Michele,
what's FWIW?
And please make sure that Daisy is housebroken before you send her over :teeth:

Pete & Jen,
I just received 'National Geographic's Traveler Boston & Area'. There's lots of information in it. Additionally they list several day-tours.

Eric...sorry, FWIW = For What Its Worth

Also, I have lost 5 pounds this week! I am sure it is because of Daisy! I have been walking her everyday...up to 3 times and I walk her around the yard to get her to potty...otherwise, Lazy Daisy just sits or lays down! I haven't moved this much in years! :daisy:

Good Morning!

I'm pitifully far behind on this thread.

Ended up having the granddaughters here for 4 days last week and they keep me hoppin'. Their other grandma usually keeps them one day, but she went to play the slots somewhere. I took them to the park every day after dropping Josh off at summer band practice. The highlight  of that was the day we got to the park and the entire playground was TP'd and an egg broken on every slide but 3. I'd taken a hand towel to wipe dew off the slides, but wasn't up for dealing with eggs. Still had a good time. Had a chuckle with the maintenance guy who helped us clean up.... it was really good quality TP and we figure someone's Mom was going to be ticked.

Melody--Love the pictures of Amelia. What a cutie.

Ave'--You can probably count us in on the Radisson. Really enjoyed it last time. Still a while to plan. I need to get my hands on a school schedule for next year.

Wendy--Congrats on the test results! I sent you a PM for a link to see your vacation pictures.

Ave'-- That's a big chunk of $$! Sounds like it will be worth the expense though. I also noticed the Radisson's prices were higher. Last time, I booked an internet prepaid price that was very reasonable. Wonder if they'll have it again.

Jeanne--Congrats to your son! I also checked into Sudoku after you mentioned it here and I'm addicted!

Eric-- If I'm not too late, I'd like to see the Harrison Ford Commemorative Chart also. Sometime when I'm not so rushed, I should tell you about the fitness program Josh is participating in through school. It's very nice.

Arlene-- Maybe I've been getting your email notifications. I sometimes get two or three for every new post that's made! :rotfl:

Michele-- Daisy is adorable! But, I have to say, better you than me with all the puppy stuff. Our Ginger will be 7 years old next month and is pretty mellow and knows all the 'rules' now. I still keep saying never again! Congrats on the 5# loss this week!

Fiona-- When will you be at WDW? We're going for a long weekend Oct 14-17.

Rosemary-- A big thanks for taking over the magnets!

Nancy-- I like the Janet Evanovich books too. Haven't read Eleven yet, but will soon I'm sure.

I think I may actually be caught up! :Pinkbounc Not for long, I'm sure. My parents are coming in later this week, staying with us for about 1 1/2 weeks. They spend their summers in NY State, winter in Florida, so they'll be heading back south mid-Sept.

Take care.
Colleen

I had a fun evening last night........passed another kidney stone (my fifth!). Yowsa, is that painful! I'm getting really good at it though, this one only took about an hour and I was smart enough not to go to the hospital after last year's fiasco. I only wish my golf game (or dancing, or driving, or swimming) would improve as readily since those are skills I'd like to use! I feel fine today so hopeully all is well. It was August last year also.
Nancy, haven't had a chance to check out the link, but I intend to take a serious look at it. Is it something you (and anybody else) might be interested in? I'm watching AR3 again because John never watched it. Ian and Terry are even worse the second time around. She's just plain annoying, but him I just wanna smack....he gets me so mad!
Wendy: I agree with you about WotW......especially that ridiculous ending! Brace yourself for Hotel Rwanda....it's a great movie but quite disturbing. I thought Jamie Fox did an excellent job in Ray, but after seeing Hotel Rwanda, I realize that Don Cheadle got robbed
Jeanie: so sorry about your mom's condition, but glad she's in a good facility. They are not easy to find.
Ave: so when's the move happening?
Rosemary: yes, it's jeanne-g (my middle initial). But don't feel stupid, whenever my kids tease me about my internet buddies, they call me jean-neg!

Colleen - We'll just miss you as we'll be there Oct 1st - 10th -- just had to take advantage of the free dining.

Jeanne - kidney stones are no fun although I have to knock on wood that I have no personal knowledge of this. Both parents have been through it and my mom went through it while we were on vacation in Washington when I was a kid. She was miserable.

Not quite as humid today which is nice.

Must get back to work as I promised Jim I'd be home early tonight -- I said I'd be home early last night and didn't make it so tonight I'm really hoping.

Fiona

Jeanne - hope that is the last of the kidney stones, sound extremely painful. I think I will watch Hotel Rwanda with a box of tissues next to me. From the clips I have seen I know I will enjoy it more than WOTW.
Michelle - I admire you, I know I could not deal with the mess dogs made, but mind you I have enough of a job coping with any babies. Maybe that explains why I have no children! Of course the fact that I am single may also explain it!
Wendy

Jeanne-- The kidney stones sound awful! Hopefully, you won't have any more.

