1-Bedroom vs Studio

Never have stayed in a studio and don't plan to. We love a King sized bed and the two of us travel using 1 BR. Also love the washer/dryer (less packing) and full size refrigerator. When we take anyone, we get a 2BR.

The 1 bedroom is luxury for just DH & me. I agree with most of the other posters the studio allows for more trips, but for now we have enough points so we book the 1 bedroom. We are going for 14 days Sep-Oct and doing split stays between BLT-VWL-BCV, all 1 bedrooms! Yee hah :worship:

We made the mistake of booking a 1 bedroom on our first trip. Now there's no going back and we've had to add on twice.

For the most part, it is just DH and I when we travel. We first stayed in a 1BR in 2003. We'll probably never go back to staying in a studio again. When I'm at my "home," I don't want to feel like I'm in a hotel room and that's what a studio feels like to me.

My DH and I have stayed in a 1-bedroom a few times, but we usually book a studio. The way we look at it, booking studios means more trips! The only thing I miss is not having a washer and dryer.

I guess it depends on how much time you will be spending in the room. I treat my points as I would cash. 1 bedrooms are nearly twice as expensive so to me it is only worth it if you will be in the room a lot (or if that is all that is available)

It's too bad Disney didn't put any King beds in studio rooms....but if they had, then you would have me in competition for a studio room, too. We are tall and just can't sleep on a tiny queen bed so it's a 1 bedroom to get the king bed minimum. We purchased points accordingly. Plus, once you get comfortable with a villa (kitchen, living room & washer/dryer), a tiny studio reminds me of a hotel room....not what I want for a week's vacation.

I would love to be able to spend the time in a 1 bed with just DH and myself but I book studios in order to save points. It's very nice to have a separate living area to relax it (we don't cook meals on vacation) and I do love having the full size refrigerator. We only book 1 or 2 bedrooms when we travel with the kids. Studio's work fine for us, as we don't spend alot of time there anyway and I'd rather have 2 vacations in a studio than 1 vacation in a 1 bedroom.

I have to say that I like the balcony very much. I am not a TV watcher, and perfer to people watch or read or just chill out on the balcony. So, in a way, I do get my own space in the studio.

We specifically bought more points so we could book at 1 bedroom at BLT. I'm sure we'll go back to studios at some point, but I'm due with our first child in October and I know it will be nice having a bedroom to put the baby to bed in (especially since we'll be at Disney at least once a year!).

DW and I like to mix it up, the 1 bedroom definitely feels very luxurious that way, but there's nothing really wrong with a studio either. First DVC trip we took was 7 nights in a studio at AKV then 3 nights at WLV in a 1 bedroom. Bliss :cloud9:

People will tell you that a 1 br isn't a good use of points. Given occupancy of a studio and 1 br are the same. It comes down to what is more important to you, space or monetary value. You may recoup the cost of extra points if you use the kitchen consistently. In a studio you can easily do breakfast and lunch in the room. So, if you will actually cook, you could come out even with a 1 br. We don't typically do laundry for a 1 week ornless stay and with a kitchen we only cook once or twice. In that respect, a studio works well for us. The downside is trying to put our 4 year old to sleep and us not being ready to do the same. Either we're in bed by 8 pm or our daughter is up too late.

I like the 1 bedroom too, the separate sleeping area and washer/dryer in room are nice.

For a short trip, I would probably choose the studio, as we wouldn't spend as much time in the room. For a longer trip, having the kitchen, jacuzzi and washer and dryer, besides the separate space, makes the trip that much more wonderful. :goodvibes (Besides, I have a hard time sleeping with someone else in anything smaller than a kingsize bed.)

I never considered staying in a studio once I saw the jacuzzi tub! However I do like to cook, and the laundry is a lifesaver. The only time that we stay in studios (and there are just two of us) is when we stay at the VGC, since it is only 20 min from home.

We are at the airport right now for a trip where the one bedroom with kitchen is imperative. The nature of the event we're attending won't allow for leisurely dining. But even on a regular trip to the world, our vacation style is different than most others. We spend a good deal of time in the room and enjoy having an apartment at WDW, because it certainly is nicer than our home!

We have enough points to stay in a 1 br at WDW twice a year now that we completed two add ons. Our VGC points are for 1-3 night stays mostly at peak times when we'll be staying late, or may have too many adult beverages to drive home safely. :rolleyes1

I love the 1 BR and that is what I book for DH and I. I use the washer and dryer and bring home clean clothes. It is easy to throw in a wash while relaxing after a day in the parks. We like the full size fridge as well. And the King size bed and separate showers are wonderful as well.
We generally are only able to go once a year, but if we were able to take 2 trips and it had to be a studio, I would be disappointed, but I would do it.

if it comes to having a 1 bedroom for 1 visit or a studio and being able to go twice, I would not hesitate to do a studio!!:)

:thumbsup2 That's us!!

We keep saying that we will go for the 1 bedroom...but keep going back to WDW instead. Those AP discounts keep us in the studios. We only have 100 points that we keep in a constant state of borrowing!

If staying in a studio...bring lots of clothes!

Laundromats -- even cool Disney laundromats are not fun places to spend your vacation.

We got caught doing laundry because the weather turned very cold and we were unprepared. I did not like trading fireworks for dirty clothes!!!!
