Anja & I will fly to the North this weekend to celebrate her Granny's 95th birthday :earseek:
As we have nearly used up all our vacation days we decided to fly up there Saturday morning and return Sunday evening. As the tickets to Anja's hometown Kiel would have been €360 for the two of us, we decided to fly to Hamburg for a special offer of only €180 and take a rental car for the remaining 60 miles.
I made a reservation for a Smart Convertible. I hope we get one, because they may also give us another car. For those of you who don't know what a Smart is:
It's a reallllllllllllllllly tiny car, with an overall length of just 8 feet 2 inches, a .7litre turbocharged 3-cylinder pumping out 61 hp. It does about 40 - 50 mpg, has two seats only and is limited to about 85mph. I haven't driven one so far and always wanted to give it a try.
Driving 380 miles up there -and back again- this weekend would have been suicide :p as summer vacation starts in our state and several others tomorrow. This means that all the major Autobahnen will be turned into very long parking lots
BTW, in January we'll have to do the same again as Anja's other Granny will be 95 then, too. She still lives independently in an appartment in downtown Kiel.

Love that idea Mary Jo. It would be great to see how Emily has grown and see the new little one.

Heat??? They have heat in Florida? Can they send some northwards? Please!

Fiona

Not northwards!!! Eastwards!!!

Gosh, Would love to see Amy, Chris and the kids. I hope they can make it.
Eric and Anja, Have a safe trip up north.
Eric and Fiona....Sending FL :sunny: and heat your way. We've got lots of it down here.
An 18 year old patient came into the office today, she was just back from her 1st ever 3-day Disney Cruise. The first thing she said was.."I'm so tired" LOL The next thing she said was "I think we are going to have to do the 7-day next time, there's just not enough time to do everything in 3 days." :teeth: I invited her on the 10/2 trip but she will have to save a bit longer before going again.

Bye Everyone,

Later, Avé

RellingTwin- I got the email with your kids' info on it. Thank you for sending your info.

Just sent out the first edition of the kids cruzlist. There are only 10 people on there but it is better then nothing.
Viking- I sent you a copy with everyone else.

Eric, I understand now. We must pay the price for convenience, it sounds well worth every penny!!![

Travel safely this weekend, best wishes to Anja's gram, give her a hug from me and my gram!!

Goofynut, thanks for the pixie dust!

Love that Magic Eraser, had to put it to the test several times as Adaria facies herself quite the artist and like all true artists, sees any available white space as her canvas.

I am so looking forward to meeting you all, I just want to say again, how much I appreciate your warmth and friendship.

I'm officially PIF status too! Can I start packing? Not just the box of stuff that we can't forget, actually putting it in suitcases? :hyper:

dsncruise lover...got the kids list! The kids LOVE it and are getting excited to meet their new friends. Thanks for doing this!

I also love that Magic Eraser! It's nice when a product really works! I love the "Dawn Power Scrub" too!

Eric, have a safe trip. Hi (and Happy Birthday)to Anja's Granny!

Mary Jo...Great Idea!
I would also love to see Amy, Chris and the kids!

Kim..I can relate to your move. We moved our clinic in November. 10 exam/treatment rooms, a lab, 5 offices plus the reception area. We were only closed for patient for 1 and 1/2 days (plus a Sat.)But we are all settled in now and loving our new and improved clinic.

Ave, why isn't Case's info on the kids list? Only 1 week to go until we are on our way to see you and the family. Can't wait!

TGIF! Regina's birthday is next week, so she is having a birthday party this weekend (A Slumber Party). But before the "Slumber" part I'm taking the kids to the beach where I hope they will get worn out!LOL!

Time to get to work!

Everyone wish us luck! We are headed to Utah tomorrow to do our open water certification so we can enjoy some dives on this trip! I am a bit nervous, the whole equalizing thing and neutral boyancy thing may be a pain, but I figure we'll do OK. It'll just be WAYYYY different than the 12 ft pool we did our confined dives in! Okay, honestly, I am more nervous about leaving Orion (our dog) home with just the neighbors watching him. What will I do when we have real kids! I'll never leave the house!

Save travels to all this weekend, where ever you may be!

Add us to the PIF list about 2 weeks ago!! :p We have been to the mountains for a few days. While we were gone, 1971Visitor and papa made a reference to the heat and heat index. Well, on the heels of that heat was a storm front that carried what the Weather Channel called Cat.1 Hurricane Force winds. That must be what put one of the neighbors trees in my backyard, and two large limbs from one of my own trees! So its off to sharpen the chainsaw blade.

Eric, Thanks for the dive info, it has been passed on.

Reneé, Thanks for the magnets, they are great.

Allen

Thumbs up for you & hubby, Jill:wave:
I'm sure that you'll make your way to the lower end of the food-chain - That is where our PADI-instructor welcomed us when we passed our test:hyper:

Allen,
could you do me a favour and bring that chainsaw to the ship? It may come in handy at Serenety Bay:teeth:

Renee' -- Just got back from our Hilton Head DVC vacation today and when we picked up the mail, your magnets were there. Thanks so much -- they are great!! Didn't expect them to be so big. Can't wait until we can put them on our stateroom door. Only 77 days. I am going to start getting things together for the cruise as soon as I finish unpacking and not leave things to the last minute as I often do now that we take so many vacations since joined DVC in 1994. Thanks again. It was wonderful of you to do this for us. Another Mickey bar or whatever you can think of as a thank you from Sam and I.

Hilton Head was wonderful as usual. Love that resort and what a great, wide, uncrowded beach!. It was really hot (95 - 99) so we could only spend about 3 hours a day at the beach or pools. Went to see (and participate in "Tony & Tina's Wedding". Has anyone else ever gone to this production? I highly recommend it.

We joined the PIF club on 6/28. We had a deal to get double Disney Reward Dollars up to June 30. So I charged the $2100 balance and will get an additional $42 reward dollars -- should have around $250 before we leave plus our $50 Disney Visa shipboard credit and our $150 AAA credit. Will pay off the charge when we get the bill. What a deal!

Good to be back to the boards. Had to get to my computer as soon as we stopped at the PO and bank upon our return. Now I am caught up with my reading. Time to unpack and do laundry.

Jeanniec....oh no the "L" word!!!

You mean, we weren't supposed to start yet??? :hyper:

I'm an auntie again. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Noah Rhys Grant (yup three names) made his appearance at 7:11pm tonight weighing in at 8lb ?oz (my mother was yelling and I missed the ounces). He'll be called Rhys. Like his older siblings he'll actually be known by his middle name.

Am now waiting for the chocolate bar -- for the first two my DSIL ordered chocolate bars with the wrappers having the baby's name on it. Pink wrappers for my niece and blue for my nephew.

My DM asked who he looked like and my DB said "like a newborn baby". DB has no sense of imagination. :p

DSIL I expect will be home either tomorrow or Sunday and then I'll go visiting although DM will probably go to the hospital tomorrow.

Eric,
If I bring the chainsaw, will I be "choosing sides"? I was looking forward to a neutral ringside lounge chair and umbrella possibly with my camera to document the battle....:3dglasses:
