Day 4 - Day At Sea

We slept in again and ate breakfast at Triton's around 10am. There was a lot of action at the Kid's Clubs on this day so it seemed like we were continuously dropping off and picking up someone.

Hubby and I had a couple of hours here and there so we played Bingo in the morning...almost won...yeah, we just needed one more number like 25 other people. We also relaxed at the Promenade Lounge and talked about this trip and booked a future trip.

Around 2 pm we picked up the kids to get a seat down in front for the Golden Mickey show. The show started at 2:30 pm and by 2:15 the theater was becoming very crowded. This was my favorite show. Although Tarzan had very little to say...actually I don't think he said anything....IMHO he was the star of the show. Half my age, half-naked and running around with cut abdominal muscles, I kept thinking, "Where was he at the pools?" All joking aside, I did like this show the best. It was fun and lively with great music and a great set.

After Disney dreams, we took the kids to Bingo and we almost won again...yeah, right! Then we got the kids something to eat and went up to change for Palo. We told the oldest child that he needed to be brave and not page us so mom and dad could have a few hours alone. He agreed.

Palo was wonderful. I had the filet mignon which was very tender. I think it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. I loved the atmosphere. I loved the company...my wonderfully funny husband...(hope he reads this because I want a new pair of shoes). And, of course, no children.

The one thing that I thought was odd was that people could walk around that part of the deck while you were eating. I know this may sound funny, but I think they should close that part of the deck off during dinner hours. Having people looking in at you really takes away from the romance of the place.

After strolling the deck, we picked up the kids and caught the end of the Golden Mickey show again. One last look at Mickey Mouse. I was thinking only of the children. Tarzan had nothing to do with my decision to go to the show again. Hubby thought Cruella Deville was fun to look it. He always did go after the bad girls... then he met me!!!!!

We checked out some of the pictures at shutters and then headed for the verandah. We finished packing and Wondered where our cruise had gone.

Couple of Final Comments:

1. WE never ate lunch on the cruise or at Blue Lagoon or Castaway Cay. I think it was because we always had a late breakfast. We would order a cheese plate and munch on that before dinner. How anyone can eat at Palo and their scheduled dinner restaurant is amazing to me. When we arrived home, I told hubby that I do not want to eat for the month!

2. Instead of the pictures of the boat or life preserver in the background, wouldn't it be great if there was a photographer on Deck 10 taking pictures of the actual ship and water?

3. If I did not have two loud but adorable children, I would not take a Disney cruise. I think it is a great cruise for families. We rebooked for October 2004.

4. Excursion, Excursion, Excursion. I believe these will be the highlight of all our trips.

5. We always tipped more than the desired amount...even when getting drinks. I kept telling hubby, "These people have a very rough life, give them more!" Fourteen-hour days, long walks on CAstaway Cay with Konk Koolers, cleaning staterooms over and over again. The service was great. I felt sorry for every crew member away from their family. I made hubby tip everyone. I guess I was an emotional tipper.

FAVORITES:

DH - Hugging a dolphin
DW - Blue Lagoon
DS1 - Fruit Loops and Chicken Strips.
DS2- The ship's model at Port.

Which means I am gonna get a week's worth of fruit loops and chicken strips and leave the children at the port next year.

Compared things at Disneyland to those I saw at the Magic Kingdom:

1. A Lot less Plastic surgery at the Magic Kingdom - Thank you
2. More smoking parents at the Magic Kingdom
3. A Lot more bugs and bug zappers at the Magic Kingdom
4. A lot more ethnic diversity at the Magic Kingdom - not everyone is blonde and beautiful - Thank you.

We were at the Magic Kingdom for the MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party). If you get the chance to go, do so. No ride took more than 10 minutes to get on. It was a great time!

Takemeaway, I totally agree about closing off the section outside of Palo's windows. A little old lady was standing there while we ate and I just knew at any minute, she was going to scratch her you- know-what:eek: I didn't walk out there myself, so I'm not sure if people are aware of what's on the other side

Thank you so much for doing this trip report. In January we are doing the Wonder with our 2 boys that are about the same age as yours. I was thrilled to hear that you enjoyed Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter because that is one thing that we all really wanted to do, but I was a little nervous about our kiddos. Thanks for the reassurance.

So....did your dh read your trip report and get you those new shoes? I think you deserve them!

Thanks again!

Kricket:

With all the spending I did on our vacation, hubby said,
"No new shoes for at least 6 months".

Feel free to tell him again how much you think I deserve new shoes. I will pay you later!
;)

Hi Rose! I'm sorry we didn't get to meet on the cruise. By the sound of your trip report, it sounds like we were in the same places at the same times...a lot!

Kamy said we sat in chairs next to each other at the sailaway party, but you weren't there when we were, and vice versa.

We were at the 2:00 Golden Mickeys show, front row center (were your kids two of the Seven Dwarfs?)

We went to the far end of the beach at Castaway Cay also - much less crowded than the end that's closest to the ship.

Did you go to any movies? We went to the 8:30 Wednesday night showing of Pirates of the Carribbean and the Monday Spy Kids 3D.

We went to the beginning (aka "kids") of the Tropical Deck Party, family karaoke, family dueling pianos.

We were at MNSSHP also. (Austin Powers, a cow, McDonald's French Fries, and a baby).

I'll bet if we see photos of each other, we'll recognize each other!

Lynne

Great trip report!!!

I know what you mean about lack of "Tarzan" like bodies onboard, male or female....I dont mean to be critical in any way, but on our recent cruise, I observed so many morbidly obese (at least 350-400lb+) folks onboard....I guess when you sail on a cruise, it is a microcosm of America....

Yummiest items on our recent cruise:

1. creme brulee cheesecake.

2.Grand Marnier souffle with chocolate sauce.

3 Tarzan.

(Not necessarily in that order.)::yes::

Redmic:

How about creme brulee cheesecake and grand marnier souffle on top of Tarzan? Now, there is a dessert!

<font color=navy>Great report! Thanks for your thoughts on everything you did. :)

Mine will be 16 & 15 when we go (hopefully) next year, and I'll still want some time on the verandah.

I enjoyed your writing and your honesty and humor. We are going on our first DCL 11/9.

I laughed about your Day One comment of a lousy breakfast at the Radisson - one of my favorite lines in the movie Fargo is: "and it's a Radisson, so ya know it's good"!
