1 crazy family+2 resorts+5 parks+1 snake+1 surprise=A Mickeystoontown report 4/3x2

thanks for the pics of AOA. It looks like a resort that we will consider. With two children, we will have a fight about which area. The cars area does not appeal to me but the Lion King and Little Mermaid really look fun!

I am loving your trip report! Your writing style makes me think that we could be great friends! I love your sense of humor.

Hey Lisa, I'm joining in a little late but better late than never. I think you started this trip report while I was in Disney and I missed a week of Dising. So glad I found it as I love reading your reports.

You're welcome! The theming was fantastic! If we were to stay there, I think that I'd pick the Lion King section or Finding Nemo section. I love both of those movies.

Thank you! If you're even the slightest bit goofy, then you and I'd be the best of friends. :rotfl:

Welcome! How was the trip?

Welcome! How was the trip?

Hot and Crowded!:crazy2: We usually go to Disney for Mardi Gras because my kids get the week off from school. Now with my oldest in College the vacation schedules don't mess any longer. We thought we'd try early June to beat the crowds but we were wrong. We did get to swim every afternoon so that was a plus.
I don't think you've check in yet at Caribbean Beach so I hope you had a great vacation.

The longer we got into the vacation, the more hot and crowded it became so I can sympathize.

Lisa - we just got back from CBR and it was all you said and more. So happy we followed your lead.

Beautiful and BIG. We were in M24. Happy we stayed preferred. First day we were the fourth bus stop but the first the rest of the trip. With temps in the high 90's the 45-60 minute bus waits were no fun. This happened five times. But your at Disney so life could not be better. At POR we had rag time music on the bus but at CBR music only once. The food court was awesome.
We are so happy to take your advice.
Note: I could go on but of note my grandson was in bed sick the last two days and Linda left $600 cash in the room safe and didn't remember it until an hour down the road. So does that mean we can count going back to Disney one more time?

Whew! I'm glad to hear that you guys had such a good stay at the CBR! Holy crap! We've never ever had long waits for the buses but you know what? I've been reading a lot of posts about waits at all of the resorts. I'm wondering if Disney didn't count on as many people being there or they had a shortage of buses.

I'm hoping that ya'll went back and got the $600! In my opinion, if you come back from Disney with money in hand, you can use it to book/pay for the next trip to Disney!

We gotta go back! You’ve had that forever! It’s magic!

Our tour of the Art of Animation Resort over, we started making our way out of Animation Hall and out to the parking lot. Along the way, John had this look on his face like something had just hit him. :scared1: I could see him feeling around in the pockets of his cargo shorts. This usually means one of three things: 1) he has a phone call and he’s trying to get his phone out; 2) he is on the verge of grumbling about how heavy his pockets are getting; or 3) he’s looking for something and can’t find it. He kept patting around on his shorts and I could tell that this was a number 3)....looking for something and couldn’t find it. Uh-oh!

After watching him stick his hands in and out of his pockets and fiddling around with the buttons on the side pockets, I asked if he had lost something. “Yeah, my contact case.” “Oh crap! You sure?” (Like I hadn’t just watched him searching each and every pocket on his shorts?) "yeah, I'm sure." I got to the SCAR and turned on the air conditioner and then everybody searched under the seats, in the seats and basically everywhere to see if we could find the contact case. It wasn’t there.

We all wondered if he had left it back at French Quarter. John mentally walked back through the steps that we had taken the night before and that morning and he remembered the contact case sitting on the table inside his hat along with his wallet. He remembered getting his wallet and, he was wearing his hat, so where was the contact case? There was only one thing to do: “We gotta go back! You’ve had that forever! It’s magic!”. pixiedust:

So, how exactly does a contact case become something “magic”al? You see, John has epilepsy and, when he has an aura, facial twitches, etc., he takes what we like to call his “magic” pills a/k/a Ativan. He can slip one under his tongue every 15 minutes until the symptoms subside. The Ativans are very porous and dissolve quickly so we have to keep them watertight. Many years ago, when we were trying to find something to keep them in, we came up with the idea of putting them inside a contact case. We cut the two containers apart and he’s kept one with him daily every since. We did have more Ativan but we wanted that case back and, by golly, we were going to find it.

I wheeled the SCAR out of the Art of Animation and we made our way back to French Quarter. The first thing that we were going to do was retrace our steps from our room to the parking lot and see if it had fallen out. But, when we pulled into the parking lot near what was our room, we saw what looked like a higher-up in maintenance and I pulled out my nicest Southern gal charm and approached him. John and I explained that we had left just about a hour or so before, gave him our room number and I even offered to show him our room key to prove that we had been there. He said that housekeeping had already been in the room but he’d let us in and we could look around.

