Hi -

We've been multiple times & are really coming in for a few days for the food & wine festival & to enjoy a dvc stay as we are newer members. That being said, I wanted to do a day at MK.

My choice day is a Sunday but there is a Halloween party. so I'm trying to decide between an early morning day till 6PM or a Halloween party 4PM till midnight. Crowd level is currently projected as a 2 on touring plans. The day after that we are getting up to go check out the new Toy Story area at HS.

What would you do & why?
+ cheaper to do Halloween party than adding a day to our tickets
- not going to do the trick or treating thing

thanks in advance!

I've never done a Halloween party so I would probably check that out unless I knew I would be coming back at the same time next year. MK is available year round, the party isn't!

I did this last year! I chose to the the party only to save the ticket and because I hadn't done the party. I loved it because I really enjoyed the party. However, I noticed the park was really empty from regular park guests when I arrived because it was a "party day" so regular day guests that didn't have park hoppers avoided MK that day in favor of parks they could stay at longer.

If you want to experience the party (parade, fireworks, characters, TorT) then I would do the party. If you want MK - go during the day as it will be slower and easier for touring.

The party is worth doing at least once. Last year was the first year we did it. It was far busier than I expected. The parade, stage show and fireworks are worth th price of the ticket. The ride ines were less than usual. We didn't do any meet and greets or trick or treating, but still had a lot of fun.

If it's cheaper to do the Halloween party, I would do that. Especially if you don't plan to trick or treat, that will give you more time to go on the rides which will have relatively low wait times. The parade and fireworks are really cool too!

I had one day at MK a couple years ago with my dad and we chose to do both. We did the park ALL day including the party. I say go for the party, especially if you are a dvc member because you'll have access to the park at other times. While you'll also have access to MNSSHP all the time, your first time is the best. Everything is great.

The perks to doing an early morning is that there is essentially no wait until about noon-1. even after that, wait times are low. my dad and i rode space mountain twice, mine train twice, splash and BTMM twice and a few others.

The perks of the party are the parade, fireworks, trick or treating, exclusive m&g's, different food options and dressing up. While also having access to a few rides.

This is a tough choice!

I'm not a fan of the MK parties (too crowded and rope drop early crowd levels are lower than really late party crowd levels). Also, I'm not a huge parade / fireworks fan. I love the low crowds on MK days when you need to leave early because of the parties, so I would do that. Some people like the parties due to chances to meet and greet characters that aren't around normally. I don't do the character meet and greets, so that's another reason the parties aren't that thrilling for me.

Everyone is different in what they enjoy/prefer to do. For me it would be an easy choice to do the MK and leave at 4 when party people start arriving vs. going to the party. It's a rare opportunity to have low crowds at the most popular theme park in the world.

I am sure you have good reason as to why, being DVC members, you don’t have APs

So, if the price of a Halloween party ticket is close to what you will pay for another MYW day, then you should go for MNSSHP.

We do both. Lower crowds due to shorter park hours during the day and limited amount of party goers. MNSSHP is awesome!

The Halloween party is loads of fun and IMO better than the Halloween events other parks do where they try to be scary. You get to dress up, get a lot of candy, meet rare characters, and then there’s all the associated parades, fireworks shows and stage shows. Ride times are super short, even the Haunted Mansion.
