Hi :wave2:
My sis and I are taking our Mom to WDW for her birthday. We all live 2 hrs away and have been many times but never without a whole slew of kiddies (sis and I have 9 between the 2 of us). We are driving down for 1 day at 1 park on Dec 9th. The park will be Mom's choice but I'm giving her some info about what is going on at Epcot, MK and MGM. I really plan to "talk up" the CP (I've already booked the dinner pkg and will cancel this weekend if she doesn't want it)- she's never seen it and I really think she'll love it. I personally would love to go to MK w/out the kids just once but I really think the CP sounds like something Mom would LOVE. I've heard the decorations are also beautiful at Epcot so I'm sure she'll love this too. We will arrive early -possibly opening. Our ADRs at Rose and Crown are for 3:40 and we'll do the 6:45 CP. We couldn't care less about the dinner this time- just want to make sure we have a good shot at seats for the CP but the dinner and CP together seems like a big chunk of our day. I just want to make sure it's worth it for her. What do you think? Would you feel you missed out on too much if you took up that much time (5 hrs or so) for the CP?

I would do it. With a good reader the CP is almost magical. I don't think you have to rush right over after your dinner. Enjoy the rest of the countries on the way. If you have guaranteed seating, you will be fine. The sound is great throughout the theater, and I do not feel this is one of those shows you have to be up front for. You can enjoy it whereever you sit.

CP is worth it! We've seen it several times, and it's always a highlight. Definitely worth the time invested. With the right narrator, it'll leave you inspired and ready for the holiday season. ::yes::

Stephen Curtis Chapman is the scheduled narrator. I would eat as fast as I could and go over to the dinner package line as soon as you are finished. People seem to think that because they have CP dinner packages that they can stroll into the theater 15 minutes before the show starts and sit in the first row. If you want a good seat, you must still invest time and effort to obstain it.

Hey mama4, I'm going to the exact same Candelight at 6:45 on Saturday, Dec. 9th! Hope to see you there. I'm going to the Coral Reef dinner though. I think your mom will love it. Epcot is wonderful especially during the holidays. Besides the Candelight, be sure to see the storytellers in each of the world showcase countries and as mickaholic stated, you should go directly to the theater after dinner even though there still may be time left. Even people with the dinner packages have a long long line to wait in (especially on the weekends).

Ok! :thumbsup2 I feel better now. EVERYTHING I've read about the show is super positive so I'm sure she (and we) will enjoy it. I really hope it kicks Moms Christmas spirit into high gear. She seems to be losing it a bit each year but I think this will be the ticket ::yes:: Thanks everyone.....especially for the tips about going straight to the theatre after dinner (I can see us with our "no kids in tow" selves sitting around at dinner like we have all the time in the world) and about seeing the storytellers -that should be fun too.... and mickeysgirl17 :cool1: would love to see you there! Even if we don't run into each other it'll be cool KNOWING someone else from :disrocks: is there!!!!

While I haven't been before (this is our 1st Christmas time trip), I would love to see it when Steven Curtis Chapman is reading. We are going to try to wait in the standby line that night, it is the same day we arrive, so maybe we'll see ya there!

We are also booked for the dinner package for another night, the 14th, I believe.

Hope you have a great day!

And couldn't you start out at the MK & then head over to Epcot before your dinner?

Ya know- I didn't think about park hopping. I guess it is only $15 extra for a 1 day fl res PH ticket. I'll ask my Mom if she wants to do that. Thanks!

CP is worth it to do at least once. And personally I am now a big fan of Rose & Crown so I am sure you will enjoy.

Just another thing NOT to miss... the holiday Illuminations. Provided they didn't change too much, they are to die for!

The CP is well worth the time, you can have a relaxing dinner, enjoy the time together, and after dinner make your way to the theater at your pace taking in the holiday decorations together. Your Mom will love the show
