Great joke Kim:rotfl2: Eric a mini meet in the mid atlantic region would be great.

Hope that everyone is staying warm and dry. Marianne hope that everything is working out for you.

Jeanne, I just knew you would want to give Dr. John an exemption. :rotfl:

Got to get ready for the Mardi Gras Parade!

jeanniec: how are you doing in Charlotte with the wintery weather? I heard you guys got lots of ice.....power still on? We had advisories all day yesterday but it apparently just missed us. I went shopping yesterday for "comfort" food and now I have no excuse to eat it!

No Disney cruise for us this year.......we booked the Holland America cruise to Alaska since my husband has been anxious to do that for quite some time now. We were able to use our DVC points (192 ea.) so all we'll have to pay for is the airfare and optional land package. Hubby and I are so freaking tired of selling this house that we've made ourselves a promise: when the deed is finally done we are going to reward ourselves with a mini-vacation to WDW and stay at a concierge room in the Polynesian. It's been like the light at the end of the tunnel for us.

We rented "Ladykillers" last night......did anybody actually like that movie?!?
The language was SOOOOO bad, I couldn't believe Tom Hanks actually took that role....especially since it's a Disney film (one of the subsidiaries). No wonder they didn't show it on the cruise when I went last summer. It was so offensive I had to check the box to see the rating (R). Is it just me or did anyone else see it and feel the same way?

Jeanne -- We did have a little snow and some ice yesterday but not enuf to cause any power failures. Did have some traffic problems with accidents and one 11-car pileup. The newscasters were doing their thing pointing to the snow on the ground (just a light dusting) as tho it were a really big deal. This morning there was a newscast babe who was actually up in a tree pointing out the "light coating of ice". I could hardly believe it. Today it is all melting.

My sister in-law went to see Ladykillers and loved it. I never did have any interest in seeing it -- just not my kind of movie even if it is Disney related.

Papa--Thanks so much for thinking of me. Things are going okay. As well as can be expected, I guess.

We finally got some temps in the 30s this week. I just wish the sun would come out for any length of time. I really can't stand the cold weather.

I'm looking for somewhere to "run away", maybe for a long weekend; but I'm having difficulty working out both the finances & the time. My next two weekends without the children are already planned (of course, plans can change, I guess). So I'm looking at sometime in March!

I interviewed for the position of Branch Manager's Assistant at my company in Springfield, IL, in late December. The manager still hasn't made a decision, which is really bugging me because, at the interview, he really stressed the urgency of it. I was getting down about it last week. So I finally e-mailed him to "restate my interest", and he replied (among other things), "Your candidacy is still very viable." That's a good sign, isn't it? I think he's just the type of person who drags his feet, and it has nothing to do with me. Keep your fingers crossed--I would really like this position, and I think the move will do me good!

Otherwise, just going thru the junk in my house--separating garbage from garage-sale stuff. Packing what I can. I want to be able to move as soon as something opens up.

Hope everyone is doing well. Avé--don't be hoarding all those beads, girl! Share the wealth!

Love, Marianne

Peter,
making a weekend trip to NYC would be great!!
We bought a 'Boston & New England' guidebook yesterday in Hamburg and I already started looking into the local attractions ;)
Unfortunately our flight from Hamburg to Frankfurt was stuck at the gate for 15 minutes, because we had to wait for some passengers, then we went into the holding pattern over Frankfurt due to an emergency landing (Which went well), so I had the opportunity to read a lot of the book.

We went to AAA Cruise/Travel day this afternoon. We went to RCCL presentation on ports close to home (Baltimore, Philly and NJ), Princess Cruise lines for the Caribbean (they have a new ship that just does the Caribbean) and to RCCL Alaska presentation (last year we went to Holland America Alaska presentation). We are looking at doing Alaska once all the kids are through college so between now and then I guess I'll go to all the cruise lines Alaska presentations to compare. If we cruise this year in Oct, I think we might try Princess. Norm wasn't impressed with the ships from the port close to us and really it is so cheap to fly to Florida verse the extra sea days to get to the Caribbean from sailing from this area. I really should get a part time job at AAA as an escort for their tours. One of the nurses at work does that and has been everywhere at a minimum cost. I now have tons of reading material to look at over the winter. Plus, AAA had a luggage sale going on so got 2 new pieces of luggage at 25% off.

Jeanne--- Glad your knee is doing better. Congratulations on 1000 posts. I think I remember you saying that you were going to Alaska in late August. The RCCL said that late Aug and early September are good times to go. So how many days are you adding on with the land part. I found the Alaska and Western Rockies add on very interesting more than the Alaska add on. I remember Mary Jo talking about the Alaska cruise, plus one of my friends did Holland America Alaska last year and she wasn't real thrilled about going, but loved it.

