1 day car rental price

What's a good price for a 1 day rental? I'm thinking it might be better for us to rent a car for a couple of days to go to Universal in December than taking a cab. The best I can find is a base rate of $33.94 + taxes/day.

I'm wondering the same thing---we're looking at one day at Legoland. Can I ask where you got the $33.94 rate? What company and where would you be renting from? I've been looking at the two on-site rental places and are coming up with more like $50 or $60 a day!

The price I got was through Costco Travel, using Alamo. I believe it was a free upgrade - so an economy for a compact price.
