1 bdrm or 2?

Okay, let's see if I can explain this so folks know what I'm talking about! Want to invite my DB and DSIL to go with us in Oct to WDW. have pts to use and thought we would get a 2 bdrm, lots of room for everyone. DB says DSIL may not want to go. then we could get 1 bdrm and be okay. So should I reserve a 2 bdrm and change to 1 bdrm if DSIL changes her mind, or get a 1 bdrm and try to change to a 2 bdrm. I've told them that I need to know by March so I can reserve the room at the 7-month window, not home resort. Would like either VWL or OKW.
Anyone have any experience with this type of situation? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Last year we reserved a 2 bedroom at the 7 month window for July since my brother and SIL were joining us. Unfortunately they couldn't join us so at the end of May we called and switched to a 1 bdr without any problem.

Why not reserve a 1 bedroom and a studio? Then if SIL doesn't go cancel the studio. It takes more points, but at least you'll be guaranteed a 1 bedroom instead of trying to cancel a two-bedroom and rebook a one bedroom on what may be short notice. Or you could tell them that you're booking a 1 bedroom, and they are welcome to go but they'll have to make do with the sleeper sofa or not go at all.

I would just book the 1 bdrm, if they decide to go they still have the living room to themselves. It seems you own at BWV, give me an e-mail and maybe we could swap points. I own at VWL and HH. Good Luck.

I think that the solution is to request a two bedroom lockoff. This way you will be ale to cancel the studio and still only be paying points for a two bedroom instead of possibly a one bedroom and a studio. If you were to get the one bedroom and studio, it is very possible that they wouldn't even be near eachother.
