Eric,

We have never seen a case that has a lever to push the cd out.

Anyway, loved the pictures. It was kind of scary though. I was looking at several and thought, I would have taken that from the same angle - but I don't know anyone else that would have.

Peter,

Dh and I also love that GE line of appliances. Did the last 2 kitchens in Profile black. Convection oven and all.
At the new house we are going to mix it up a bit. The builder uses Fridgadaire and ......(drawing a blank). So we decided to upgrade a few and go our own way on the rest. Going to get the drop-in dual fuel ge range again but fisher-paykel drawer dishwasher. Also have to buy a new washer and dryer so it's the Whirlpool Duet this time instead of the Maytag Neptune. It's so much fun to pick out new things.

Now if I could just get a firm date for completion!

Nancy

Congrats on 500 Mary!

Glad you had fun at the zoo. It was raining a little too much for us to venture out that way. Instead we did DC on Saturday. Too much walking though. Went from Union Station along Penn Ave to the White House then off to 19th and I for dinner. What a long walk and they didn't even have the White House decorated on the outside yet.

I'm trying to get a group together for reservations to see in the White House. They finally opened tours to the public again but it's a minimum of 10 people and you have to go thruu your rep. After so mucch bother I hope it will be worth it. I'm sure you got to see lots of different things that the rest of us wouldn't

Nancy

Wow, no one is awake tonight.

I guess that means I should head off to bed too. To dream about being on another cruise right now - instead of having to get up for work.

Goodnight Mrs Calabash wherever you are. (Something my dad used to say when we would head off to bed)

Now I got it :p Those are very common over here. I especially like them in the car, because you can handle them with one hand.

Glad you liked the pics. I like to experiment with cam a lot, digital makes it very inexpensive.

Nancy, the White House tour was wonderful, BUT it is the same tour for everyone. The difference for us was having my sister along. She has been on the tour MANY times and knew what questions to ask of the Secret Service staff who stand in each room. Also there are far less people on the "Staff Tour" which made it nice.

"Goodnight Mrs Calabash wherever you are" was coined by Jimmy Durante (I think??). I do not every remember him saying it, but I think it was a Trivia Pursuit question.

You're right Mary.....Jimmy Durante ended every show with "Good-night Mrs.Calabash, where ever you are" as he walked off stage....and....I DO remember it...LOL:hyper:

OH !!! By the way......:( ......it's SNOWING !!!!!!

Mary and Ave' -- Happy to hear that you will be spending Christmas together! Sounds like it was a surprise to Ave'.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

We are having a cold spell here in NC, and I hate it. In the 20's at night and highs in only the 50's or even lower. Ugh! That's why we left Chicago many years ago. Don't know how we ever lived thru the cold and WIND in Chicago for so many years. I remember coming out of work at the hospital one night when the wind chill factor was -80 degrees. Not one car in the parking lot would start. Finally got a ride home from another nurse's husband who had his car hooked up to a battery warmer in their garage.

We have a family wedding in Blowing Rock (in the mountains) on Saturday. We plan to leave on Friday to spend the night in Blowing Rock , attend the wedding on Saturday and then back home on Sunday after the lunch buffet. Now they are forecasting possible ice storm and/or snow for Friday which will goof everything up. So we may be spending the weekend at home instead. Did I mention that I hate cold weather? Sure wish we were on our cruise right now!

Jeannie: The temperature is pretty much the same here in Raleigh, but it's bright and sunny and therefore, doesn't seem too bad. When I saw your post, I quickly checked our forecast for Friday and they are only predicting rain. You're at a higher elevation so you may have more chance of some flurries. I just don't want a repeat of that horrible ice storm we had around this time last December. After 2 nights without heat or power, we took off for PA. Of course, the day after we left, everything came back on! And we were the lucky ones - some people had to go a week or even more without power.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday.......Christmas season is way too short this year. So much to do............arrrgghhhhh!

P.S. Something else we have in common, Jeannie: I'm also an accountant!

Jeanneg -- Isn't it great when everything balances?

Did you have only one ice storm last year? We had at least 2, and as you said, it is no fun being in the cold without heat or light. They really need to start burying the power lines around here. The whole city is paralyzed when a little ice builds up on the lines.

To my NORTH CAROLINA friends....the family and I are looking at spending a week in NC sometime this summer. I have been doing some searching but need some advice. We want 1) a cabin or house right on a lake where kids can fish and we can put in our canoes. 2) we would like to be close-by to area attractions(read shopping area :hyper: ) 3) we would like to keep it in the apx. $700 price range.
I have check out a number of State Parks but everything is already booked for 2004 :(
Anyone know of anyone who rents out such a place?Or have you been to anything like I've discribed you would recommend?

