1 Million Bucks... 1 charity only.....

Would something like Kiva count? Instead of hand-outs, they make small loans to poor people for businesses. The money gets repaid, so I could loan out the original million many, many times and help lots of people.

If not, either the United Way (does that count, because they are more of a charity federator) or the Red Cross.

But, both the NRA and Right to Life have very similar goals.

As oxymoronic as it sounds, shrubber is correct about the NRA.

I just thought of another charity, I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I'd LOVE to give a ton of money to the USO. They make life more pleasant for our military people and their families, and it's greatly appreciated.

St Jude Children's research Hospital

They saved my life 39 years ago when I had a Wilm's Tumor. Survival rate was very low then, it is now 90%. My daughter was sent there last year when we thought she had Ewing's Sarcoma. They treated her for months before they could rule it out. They are an awesome hospital. No parent is ever billed. They will take what insurance pays and if you have none, they still treat you. They make it fun there. My daughter actually misses it and one Sunday we drove back for the umpteenth time and she said "welcome home" and compared it to Disney!!!!! Now, that says it all right there. I actually have a life insurance policy that will go straight to them. I would be honored to give them a million dollars.

Mission
Established in 1990, The NRA Foundation raises tax-deductible contributions in support of a wide range of firearm related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans. These activities are designed to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those participating in the shooting sports, and to educate the general public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context. Funds granted by the NRA Foundation benefit a variety of constituencies throughout the United States including children, youth, women, individuals with physical disabilities, gun collectors, law enforcement officers hunters and competitive shooters.

While I don't own a firearm, I do believe in upholding the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution, and I appreciate the NRA funding millions of dollars towards firearm safety. Since it's every American's right to own a licensed firearm according to our government, I applaud the NRA for using 100% of it's donations to making this right safer for us.

Yes, important charities are for the sick and the underprivileged, but there are other worthwhile causes out there that benefit society, the NRA being one of them, in my humble opinion.

I think many people have no idea about what the NRA does and represents...they hear National Rifle Association and they assume gun-toting trouble-makers. Watch the news tonight, and I'd bet my house that every armed robbery or drive-by shooting was NOT done by a member of the NRA.

Not debating, just informing that the NRA is a highly-rated charitable organization and there's nothing wrong with helping them achieve their goals of promoting gun safety by donating a million dollars if someone wishes to do so.

Seriously? You didn't even pick one. Just because his decision isn't one that you would pick doesn't give you any right to be disrespectful.

Oh you are so right! I did forget to put my choice down. I'll do five:

ASPCA
Humane Society of the United States
PETA
St. Judes Children's Hospital
World Wildlife Fund

All much more worthy than the NRA. He must have been joking!:lmao:

No, I was not joking.
I donate to the NRA every year ( among others )
Why would you say your choices are more worthy?
Kind of arrogant. You might want to rephrase that.

And I am sad to say that a thread about Charity degrades so quickly with folks posting about how their charity is better, or is that the best you can do.?Sad.
Give to whatever cause you deem worthy, just remember to give if you can.
And if you're in need, hopefully you'll be noticed.
