We have 3 rooms at BWV. We are linked through MDE, will the resort know we are travelling together or should I call? In an attempt to have rooms relatively close together.

I would call and have them note that you would like to be close together. Keep in mind, it is a request and nothing is guaranteed.

Technically, the reservations can't be "linked", but you can request that they be located close together. Call and have them put a note on EACH reservation that you are traveling with each of the other reservations. That way the room assigner will see the request and try to accommodate (but no guarantees). Don't make any other room requests.

We once had 5 rooms for a wedding, with people coming and going on different days. I actually made all of them in one call with the help of a marvelous CM. She included the "traveling with" information on all the reservations, and told me to mention it at the front desk when we arrived (we got in first). When I asked about the other rooms at the front desk, they couldn't/wouldn't tell me the other room assignments, but did say I'd be very happy. As everyone arrived over the next few days, it became evident that we had 5 rooms in a row with the appropriate connecting rooms even!

I called and the CM was great. I told her that I simply wanted to note that we were traveling together and she offered to put in a request for connecting. Based on our room type, only 2 of the 3 rooms can even connect but it would be great if that worked. I have zero expectations that we will even be close together. I think the chances are slim that we would all be near each other, the stars would need to align.

Having low expectations is fine (to minimize disappointment) but you may have a better chance than you think. There's a line of logic that says if the goal of the room assigner is to maximize the number of requests that CAN be honored, then they should start with those situations that involve multiple rooms. That way, they fill a block of rooms at once and fill the requests for those rooms at the same time. Obviously depends solely on the CM assigning the rooms, and what their methodology is, but be hopeful!
