I'm heading for a Disney vacation in 2 weeks and I'm planning one day at Universal. After doing some research I came up with the following plan. Asking all you Universal vets if it looks ok or if there is anything I should change. I will be going mid week and have to leave by latest 7:30pm to catch a dinner show at Disney at 8:30. Also as you will see the plan begins in USF, but if that park has early admission that day would it be better to start in IOA? Would greatly appreciate any input.

In order to maximize my time I am planning to arrive in time for opening. I'll start off at USF with Rip Ride Rockit. I absolutely LOVE coasters and this one sounds so cool and exhilarating. Followed by Revenge of the Mummy. And then it'll be time to enter Diagon Alley. I'll do Escape from Gringott's first and then head over to Hogwart's Express so I can ride Forbidden Journey. From what I've read it is best to do this as early as possible and definitely before eating anything. I'll explore Hogsmeade and ride Dragon Challenge and have a meal. Then go on some rides in IOA including Amazing Adventures of Spiderman before returning to Hogsmeade and riding Hogwart's Express back to Diagon Alley when I'll be more at leisure to take it all in. As I leave Universal I'm hoping to have time for one more Rip Ride Rockit. It's supposed to be low crowds there so hopefully I get to do everything in my plans.

In my opinion and in my experiences I do not see you having trouble getting through this itinerary. However, I feel that you are missing out on some great rides that include (but are not limited to) E.T., MIB, Simpsons, etc. You said you would ride "some" rides at IOA so I'm assuming you've got some of these on your list:
Jurassic Park
Dudley Do-right (if you're willing to get wet)
Dr. Doom

Unfortunately the Hulk will be closed still.

I only visit (maybe) 2-3 times a month. There are many experts on here who make full vacations out of Universal who will be able to help you even more. I typically go during the week so I believe you are making a good choice. We typically do not have issues getting through both parks in a day but we usually aren't concerned with missing out because e we know we'll be back. Luckily it is not tough to switch between parks so I think its a great idea to prioritize and then fill in the extra time with the other rides you would like to enjoy. Good luck and have fun!

As a rough outline it doesn't look too bad. If you want to hit Despicable Me, I would probably hit that first. I might also hit Transformers and MIB before heading into Diagon Alley.

If you have 2 weeks, I think a day at each of the 2 Universal parks is doable. There's enough attractions and things in each park that you can make a full day of it.
You may be surpised how many attractions you like.
