1 Year to SAVE!!!

I have started savings for our next trip as well. I think we are going to go March of 2013 (wish it was sooner but don't want to go over the summer and don't want to have to take the kids out of school for the tip :().

I have been taking thing to the consignment store (outgrown baby stuff I am finally parting with) and putting that in the Disney account.

All rebates go in there.

DH offered to buy me an iPad when he got his but I chose to have the money put towards Disney instead so he agreed to put it in my Disney account.

Spare change is being collected.

I am going to try and sneak a Disney gift card in each time I grocery shop.

ebay and Craiglist selling money also goes in there.

I set up my direct deposit to put $20 a pay in there as well. Wanted to do more but I pay health insurance out of my pay and as of January our insurance goes up $20 per pay :(

My ebates money will also be going in there.

I've been sick, so I have nothing to report. I leave this week for my trip and hopefully will be better. Worse case, I will be sick in Florida and not in Virginia, where it is snowing right now! :thumbsup2

I did get 2 refund checks in the mail this week, so there will be $20 more going into the Disney fund. Once I return, I will be really focusing on the saving part again.

Congrats to everyone who is saving!! You are doing a great job!, Keep it up!! :cool1::cool1:

I will check back in when I return. I hope to see pages of good savings reports.:thumbsup2

I like the consignment idea...oldest dd has lots of brand name clothes...maybe I'll look into that? Plus she leaves for college in August...so who knows what I'll sell of hers to go to Disney!:rotfl:

I did ok with youngest dd's birthday. Bought pizzas from Sam's club, pop & snacks from Aldi, cake from DQ, balloons, total spent on her bday was right around $150 & that includes the zebra plates/napkins she HAD to have.

I still have to do my regular grocery shopping tomorrow, & was hoping there'd be some snacks left over...nope those 12 year old girls were HUNGRY!

Wow, this thread was buried! Everyone following my lead and not saving this week? Last week was a blown tire, this week issues with the HVAC. Fun. Hoping next week will go better on the saving. I did earn a couple of bucks on QuickRewards though. Will update totals if I ever get some real cash added to the tally. :thumbsup2

I have been saving....sort of. I have a goal of making $100 by February using Quickrewards. I am one fourth of the way there!!! :cool1: I officially have earned a balance of $25.84!

just keep saving, just keep saving...
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Trying to save, just failing this week - I somehow managed to get the stomach flu - & instead of feeding my family, I've sent them all out to dinner for 2 nights now - totally blew the budget this week.

It is all surveys! I have been doing it for a little over a month. I get many rejections, but I forge on attempting ALL of them.

I had to tap into my Disney savings to pay closing costs on our mortgage refinance. It's okay because I basically "borrowed it" and will repay it within a couple months from the lower payment, but I didn't want to touch our regular savings to pay it. It was a big hit though :(

So, I'm starting from scratch. I'm hoping to pay for our trip totally with extra savings and DH's summer overtime and not touch our regular budget or savings. We have 11 months to save, so I have no doubt we can do it!

Change box - $77 plus whatever anyone threw in and didn't tell me
online savings acct - $50
Refund for return of kitchen flooring supplies minus restock fee - $26.26
Refund of paying off my van when we had to buy the new car - $15.86
Grocery coupons and below budget from 10/21 - $17.14
Grocery coupons/below budget from 10/28 - $8.14

Total as of today $194.40

We also have a $10 Burger King giftcard for the trip down, enough MyPoints for another $10 giftcard, Speedway points for a $25 giftcard AND Marriot points for a travel night hotel for free!

Ok so you guys are getting me motivated :goodvibes

I used MyPoints for gas cards to use on our Disneyland trip last week so whatever I save now will be for a WDW trip in Sept. So far I have enough for a $50 to Rainforest Cafe.

From just clicking on emails and doing searches and a couple of offers I have $30 in Inbox Dollars. Swagbucks is going slow but I have $15 gc to Amazon.

The big one will be Ebay, Nov is my biggest month of the year. I just have to get everything ready to start listing holiday stuff on Sunday :surfweb:

Plus my seasonal job starts Thanksgiving week and all my tips go to the Disney piggy  I paid for our DLR trip with last year's tips so I am hoping this year will be as good (or better!)

Hey - just wanted to say hi! We'll be at Disney at the same time, and wanted to wish you luck on reaching your goal!

Great job! - I did ok today, budget is $100 too...but I was out of a lot ! - so I spent $97, but I had $14 in coupons...& I had a little left in my wallet from the week...so put a $20 in the savings jar!!!!

What a great thread! I just decided to go to Disney next year for Thanksgiving! So, I have a year to save...but not sure how long this thread has been going. I may be behind and the thread end before I go! :rotfl: I really like the idea some of you have to make a grocery budget for the week, and if it comes in under you add that to your Disney fund!! Great idea, and helps to elminate impulse buys at the store if you are trying to come in under budget for this! I'd like to join if I could!

Great gocery week here too!

I had $300 budgeted, but only spent $263 and I had $12 in coupons.

I have some change rolling around in the bottom of my purse that I need to dig out and throw in the change box too.

I haven't been posting much either, and I should have. We went to Disney twice last week (Mickey's Not So Scary and went back to spend the weekend at Fort Wilderness for Halloween), plus there was a trip to Sea World in there. We were spending like crazy, lol.

And then I quit my job ... yikes! It was getting to be too much with school and everything, so I asked my boyfriend if it was something he would be ok with. I was trying to not work much as it was, but the hassle of having to go in, and my boss was scheduling me for shifts that I wasn't available for. We have money in savings, and my school money, so we're "good" in the financial department, but now I'm going to have to get really creative in savings.

However, you ladies are inspiring! I feel like I have been slacking.

I'm definitely in with the keping track. I to am going in Nov 2012 for my daughter's 15th birthday. I've got a "Disney tin" that I put all change in, except toonies and loonies. My DH won't let me. I've requested a prepaid mastercard from Bank of Montreal that I can load money onto and that will be my savings account. My husband and I have an actual savings account however I am a bookaholic and am always buying books, this does end up costing me way to many monthly service charges. I coupon as much as possible but in Canada it is really hard to, companies always state only one coupon per transaction on each coupon.

Our trip will cost approximately $3000 for airfare, tickets, hotel, food and souvenirs. I have change in the Disney tin but am unsure how much so I will have to update that amount at a later time.

---------

Total: $3000
Savings: $50
New Balance: $2950

So not good but I did just start the savings so it will build. Good Luck to everyone out there saving for their trip!!!!!!

I was inspired by you. Our next trip will be in June 2012. So I only have seven months, but I'm gonna try my best. Use survey mastermind.com! You will make hundreds and eventually thousands! Try it!