Jeannic--- Glad you didn't have alot of ice. We had just an 1" of snow today.
I don't think our cars will ever get washed until spring.

Marianne--- Hope things work out for you.

We got word from the man who was working on our snowblower that the part he needs isn't available anymore. So I guess since the blower is over 15years old, it is time to buy a new one. Now the trick will be to find one since the lawn mowers are out.

Hope Eric and Anja are enjoying their weekend away.

Mary--- Good luck with the house selling.

Ave--- Did you get alot of beads?

Guess, I will go start dinner. Charmed is on tonight, so want to get the meal out of the way and cleaned up.

Nancy,
We did a Princess Cruisetour in 1999 on the Crown Princess that no longer exist. They have much newer and larger ships now. IMHO, Alaska is not to be missed. It is the most beautiful and scenic place I have ever seen. I would pass up a cruise or trip to almost anywhere to go back to Alaska. Maybe someday DCL will go to Alaska..

We went to Disney on Ice yesterday afternoon and had a great time. Good thing I brought Haley's light chaser that I bought at the Disney Store with us, because they were selling them for $18.00 (I paid $5.00)! :earseek: The programs weren't bad - they were $10.00, but the rest of the stuff was really marked up. We had great seats - Row 9 and towards the corner of the ice. That wound up being great since all the characters hung out and performed at our end. That was the first time I've ever been to a Disney on Ice show and would definitely go back again. Haley loved it since a lot of the characters were there. We go to Sesame Street Live in March, but somehow I don't think it'll be the same.

One more thing, so who is going on the Repo Cruises from our group besides Kim, Bette and Peter and Jenn? Anyone going in August?

Ave: I'm more interested in HOW you got the beads.........

Nancy: we are already booked and confirmed on Holland America's 7-night 9/4 sailing. If you and Norm would consider coming along, we would be THRILLED! We are looking over the add-on land packages to see which one we like best. If you have their catalogue, it would end up being cruisetour #18, 16, or 14 beginning in Fairbanks on 8/29,8/30 or 8/31,respectively. I was toying around with the airfare and it's gonna be a you-know-what to book it since it isn't really a roundtrip. Once we decide what land package we're doing I think I'm gonna call HA directly and have them book it for me since I'm sure they deal with this all the time.

OK, when exactly is this rendezvous in NYC with Eric and Anja? Remember, I'm the one born and raised in Manhattan and alot of my old haunts are still up and running today! Besides, we'll use any excuse to come back home and we'd love to hook up (my kids tell me I really shouldn't use this term but old habits die hard) with A&A and P&J again.

Jeanne,
we plan on Flying into Boston on Friday 09/30 and staying til 10/15, which means that we'll spend both our birthdays in the USA - and our Reunification Day.

That's not looking good for us. Here's our itinerary for the later part of this year:
late August through 9/12: Alaska
9/14 through 9/18: John's Retina Society in Coronado, CA (He ABSOLUTELY has to attend this year because if you miss 3 years in a row, you're kicked out and it's a very difficult society to get into. We were on the Magic during the 2004 meeting and as luck would have it, we'll be on the Magic again during the 2006 meeting, so it is MUY IMPORTANTE that he make the one this year!)
9/24 through 9/28: John accepted an invitation to teach a course in Maine. Since he receives no income for it, they will wine and dine us nicely and I had planned to accompany him as neither of us have ever been to Maine.
10/14 through 10/18: mandatory annual convention in Chicago.

Technically, we should probably be free the first 2 weeks in October, but after being out of the office so long in September and having the convention just 2 weeks away, I'm sure there's going to be LOTS of catch-up work. Fares from Raleigh to NY are usually very inexpensive so it's still conceivable we could fly up for a quick 2-nighter. What I won't do for a NY bagel!

Boy Jeanne, Am I there with you. Nothing beats NY bagels ( salt bagels are the best) or pickles. I have a gallon of pickles in my fridge courtesy of Tulirose, Oh they are soooo good. If we make a trip to the city this spring ( 4 hr drive) I will let you know and can always fed-ex a care package to you.

Bye, Kim

What a day at work today ... I just want to lay on the floor and :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . I find it really hard to deal with people that don't read any of the materials we send them and call us to have us tell them what they already have in their darn hands (does that make any sense?). Then to make matters worse, end up working thru lunch with a guy that smelled like he fell in a vat of Jim Bean with a case of stale cigars ... I almost
puke1.gif
... after he left I had to get out the handy dandy spray. I know, I know :charac2: :charac2: :charac2: .

Maryanne ... Are your ears burning? The other day Art was listening to some of the Patsy Cline you were singing at Karaoke. Hope things are more calmed down for you on the home front for your sake and the kids. You and Andy need to get together and do a duet for Karoke in 2006.

Well gotta run and try and get some of my scribled notes into something readable before a senior moment takes over!
