I think that Kathy and I will have to drop out of the Jetty Park cookout. We both have had bouts of cellulitis caused by mosquito bites this summer and do not want to have any problems on the cruise with that.

Hi Tuli !!! Mike

Tulirose -- I saw a post on the Cdn board about getting together with Snowwark! Please say hi! I hope that your trip to WDW is truly magical. The ribbon is for Emmasgrammy's granddaughter, Sophie who was hurt in a fire that unfortunately killed Emmagrammy's daughter and other granddaughter Emma. It's a truly awful story.

Can't believe that you are leaving on Saturday Eric & Anja!! We will be thinking of you and hope that you have a great flight.

Still at work but will be leaving soon -- have tons to do before we leave on the 29th. Am missing the annual golf tournament tomorrow. Believe me I'm crushed at this one but one has to sacrifice for work at times. :p

As to Jim's reference to my sleeping on the way down this is the only way to not panic at his driving. :p Just kidding there as it's acutally him who is terrified at my driving hence he drives and I sleep.

Have a great day everyone!

Fiona

I got home from work tonight and no note on the door from FedEx or UPS regarding delivering a package. I was bummed. Then about 1/2 hour later I spotted the UPS truck coming down our street. Then he stopped!!! I ran outside and said I hope it's from Florida. Sure enough!!! I got my documents!!!!:jumping1:

Not long now!

Eric, do we Get one.....

Peter, I always enjoy reading your posts. Sometimes it can be a challange. But this time you have me stumped.

What are you talking about?  :jester:

Mike, Sorry that you will not be coming to the Park. But I know how much you and the biting bugs hate each other. I sent an e-mail to the folk that have the website at the Park. Asking about conditions and such. No response yet.

Later, Avé

Peter and Jenn .... Just a ?, Two fur kids and only one bed? Or do they realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly like each other that much!

Did you guys see that Cape Canaveral (NASA) took a good hit and they even had a lot of damage to the Vehicle Assembly Bldg ---- that big building you usually see off in the distance when we are waiting to sail away while in Port Canaveral. May even delay the next shuttle set to launch in March 05.

Well apparently AshLee got a hot flash cause she just gave our bedroom door a shoulder butt to get in to the air conditioning. And they say animals are dumb ... I know a few that could give us skin parents a lesson or two. As I type, I can see her spread out on her Old Navy bed. (When I die, either pamper me in the same manner as my fur kids or cremate me and sprinkle me on CC!)

Hey Mary (aka RellingTwin) ..... :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: X4. This many till we cruise off into the sunset to SOMEWHERE!

Ave...I know this is scary but I will interpret Peter's message for you....he wants one of Eric's cd's and doesn't know if he is on the list already...Last year I needed an interpreter to read Peter's messages and now I can actually understand him....now I am really afraid...I really must be spending too much time at Bette and Kim's!! We love you Peter!!!

Hi Tulirose...we are going to miss you this cruise. Emmygramma lost both her daughter Amanda and her granddaughter Emma to a fire...both died of smoke inhalation. Sophie is the 3 month old granddaughter who is clinging to life. I just had a beautiful and touching note from Linda today and my heart just aches for them. She was going to be on the Panama Canal cruise with us until we had to cancel due to husband's job loss.

It has been a crazy few weeks around here...DH lost his job that he loved after 33 years....then he had to have a stress test and CT scan of his lungs because he was complainng of shortness of breath (all is well though..I attributed it to stress) and then the company declared bankruptcy which was the worst possible scenerio for all of the workers...no severence pay (due to Sam's longevity, he would have gotten around $22,000), no vacation pay for the 8 months that he worked this year and there is a very good possibility that his pension may be affected. The company hasn't funded it and the pension fund is a party to the bankruptcy claims court along with about 1000 other vendors. Never a dull moment and it has been hard to keep upbeat but I am sure trying since it is a situation that we have no control over. When I think about the troubles that EmmaGramma's family is having, my troubles are nothing. Can't wait to see everyone and in case you couldn't tell, we really need this cruise.

Back to school tomorrow for Sarah!!

Mary Jo,

I didn't know that you cancelled your Repo cruise. I'm sorry to hear that since I was really looking forward to cruising with you again (after our October cruise).

Reneé

Kim: Count me in on the scrabble, haven't played since I was in grade school, I think I still have my spinning board (I got it when they first came out).

Viking: Here's pixie dust to you and Anja on your hop over the pond. Travel safely and looking forward to meeting you soon.

I'm really scared now, I've never had a problem understanding Peter's posts, although occasionally, I'll have to read them twice. Seems I really fit in with you guys.

Here's wishing everyone blue skys and calm seas for wherever we may be!!

MaryJo: You guys have certainly earned this vacation. It was back to school today for Ciara and Adaria as well. YEAH!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That's all of us doing the happy dance.

