Has anyone upgraded a 1 park per day ticket to a parkhopper. I want to buy a 3 day one park per day and upgrade just the last day to the park hopper. Is this possible? What is the cost?
TIA!

Yes, you can upgrade most tickets (check the fine print to make sure your ticket is eligible) as long as they are still a valid ticket (i.e., you have until the parks close on the last day of use or 14-days after first use, whichever comes first). Just note that there is no pro-ration for the pricing. So the price to upgrade to a hopper is the same whether you do it on the first day or the last day. Based on Disneyland.com, the price to add the hopper option is $40 per ticket.

Doesn't work that way at DLR. If paying turnstile prices, you would lose money.

  • If you want to upgrade a 1-day ticket to PH, you add $56 per ticket
  • If you were to upgrade a 2-day (or more) ticket to PH, you add $40 per ticket

Note, the increase is PER TICKET....not per day.
  • If you buy a 3-day ticket, you pay an additional $40 on each ticket to add PH for the whole duration of your trip
  • If you were to add PH on the last day, you would still pay the full $40 per ticket but only get one day of PH

Wow this has suprised me!
I have been having trouble with the Disneyland website so it was stuck on a 3 day ticket and wouldn't refresh the cart or anything when you choose a 1 Day.
My understanding was that it cost the same to add a hopper for your trip no matter the length or when you did it.
Why the heck would it cost you more to hop for one day then hop for 5?

Crowd management

  1. They sell more 1-day tickets
  2. Crowd management
  3. Because they can
Unlike WDW, Disneyland is very much still a local theme park and single-day trippers are still make up the bulk of its crowds. By discouraging PH, they manage crowds better and if people really only have one day...well, Disney is more than happy to stick it them for a PH option. Most local ticket specials are also base don on-park tickets (a common Spring promotion is a one-day, one-park ticket that offers second free, one-park day).

Personally, I discourage PH if just there for one day anyway. It just makes it too busy to really have time to enjoy it.
