We were blessed with a trip to wdw April 22-27th. I am taking my children alone ages 1, 9, 12, and almost 14 year old, My husband started a new job and unfortunatly cannot go with us..Not sure if I am brave or crazy! I have a few questions as it has been quite a while since we went and this has never been the situation. Will they let us use the baby swap if my 14 year old stays with my 1 year old? Is the water safe to drink out of the tap in the hotel and the water fountains in the park? Thanks for any info!:wizard:

I do think that the baby swap will be OK, but we'll see what others have experienced.

The water is safe to drink, but doesn't taste so good to many people. A few sensitive folks may get a stomach ache from it if they drink a lot of it. Many of the drink stations at counter service have water you could use to refill a bottle and it is filtered.

I think you will have a grand time!

WOW. Ya'll will have a great time. What we did with water was fill up a couple of 32 ounce water bottles with ice right at bed time, then re-filled the bottles with ice in the mornings to save on water cost. They stayed pretty cool throughout the day. And we did re-fill from the tap in the parks when we ran out and there were no upset stomachs, etc... from that.

Can't answer the baby swap question for you, but I'm sure that someone will come along later that can.

Have a wonderful time.

Gee, I would sure hope that if you explained to an attraction CM the situtation about you being there as a solo parent with 4 kids - that they would let your 14 year old and you do a child swap.

Here's crossing my fingers for you!

First of all it is Disney world in Florida for heavens sake not a third world country of course the water is safe.... Unless you plan on filling them in the lagoon and then it is a big no-no!

Second Disney has no idea who you are doing the baby swap with. and it is not their business who you want to swap with. You could leave it with the 9 yr old if you wanted to. Your biggest problem will be convincing the 12 and 14 yr old to take turns staying with the baby because 2 kids can go back on with you when you ride. Their only rule is you must be 7 to ride alone and meet the height requirements if there are any. You don't have to explain anything to anyone.

Have a great trip.

Is it safe enough to mix formula with, I should have been more specific, my bad. Thanks for all the help!

Yes again it is 100% safe drinking water. If your baby is very small though it may not like the taste because Florida water is very minerally. But I thought you said it was 1 in your first post so maybe you won't even be on formula and can just do milk. or use water from regular old water bottles for the formula so it doesn't taste different. This is actually the easiest way to do it on the go. Then you don't have to lug a filled bottle or heavy water around all day. Just buy a bottle of water when you are ready to mix the bottle then all you are carrying is the powder and empty bottle, I did this.

yes, it is fine. We used it to make bottles when my ds was 8 months. My DH, dd (3 at the time) , and I drank the water out of the tap as well the entire trip. We just refilled our resort mugs with the tap water. We were totally fine, and it tasted fine to us.

He will have just turned one, on the 20th..I'm holding off on the switch until after the trip. Thank you very much for all the replys!

Just wanted to say have fun! It will be great!

I went a few years ago with my two kids and a dear friend and her four kids (at the time they were 6 year old twins, a 7 year old, and a 9 year old). Our husbands had to stay home (which I think they preferred!!). We had a lovely time, staying at the Dolphin (so she could get a rollaway in her room, so she only had to have one room, and I had one room near her). Staying right there on site was so easy, and she loved it (as did the kids).

Hope it is a great time!

Glad you posted this! I think I must be crazy too. I'm going by myself with three children, 3,5 and 14. I have NO idea how we are going to do the rides! I guess it will work out!

I don't see where you would have any problem. You have a built in second adult. The 14 and the 5 or the 14 and the 3 and you with the other one.

That's what I was thiking would work. Until the 14 year old wants to get on rides that the little ones can't ride. She's probably going to have to ride them by herself while we wait for her.

We used bottled water when we had to mix formula for our dd on previous trips. I just bought a case of water and threw a few in the bag when we went to the parks. It was room temp and ready to go. I think FL water tastes nasty (its safe, though) and since I wont drink it, I wouldnt give it to my baby either. Good luck with taking the kiddos. I would do it if DH couldnt go with me:thumbsup2

Woo Hoo someone else as nutty as I am. Arriving on Apr. 25 solo with 4 kids, 12, 10, 9 and 7. Lots of trips but never on my own. Can't Wait!!!! Good luck with the baby.:thumbsup2
