1 day at each park in July

The 2 of us will have 2 day park hoppers. This will be our first time visiting. We want to hit all the good rides as well as the top shows. We plan on hitting USF the first day, then IOA the second. Which day is best for both parks? Any tips for touring (which rides we should ride 1st)? Any tips on how to avoid long lines? We have been to USH a couple of times. No children, just a mom and a 16 year old. We plan on visiting 2 days between July 6th and 13th. Any help would be great!

I would go on a week day as it will be slower than weekends. There are some great touring plans posted here. If I can find them, I will post the link to them. In avoiding long lines, I would take advantage of the single riders lines if you are not staying on site.