Wendy-- Thanks so much for the link to your pictures. They were wonderful! Making me even more anxious for our trip in October, plus I had to get something to eat from looking at all of the food.

Fiona-- Yes, we'll just miss each other. We're hoping to meet with Amy, Chris and the girls while we're there.

Better get some work done while the girls are napping.

Colleen

Hi Everyone!

Colleen, Great job catching up. You must have been taking notes. :)
JeanneG, Have you started your kindey stone necklace yet. A very interesting conversation starter. :rotfl: Glad you're better. Moving the office weekend of Sept 10th. Moving into the new house?????? Maybe sometime in Oct. Don't know for sure yet.
Michelle, Glad the little pooper is feeling better. :dog:
Wendy, NO KIDS?! You're a teacher right? You've got more kids then the rest of us put together. :teacher:
Eric, Hope you had fun with gramps. I saw a movie the other day with Johnny
Depp called "Blow". Very interesting, and disturbing.

House news: No new house news. :earboy2:

Later, Avé

Yes but at least with my 150 kids I get to hand them back at the end of the day!

Here is a handy link that calculates the cost of fuel for driving from one city to the other in the US. Saw this on the local news cast. Fuel Costs Mike

Jeanne -- Are you drinking cranberry juice? That's what we used to tell patients who had kidney stones to prevent them. That is probably ancient history by now. I know how painful they can be -- not personally, but from taking care of patients who had them and Sam also who has had only one and that was many years ago. Five is awful altho this last one thankfully didn't hang around for long. Do you order strainers in bulk or maybe you don't even use them??

Speaking of Johnny Depp, took my DGS ( 6y/o) to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today. We both really enjoyed it which surprised me. There were some comments in the film that I found rather adult-oriented. The similiarity between Willy Wonka and Michael Jackson which has been mentioned in a number of reviews is eerie. At the beginning of the movie, Gavin turned to me and said "he's weird". Didn't seem like Willy's voice could really belong to Johnny Depp -- so much like MJ's in pitch, etc.

My great niece (she's 4) went to see it the other day and gave her Grandma (my much older sister!) a running commentary on it comparing it to the original - boy do I feel sorry for her first grade teacher next week.
Mum and I both loved it - she even stayed awake which is unusual for her!
Wendy

Mike, thanks so much for that site! I hope they update the costs on it soon though! I don't think they are accurate. Gas is at $2.69 and I was told by a gas station worker that it is going up again in the morning! I passed it on to my sister as they are planning a trip!

Thanks for the explanation, Michele
Lots of docs over here recommend dogs for people who want to lose weight or simply want to work on their fitness. Although losing weight is not always an indicator for working out: Yesterday I put on some pants I bought last summer and which were a perfect fit then. I nearly lost them over the day and had to readjust them a couple of times as they were very loose :rotfl2: I lost about 2 inches around my hips and butt since last year without any change in weight!!! But some of my shirts are a very tight fit now ;) We increased the work with weights during the last year and so 'shuffled' the distribution of body mass.

BTW: Jeanne & Nancy,
I won a prize for my participation in the Tour de France-promo at our gym: €12.50/$15 as a credit on my club-card (Good for drinks, food or sunbed) It will buy me three free sessions on the sunbed :sunny: :cool1:

Colleen,
I'll send you an HF-chart tomorrow. I won't be online today. Anja does the lateshift again and I'll go to the cinema for a sneak preview with a co-worker. I won the tickets on AOL :teeth:

Jeanne,
glad that you got rid of that kidney-stone. I would be unnerving when we stroll through NYC and had to hear the rattling all the day :rotfl2:

I watched 'Heat' last night with Gramps. His commentary after 3 hours of violence: 'That was a tough movie' ;)

I bought some movies yesterday:
-Catwoman
-Hudson Hawk
-Contact
-Full Metal Jacket

Perhaps I'm gonna watch Full Metal Jacket with him next week to show him a really tough movie :teeth:

jeannieC: Nope, I don't drink cranberry juice---or any juice---for that matter. For me and my eternal struggle with weight, the caloric content of juice is way too high. Right now I'm in the induction phase of South Beach which is really more like Atkins so all fruit is strictly taboo. I wouldn't be surprised if the diet has played some role in the development of the stones since I'm in a ketonic state right now. I was doing the diet when this happened last year also. And for all of those who have never had the experience, they're not really stones so I couldn't very well make a necklace out of them. Grit is probably a more accurate description. And since I'm not under a doctor's care, I don't bother with those annoying strainers!
Congrats on losing 5 lbs, Michele! It sounds like your program is a alot more successful than mine.

Well I tried to do some work at school today - first they kicked me out of my lab as they wanted to wax the floors and then they kicked me out of the staff room as they wanted to clean it - do you think they were trying to tell me something! Some stuff I can do at home but the tidying can only be done at school!
