Alle Gute zum Geburtstag, Nancy

For those of you dreaming of 6 weeks vacation per year and speeds well in the three-digit-range: We're dreaming of affordable gas, right now we're at about 5 Bucks per gallon  I would happily trade a week of vacation for your gas prizes ;) But I wouldn't trade our Autobahn for your speed limits: You would have to prye the steering wheel from my cold, dead fingers :jester: (Sorry about stealing that sentence from you, Mr Heston :teeth: )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NANCY and enjoy the cake today!! Good luck with your diet!!

Ave'...yes, we have rebooked for this cruise. We will probably just fly down on Friday night and then fly home either Saturday or stay till Sunday and fly home that day. Sarah made high honors which was an accomplishment..she is in the honors program which is a little harder but short of her procrastination with projects, she seems to be handling it well.

Freezing cold here today...we are supposed to go into the single digits tonight...a far cry from the 50's we had last week. Now that I've whined about the weather...when the heck is spring???

Things are really bad at Sam's plant--they laid off another 100 people right before New Year's--last year the plant had 1496 employees and the same time this year, they are down to under 750. Sam is about 75th in seniority so he is ok for now but there is talk of shutting down the plant in spring.

::yes:: HAPPY ::yes:: BIRTHDAY ::yes:: Nancy! Remember, you are only as old as you think you are ... THINK YOUNG!

Sorry I've been a little mia of late but too pooped out after work to do much except supper and collapse in my recliner. Have some more tests to go for and still awaiting the results of the echo and stress.

Hope everyone had a nice new years.

Definition of ignoranus ... someone who is both stupid and a tail!

Happy Birthday, Nancy!
Congrats on finding the cat, Ave!

I would like to tie the dinner seatings together some time this month and so I need to hear from the N's, the A's and the SM's (sounds kinda kinky.....!) with reservation numbers. It would also be a big help if you could all let me know the last name the booking is under (you can pm me or use my personal email). I did some coordinating for a group of us on the last cruise I took and didn't realize until I made the call that the cast member would not be very receptive to screen names! If anyone else is joining us, please let me know soon.

So what time is the party at the Radisson? I took a look at the October flight schedules and it seems we probably won't be getting into Orlando until about 8pm which means we'll undoubtedly miss all the action. I was looking over Eric's list and it appears that bettemom and I are the only ones that plan to stay at the Hyatt MCO. I guess I need to pm her and discuss options.

This is my busy, busy time at work.......setting up payroll for the new year and closing out the old one. Lots of adjustments and reconciliations for tax purposes......and then when all that is done I have to go prepare the personal stuff for tax filing. Yuck! Is there income tax in deutschland, Eric? And if so, is is a straight percentage or do you have to deal with the reams and reams of tax law that we have here?

Hi Everyone, This is Kim here...

I always thought that with a new year things were to get better, right now things are not too great...

1) The contractor renovating our house has been MIA for 4+ months, the siding is down and the green waterbarrier is up and that's it ! NO SIDING, it is all in the garage...

2) Little health issue that is sending me to Mass General Hospital to see a specialist there for treatment. ( thanks Ave' for your help)

3) We won our property lawsuit with the " idiot" neighbors but now we can't collect on the money it cost us, since the lawyer will cost more that the money we spent ! ( many thousands)..

4) The owner of my laboratory informed me yesterday that we will most likely be shutting the doors the end of this month... Our customers love us but we are not making enough $$$.

So, if anyone knows of any fun jobs let me know. If anyone would like to join a house siding party for a weekend in late march / early April, come on down/up/over... this will be on the job training for all of us.

More than anything mom & I need the cruise in October, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we can still come.

Time for me to end the pity party, :worried:
Happy B-day Nancy, Peter & jenn have a great vacation, wish I was going too...

Bye, Kim

Kim...pixie dust is on it's way up to you in NH...and lots of it!

My late mom always used to say that God never gives you more than you can handle but sometimes it makes you wonder and want to send a message skyward...ok, we've had enough...give a little to someone else!

Hope everything works out well with the job though..we know the anxiety it can bring but unfortunately, it is out of our and your control so I refuse to get myself sick or upset about it. Hey, we could always look for jobs at Disney (although they don't pay!!) or somewhere else in sunny Florida.

Hope the medical problem is indeed a minor one. Take care..I will keep you in my prayers. Mary Jo

Bette, Kim:
Sorry about all the trouble you've been experiencing lately. Now I feel bad about PMing you about trivial stuff. You've got lots of more important things on your mind right now, so please excuse me. I hope everything works out alright. If your local news station runs a consumer advocate segment, you should report your contractor to them. It's amazing how a little bad publicity can really get a deadbeat motivated. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

KIM , JOIN ME in the ranks of the unemployeed.....
it is not fun .... but u have to laugh............
Since u will not be working maybe we should do a cruise... lol
TAX returns make great cruise funds.... lol
Siding party cool i love partys.....

luck to you all to the North

Did i say this already i leave for Florida in the Am

Things r bad here in Mass. filed for unemployment Week after Thanks Giving and Still have not recieved check yet...????

