...the DC area snipers were caught at a reststop near here. It has been unsettling these past 3 weeks with all of the media coverage. I had seen the car & the men driving in a heavy populated area near here the week before. They had been seen driving through the parking lot at my children's elementary school. They were caught on video at the gas station I filled up at last week. There laptop had sites marked that I had considered "safe" because they were "too far" off the snipers' course.

A huge thank you to all the law enforcement officals and private citizens (especially those at the rest stop) who helped in the identification and capture of the snipers.
Thanks to you we can all go about our lives this October, our kids fill the pumpkin patches and soccer fields again, they can play outside at recess, poeple aren't ducking at the gas pumps and zigzagging as they walk through parking lots.

It really makes me appreciate the freedom I once took for granted.

It was a scary time. Thank goodness you stayed safe.

I remember what it felt like to us, being nowhere near it. I can't even imagine what you and your family, and everyone else in your area went though.

We too lived in the fear of the sniper!

Scary part was we were in the Manassas Va area just minutes before the shooting @ the gas station.

My DH (who is NEVER fearful) didn't "feel" right pumping gas & wanted us to get our errands completed & get home.

Little did we know how close we were to the shooting until I was flipping the tv channels.

We are so VERY glad to have a less stressed fall!

I also remember what a scary time that was. DH and i were living in VA Beach at the time, 3 hours away from where it was happening. But because we lived right off the highway and there was no telling what this man would do or where he would go, it was pretty frightening for us. So with our newborn daughter, we mostly stayed indoors. I even kept the blinds shut most of the time (our windows faced a wooded area, so it was kinda creepy). Everyone in the community felt just as scared too.

It's such a helpless feeling when you're practically a prisoner in your own home, afraid of what might happen when you go outside. no one should ever have to live like that. And I too thank the law enforcement officials and everyone who helped catch these "terrorists". Most of all I'm glad that no one has to fear for their lives like that anymore. mom2boys and wuvtigger, i'm glad someone was watching out for you and your families. God bless.