I know what you mean about ICE! Because Charleston is so dependent on the many bridges we have here, when the temps go down and the bridges ice up it shuts down everything!WAY different from my years growing up in NY where there had to be 6 inches of snow on the road to close the schools!

Have just been lurking the past couple of days. Sunday we started to put up the outside lights and just as we are finishing, DS#2 called that he was having car problems on his way back to school. So we had to drive half way to Pittsburgh, give him my van and had his car towed back to York. So have been with only 1 car all week.

So far have outside lights and Dickens Village out for the holiday. Wednesday we leave for WDW so the rest of the decorating will have to wait until we return. We fly out Wednesday night, before the bad weather gets to Central PA. Thursday is to have light snow. Plus just checked the weather and it is to get colder later this week in FL though it won't be like Central PA.

I have been getting prices for our May family cruise. We wanted to do Mariner of the Sea out of Port Canaveral, but that ship is nearly booked up already. There are no inside cabins left as we planned to put the boys in there own inside cabin and Norm and I get ocean view. Most of the rooms that hold 4 have sofa beds and I don't want to hear those two fighting every night about sleeping togethers. Especially when they don't come in until 3am. So it looks like we are going to do Navigator of the Sea out of Miami. They have alot of rooms left on that ship. Then we will just rent a car and drive to WDW after the cruise. Plus the dates will work out better on the Navigator. So I hope to call tomorrow and make the reservations for that cruise before we leave for FL.

Well, I guess I should start to pack. I just got the suitcases down from the attic. I'm off tomorrow so I can always pack in the morning. Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

Nancy::MinnieMo

Nancy -- Wow, do I envy you! Off to WDW soon, planning a May cruise and then the cruise in October. We have to wait until May to go to WDW with our grandson who will be almost 5. That will be so much fun. Last time he went with us, he was just 3, so this time he should enjoy the experience a lot more altho he does remember lots about the last trip. Then we do HH in July and the cruise in October.

Mary -- We usually do the beach or WDW or a cruise and I can't think of the type of place you are looking for. I will check around and see what I can find out about a cabin/lake/shopping location. When we lived in Illinois, we vacationed at Fontana Village located in the mountains in NC. We would meet our Florida relatives there, and the kids had a great time with their cousins. We stayed in a cabin (first time in my life). This is a fairly big resort, but very casual. I know the boys fished in a lake somewhere in the resort. It was a great place. Back then (which is a while ago), they had softball games every night and my DH and BIL and the boys never missed a game. You might try checking the Net and see what is going on at Fontana now. I'm not sure it is even there anymore. Will let you know if I find any place that seems to meet your needs.

jeannie: yep, we had only one ice storm last year (early Dec) but it was a doozie.....something like 90% of Raleigh was without power and the schools were closed for days.
I know what you mean about having everything add up....I actually ENJOY balancing the checkbooks!

Mary: you mean there are really attractions in NC?!? What part of NY are you from? I spent the first 30 years of my life in Manhattan and DH was a Bronx boy before we were married.

Nancy, Have a great trip! It's getting a little chilly in my part of FL, but Orlando should be great.
jeanniec and jeanneg: I am having the hardest time keeping you guys straight. LOL:p Am I the only one?
My boss is taking off for NYC this weekend. She got first row tickets to see The Producers at the 2 pm matinee on Sat. (She went to med school with a lady who is married to a guy, who's step-dad is a real "producer". He produced "Annie".) Anyway, she is excited about it. I try to pull off my "grew up in NY, Broadway...yawn.....but I can't quite manage it.:hyper:

Bed is calling.....night all!

Later,
Ave'

jeanneg...YES! There are sights to be seen in NC!:earseek: My In Laws just got back from the Biltmore Estate, and had a wonderful time.I grew up on Long Island (Hicksville) and still have 2 brothers and 1 sister in NY (brothers on L.I. sister in Manhattan).

Ave, no you are NOT the only one! I too am having a hard time with the Jeann(s)::yes:: Tell Myra, I said have fun, and dress WARM!
DS is back from his school trip. His class spent 3 days at the barrier islands studying wildlife, ecology, biology, ect.
DD took a "seat test" in her orchastra class, and was put in 1st chair!

I'm going to be an aunt once again -- due date for SIL is July 22 -- my brother's birthday! So it's going to be a long wait although we will know whether it's a boy or girl long before then.

Time for the shower door bang.

Take care everyone.

Fiona

OK, it figures that twins would have similar disabilities! No need for any confusion.....I'm the cute one! Only kidding....
Anyway, in a nutshell so you don't have to go to the main list:
I'm Jeanne married to John planning to have dinner with the 2 other initial couples: Nancy & Norm and Arlene & Andy, native New Yawker living in Raleigh, 4 kids in college and beyond. Just remember the "c" in jeanniec can stand for Charlotte! Any questions?