THANK GOD for the Bread Winner in the family Jen ......
im actually thinking of going to a restruant Appling for a cooks position.. nice to have another trade to fall back on....

Construction is so up and down how can u Survey when u cant see the ground....lol

Happy Birthday Nancy!!!!
Kim, Sorry about your troubles. Hang in there!
Maryjo, DD is thrilled to hear that Sarah will be going on the next cruise. And I'm happy to have my movie buddy back. I'll bring the popcorn. :teeth:
Cathy, Hope the tests come out OK. Pixie Dust heading your way.
jeanneg, the Raddison get together is very informal and subject to change depending on the weather and the nightly mosquito population. Right Mike?
Still lots of time to plan for it. And stock up on OFF! :jester:
Pete and Jenn, Weather in NW Fl was cold today 30-50 degrees. But still better than single digits. Where long pants, with sweatshirts and you'll be fine. Have fun. Those girls will keep you running.
Work to do. UGH!
Later, Ave'

Hi Mary:wave2:

Happy Birthday Nancy!!!

Sorry to hear everyones woes. DH has been very slow getting jobs also. Lots of people want him to start jobs, BUT not right now! One good customer of him wants his whole house (inside and out) painted...but wants to wait until next month! NEXT MONTH???? He needs the job NOW!!! Don't these people know we have bills to pay???

Oh well....to quote my favorite singer (Keb Mo) "You'll get yours...when I get mine!" The creditors will just have to wait :p

Hi Mary, This is Kim here...

I have given this a lot of thought, here is an idea, if DH does not have any painting jobs lines up then if you would like some girl time, ship him up here, ( granted it is darn cold, it will be - 40 tonight with winds) he can advise us on how to strip the paint off of the woodwork in the old house ( 1762). We have a ski mountain in the backyard and hunting, fishing and all those " guy" things. Of course, we can feed him very well but alas...I have no money either... Oh well it was a thought...

Have a nice day,

Kim

Thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes. We weren't able to go out to dinner last night as DS#2 worked, so the diet is postponed for another day. So dinner tonight and the diet starts on Friday.
DS#1 leaves to go back to college on Friday and then DS#2 leaves on Sunday. So will have peace and quiet at the house until winter break time.

So sorry to hear about everyone's job problems. I think Bette has a great idea, but should have Peter come also since he is in construction. Between Relling Twin's DH and Peter they could have the house in tip top shape. Plus then I could have them come to my house and start on my list of things that need done.

jeanneg--- Will dig out my confirmation numbers and email you the information.

Get Well wishes to Kim and Cathy. Hope all your test turn out ok.

Mike--- How did Kathy make out with all her tests for her heart problems she was having? I don't remember reading an update, but I might have missed it.

MaryJo--- You must be very proud of Sarah.

We won't fly down until late on Friday night, so will miss the Raddison pre cruise activites again. Not sure if we are going to stay there again. May just do the Hyatt (for the right price) and then drive over on Sat morning. Last year, our flight was delayed and never got to the Raddison until nearly 1am. Have plenty of time to decide. This is like having a baby, we have 9 months to plan but will end up at the last minute doing things I put off until it is time to deliver. In this case leave for the cruise.

I really must get started with work. Another busy day.

Nancy

After Peter and George leave New Hampshire, they can stop at my house to do some repairs (insulation in attic which my contractor was going to do last spring and it still isn't done, etc.) before they head to Nancy's house in York since I am 2 hours north of her--we also have a ski area (Montage) about 1/2 mile from house, hunting, ice skating, etc. so we could really make this a vacation for the guys!!

Freezing here today--wind is blowing and it is really cold!! Mary Jo

In the spring when Sam gets laid off,he can come stip our wood floors............................................................then.............................................................:hyper:

We're staying at the Radisson this time so we'll be able to go the pre-cruise activities :Pinkbounc . We should land around 12:30 pm. I figured we might hit the outlets or something and then head to the Radisson. We should be there early enough to hit the pool :teeth:

Now I only have to decide what "goodies" to bring this time.

Bette...the possibilities are endless!! Anyone else care to join the caravan???

Then when no one has a job and none of us can afford to cruise, I can get a villa at the Williamsburg timeshare and we can all go on vacation!!!

Who says cruise people arn't inventive?:hyper:

A sence of humor is the best medicine for any thing !!:sunny:

:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: What's going on with "the gang"?

Kim ... Bummer. Try not to get down, you are a smart cookie and would be a great catch for an employer.

Pete ... I can actually see you as a cook (hehe). You have that "Emeril" attitude. Have fun on your vacation and stay safe.

AND don't you just love it when they want you for a really big job but don't want it done now. I usually have the problem that I can't seem to find someone who is willing to work now!

Health Issues ... let's just not go there right now ... Hope everyone is keeping their head up and THINKING CRUISE, SOAK THOSE BONES IN THE SUN @ CASTAWAY or DECK 4!

My DSIL is cruising in March out of Cape Canaveral and she told me they are building a new hotel ... I've asked her to check it out for us. It has multi room suites, spa's and a lazy river tube float in their pool area. ( I'm trying to figure out a way to hide in her car and Just have to go cruising with her then - hehehe. )

Have a nice day and THINK CRUISE!