He opened the door and it was a mess! The sheets and bedspreads had been thrown to the floor, the towels were on the floor, the garbage was sacked up, etc. How would we ever find the magic pill case? :confused3 The place was in shambles. And, like a beam of light from Heaven, there, on the table, we saw the cute little towel birdie. John picked it up and...ta-da...it was sitting on the magic pill case! Can you believe it? It was sitting perfectly underneath the bird. We have no idea how it got there but we didn’t care. We found the case! :woohoo: All was right with the world once again. I know had we not found it, we would have wondered all trip long where it had gone.

We walked back to the SCAR where Mama and Hunter were sitting there with a “well did you find it?” look on their faces. John waved the case in the air and Mama let out a “Hallelujah!” and Hunter a “Awesome!”. Thank you Lord for letting us find it!

We bid French Quarter goodbye again and started towards our home away from home....Caribbean Beach Resort!

John decided that he’d stay in the SCAR and make a few phone calls and let the family know that we had made it okay. Hunter took control of the camera and Mama and I went to check in. It was right around Noon when we arrived and we got in the line right as a cruise bus was pulling up.

Speaking of Disney Cruise, it looks like Hunter took a picture of the cruise ship model on display in the Custom House:

And one of himself:

Mama and I were called to the window and the castmember was efficient checking us in. She did have one computer problem along the way and called over a supervisor to help. He explained that our rooms weren’t ready but he could look around and see if there were other rooms available. I was a little apprehensive to do this because we had three reservations linked together and I was afraid that it might screw something up along the way. Also, we were early and we already knew that we’d probably have to wait. I told the supervisor that we’d just wait for the rooms to become available and that we’d go to the food court and have lunch. They got our mobile numbers and said that we’d receive a text with our room numbers. We were each given our packets with our rooms keys, resort map, parking pass, etc. and we were on our way.

Before I move on, I’ll share more pictures that Hunter took in the Custom House:

We knew that our rooms would be in Martinique and on the first floor which were the only two requests that we had made besides linking the three reservations. I drove over to Martinique Bldg. 22 (we also knew that they’d be in building 22) to kind of get our bearings and then drove over to Old Port Royale.

Ahhh, I love Old Port Royale.....steel drum music, tropical colors....we were home! :hippie: Home and hungry! Those snacks had worn off long ago and we were ready for some food. Hunter knew what he wanted. Surprise surprise! Pizza The rest of us weren’t so sure and went from one station to the other trying to decide. We ultimately ended up with:

Hunter’s Pizza:

Chocolate cupcake for dessert:

With a screw top Sprite to save for later since we had the refillable mugs:

Speaking of which, here they are:

John and Mama both ordered some sort of turkey sandwich with housemade chips but I, apparently, didn’t get pictures of the inside of the sandwich:

Mama’s pineapple upside down cake:

I believe that this was a banana nut bread that John chose for his dessert:

I chose the Monkey cupcake for my dessert:

And the chicken caesar salad for my entree:

Good gosh amighty, this meal was much much better than the dinner that we had a French Quarter. Definitely not a waste of our counter service credit.

It was so good to be back at the Caribbean Beach Resort!

**Up next: Why didn’t you send out a freakin' search party?

I forgot y'all were going back with Mama! I lost track on your TR/PTR and managed to find my way here just in time for HOME!!!!

I miss CBR.

Sigh.....

PS: I'm along for the ride again

PPS: I think the towel birdie was trying to hatch the contact case.

Yay you are checked in!!! That will be me in 232 days!! :cool1: Glad you found the case so you didn't have to wonder where it went!

GREAT Father's Day card!!! Great job!

:cool1: on finding the missing item. PHEW!

Welcome Home!!!

Lunch at CBR looks yummy. I love all of the different desserts. You don't see the pineapple upside down cake or monkey cupcake everywhere.

Yay! You are home!!!! :thumbsup2

You need to tell that boss to CHILL!! I need to see your room and get the magic STARTED! :hyper:

Okay, I never would have guessed a magical contact case! :lmao:

I'm so glad you found it!

And let the fun begin! You are home, you've had some good food, and are set to go!

I have been reading (and loving) your trip reports for years. It just occurred to me tonight that we were in the same building on your last night. We were in building 22 in Martinique 5/31-6/2. We live semi-locally so we rarely stay on property.
Now I am addicted! I love Caribbean Beach! It is so relaxing and vacation-y!

All caught up and I know how that case got under that birdie! :thumbsup2 You look so cute with your Mom checking in. LOVE the look of lunch, great choices, it all looked delicious and I loved those mugs. Looking forward to reading more! :goodvibes