Renee...I haven't been on the boards alot lately since it has been a rough 6 weeks...I actually just cancelled as of today...we were hoping that DH would get a nice severence package and I honestly couldn't justify taking money out of our savings to pay for this when I honestly don't know what the future holds. Sam has to go back to school to collect the extra 104 weeks of unemployment (he can collect this under NAFTA) and he is looking forward to this (go back to school...yuck would be my answer!) but between the news of the job loss and his heatlh scare, the stress was beginning to get to me and I am really trying to stay upbeat so DH doesn't get depressed but some days it is hard! It wasn't just the cost of the cruise ($6000) but I wanted to spend a few days at DL plus the airfare, car rental, transfers, tickets, etc and I don't want to go to DL and have to worry about spending money so I decided that I didn't need the added stress and the Panama Canal will be there when everything gets straightened out in our lives. Like I said, my problems are nothing compared to EmmaGrammy and the Florida residents.

Arlene...glad you had a great vacation. Please tell Andy that I will not walk the plank with him on the Jolly Roger cruise!! I told Sarah she may have to do this and she said "no way"!! I am really looking forward to our day in Antigua with you two and Sharon and the girls!

Mary Jo it was good to talk to you today and have some gravy fries for us on friday. Sarah will be in school so you and the nameless one can have a big bowl of rice pudding and Sarah will not know about it.

Tell Sam to hang in there and better days will come his way.

Ave having the cellulitius is no fun, especially having to get the shots of antibiotics in the buttocks.

Two palms was back in operation today and the Radisson emailed me to say that they were operational again.

Eric and Anja have a safe journey. Haben Sie eine sichere Reise und kann der Flug glatt sein und die Landungen mildern meine Freunde. We are all looking forward to seeing you once again. Mike

Peter & Ave',
you'll get CDs, too - even if I have to burn an 11th disk.

Rosemary,
we will arrive at MCO on 9/11, but will head for Crystal River right from the airport - no WDW for us this year. Would have loved to meet you.
We may have to change our plans and spend a night in the Orlando-area instead of going to Crystal River due to Ivan, but would then head to either Savannah or Charleston on 9/12.

Thanks for all the good wishes regarding our flight - We may need them :(

Folks,
the update tonight will be a very quick one as I will have to work on our contingency plans to cope with Ivan.
I already looked up some hotels north of Orlando and in Savannah at the office during lunchbreak, but still have to do the route-planning to get there, which will also take some time.

So please excuse in advance any mistake which will surely find their way onto the list due to the hurried preparation.

I tried to post last night and after 2 tries (and getting bumped off both times) I gave up.

Rosemary, have a great time at WDW:teeth:

Mike and Kathy, we will miss you at the park (wondering if there still IS a park??!!) but very understandable. The mosquitoes are SO BAD here from all the rainy weather in S.C.

twhipple...Congrats on your docs! Nice to know DCL is still able to get them on their way. I was worried with no power, docs would be delayed.

May Jo...sorry you had to cancel your repo cruise:( but I'm sure it will be offered again. So glad Sam is OK.

Peter....I ALWAYS understand your posts:teeth:

To our North Carolina friends....Hang in there...clear skys are on the way.

24 days to go!

Maryjo:

So sorry to hear that Sam wasnt feeling well but glad to see that everything is allright. If Andy starts acting up he wont have to walk the plank...I'll push him off it...

Cant wait to see everyone and cant believe that the time is drawing so close. I will feel so much better when I have my documents and that the hotel I have booked is operational...

Arlene

Yup Mary,
but what's coming behind those clear skies is scary again:scared1:

I'll contact our dive-center tonight to inquire about us being able to dive on Sunday and Monday, but IMHO it doesn't look very promising. I don't intend to go to Crystal River when we can't dive. The town is so boring, that I don't intend to be stuck there in bad weather. We would then prefer to go to Savannah before going to Charleston, as there are plenty of indoor and outdoor sights to explore. We'll see, there is still the change that Ivan may stay in Cuba: Ivan is a Russian name and he may like it there :jester:

Ciadriamom -- Sent you a pm.

Woke up at 6 am this morning to tornado warnings, but nothing in Charlotte so far today. There were at least 22 tornados in SC & NC yesterday. I think the number was actually much higher -- that might be the number for just one state. More in SC than NC.
Lots of flooding, especially in the mountains.

Still haven't heard from my BIL & SIL who live year-round in Vero Beach. No one has heard from them since last Thursday, but we are assuming they are OK. The other BIL & SIL (who have a vacation home in Vero) got on to the island and it appears that both houses have had little or no structural damage. Screening around the pools is down and most trees are down. The missing BIL has a large wooded lot, and the other one said they would probably have to get a bulldozer or at least a bobcat to clear the land. All power lines are down and it is supposed to take at least 2 weeks before power is restored. Water has to be boiled. I'm amazed that the Disney resort is re-opening on Friday altho I guess I shouldn't be amazed since it's Disney after all! They probably have their own power plant, etc.

Geez I go watch Big Brother and my other shows and you guys posted a lot. Just got caught up ...

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT......
Anyone that is ailing - Heal! Anyone that is traveling - Stay Safe! EVERYONE ELSE - GET PACKING!

Good times are coming, we need to take time to smell the "DCL MAGIC" considering all the awful things going on around us. (Emma's GrandMa's tragedy, Florida & Carolina storms, Bankrupcy, LayOff's, etc, etc, etc)

Guess I better get back to work ..................

JeanneC & JeanneG,
you'd better hope that there's not another hurricane coming as the next one's name will be: JEANNE :teeth:
If that one is going to interfere with our cruise, you may be held responsible:jester:
