1 wdw splurge?

MNSSHP and MVMCP, Up Close with Rhinos and cabanas at the waterparks are things we have done.

This year, we are doing MCSSHP in August and I am debating HS After Hours.

For my daughter's 13th birthday trip over NYE in December, I want to do Behind the Seeds and Capture the Moment.

The prices at WDW lately makes me want to avoid splurges at all costs (was that a contradiction?) In fact, I get really offended and go in the opposite direction, seeing how little I could get away with spending and still have a great time.

I've done Club 33 and it was very cool. DW's BFF works for So Cal Gas and SCG has a membership - from there I don't know details how we rated, but glad we did. We've sat in the SCG seats at an Angels game a couple of times and that's very cool too. You are on screen on TV when a righty bats. I guess it's pretty easy money selling natural gas to Southern California because they have all the perks.

Absolute, impossible (?) dream wish would be a stay in the dream suite above POtC in DL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disneyland_Dream_Suite
Definitely impossible now, since it doesn't exist any longer! However, 21 Royal replaced it and for the low low cost of $18,000, you and up to 11 guests can have a meal there. On my bucket list - anyone want to go in on this? 🤣 https://www.21royaldisneyland.com/

We've done a lot of the "splurges" listed here, including Club 33 (we are lucky to live in SoCal and know a couple very generous members), dessert parties, etc. The things that stand out the most are Wild Africa Trek (looks like I'm not alone here!) along with now defunct jet skiing tour across Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. Being able to jet ski that close to MK, the Poly, GF and the old River Country area was just incredible.

The other unique tour I did in Sept 2019 was the unDISCOVERed Future World tour. I wish they would bring back more of these tours.

On my list for WDW - Backstage Magic, if it ever returns. I haven't done Keys to the Kingdom yet, so perhaps that is the next one to try.

any trip to wdw is a splurge , but if you could only do 1 extra paid activity what would it be? ke: firework dessert party, after hours event, tour whats your splurge?
thinking of Capture your moment, since its the granddaughters first trip

We're splurging quite a bit on this trip. But we never had a honeymoon and we're renewing our vows in June and then finally taking one.

Off the top of my head

-Our deluxe monorail resort
-Hired car to/from resort
-ADR dinner every night/signature dining
-DAH tickets to both events taking place during our trip
Private fireworks cruise, worth every penny!!!

The perfect way to celebrate a vow renewal. Strange but somehow it separated my post. Sorry.

Space 220 dinner? For our party of 5 we are looking at $500 + drinks , looks really cool though , trying to rationalize it by telling myself it’s only a tad more than HDDR lol

I'd give my left...uh... leg... pirate: to be able to do the tour you see me on in my avatar. Was always a blast to go through Epcot on two wheels early in the morning before anybody else was there. Did it three times. Wonderful.

I've been lucky enough to experience many magical "splurges", dessert parties at MK, fireworks cruise at Epcot, Behind the Seeds, MVMCP (the one and only time I went in December) and even a special birthday party back in 1995 when I turned 30 in the park and rode a decorated trolley down Mainstreet to a party venue with cake and characters! Last year we got a cabana at Typhoon Lagoon for the first time and enjoyed it. We are doing that again in September as well as MNSSHP, which is our top choice splurge.

Deluxe resort stays with family. Bucket list splurge would be Club Level with just me & DH.

We've done a few splurges over the years. We enjoyed the EPCOT fireworks cruise and would recommend it. We did a Star Wars-themed tour before Galaxy's Edge existed and it included a dessert party/special viewing area. Although the tour doesn't exist anymore in that form, I think it was worth it for four adults - with Galaxy's Edge I bet it would have been amazing. We also enjoyed the Halloween Party in August, although I wish a few attractions that were closed had been open. We especially enjoyed the show that night. Finally, I think that choosing a deluxe hotel is also splurge-worthy and our family loved AKL.

I didn’t love Space 220. I thought the food was just ok and the novelty wore off quickly and it took a very long time so I was restless to be back in the park doing things. I know some people love it but that might be lowest on my list of splurges. I would only go again if I was with somebody who was dying to go and even then I would be tempted to send them and meet them later. Just my opinion.

My dream splurge would be Club 33. But my reality splurge is after hours/parties

This is a fun thread. I am always looking for new things to try. We have done a bunch of these splurges. I loved many of them. My favorites would be the fireworks cruise (can’t decide if I like Epcot or MK better) and the after hours. We have done Animal Kingdom back when they still had it and Epcot and really loved both. There is something truly magical about being in the park when there are very few people. I would love to try the HS after hours but I would also do either of the other two again. I also don’t see this as too much of a splurge because we do it in lieu of another park day and it generally only costs a little more and it’s such a fun experience. With the fireworks cruises, it’s always seemed like a good value to me versus the fireworks parties since you can bring your own desserts and alcohols and for a big group it’s significantly cheaper and a very intimate experience. I did love the Frozen ever After fireworks party and the Star Wars Firework party back when they offered them. Both had fun add ons that made it feel worth it. The regular MK fireworks party I wasn’t too enamored with. The desserts are just ok and the viewing area is sometimes crowded. I really like the holiday parties as well but MVMCP is definitely my preference over MNSSHP because it was just so magical when we went and both Halloween parties we have been to we have had torrential rain which definitely put a damper on things and limited what we could do (one time the parade was even cancelled). We did a VIP tour for my 40th which I would definitely recommend as the ultimate splurge but has also gotten so much more expensive that feels like it’s only really worth it for a milestone event or if you have money to spare. It’s great for a true Disney lover though because the guides are fascinating and have so much good info.

I am definitely going to add the Wild Africa Trek to my list. I can’t wrap my head around why Behind the seeds is so popular so someday maybe I will try that just to see what the hype is. I want to look into some of the ones at the resorts and disney springs for a non park trip. The mosaic making one looks cool.

I am sure whatever you decide to do OP will be fantastic!

ours are staying at deluxe hotels. Done them all except wilderness lodge
Also, Christmas Party every year is a must

For a quick / 2 adult get away - Deluxe resort
ours are staying at deluxe hotels.
I'll add one more twist to the deluxe resort splurge. Stay at a deluxe that is within walking distance of a park.

For us, just DW and I, it was the Boardwalk Inn. We loved being able to just wander over to Epcot whenever we felt like it. (Park Hoppers or AP's are part of this splurge.)

I always thought about trying the Contemporary but Epcot is our favorite park. Maybe some day.

I'll admit it is a very big splurge.

We reserved Norway for a private Illuminations dessert party for a (25 person) family trip one year. It was great to have a private-ish, roped off spot for our group. I'd do that again in a heartbeat.

Our next spurge will be for my kids 16th birthday - Keys to the Kingdom Tour.
