't visited in almost a year so it figures).

I feel out of the loop with this bunch. Is there a list somewhere of all the cruisers for this week? (don't have time to read all those replies!!)
