So, here is my conundrum, we plan on a week at WDW... Each park once, a pool day thrown in the middle, a water park day, then a half day at the 1 park we want to go back to one more time (my guess is it will be MK, but we'll see.). We are DL vets and are planning on focusing on rides that are different or completely new to us. Then on that last day we will transfer over to RPR... I know we will be tired, and could probably use a pool afternoon... But with only 1 day (the next day) to hit the highlights in the 2 parks, and we going to be mad that we didn't go do some rides that night? I am thinking we would probably have between 3-7 pm at IOA and then between 7-9 till US closes... Oh, and I am talking mid-week in mid-may (14th for sure, maybe the second half of the 13th.). Worth the $ to go for a few hours, or just rest up to hit it hard on the 14th (and yes we'll do early entry rope drop till close.)

into the parks that first afternoon. If you're making a lot of progress the second day and start feeling tired, you can take a break then. Getting back to RPR is pretty quick.

We did one day start to finish and were able to hit most things, but som only once and others not at all.

Rip Ride Rocket was the biggest miss for me. I got in the Express line and it seemed to move about a foot a minute. I gave up to meet my family heading back to IOA.

Thanks, it's just an extra $50 to add a day, so maybe it is better to have the option then not to... We could go in check it out ride a few rides and then hit the pool before bed too I guess... Or would it be better to do the pool for a couple hours and then maybe just do US from 5-9? Crowds should be pretty low then right?? I seem to understand that closer it gets to close on week nights the less people?? I just hate to have that amazing pool right there and never even set foot in it!! I figure we'll be done with the motherland by noon or 1 and since we'll have the car loaded already, it will just be the matter of driving over to the new resort, checking in, and then I think I will probably return the car... Hate to have it past a week and pay the premium for those two days when we won't be driving, and we are leaving soooo early on Thursday that's a pain to take care of topping it off etc before we drop it off at the crack of dawn... So I am hoping for a good rate with hertz since they are on site there, or I think Avis is across the street at the doubletree... So that would be easy... :)

you also have 3 other rental car agencies in the area near the darkside.

if you have done universal hollywood before, there are a few rides in orlando you might skip over and do last if you run short of time.

i believe the TF there is the same in orlando.

You know, in all our trips to DL I've never been able to tear myself away to do universal... Plus dd is on the tiny side, and just discovered she loves big rides, so it would have been a waste.

As far as rental car places, I am hoping for somewhere that is in the terminal for pick up, and then within a 10 minute or so walk back to RPR after drop off... If you have other suggestions, I'd love to hear them, as hertz tends to be incredibly expensive... It's just a car! Lol. I just started searching and the two that popped up as very close were at the doubletree and then hertz of course.

i posted in the forum sometime back.
i'm looking for the map i used there, but can't find it right now.

enterprise 7299 universal blvd
avis at doubletree
hertz onsite at UO
dollar at 5905 kirkman
budget as above at the holiday Inn (near major blvd)

there are some other places and i'll list them if i can find my list i used to help others recently.

orbitz, hotwire, rentacar.com, etc can be another place for you to check on rates.

Thanks much! I'll try and find your post too!

i had some phone numbers for those places i listed but my computer hutch is such a mess right now.

i cleaned it up over the weekend and can't find a thing.......:sad2:

sometimes you can find car rental codes on the transportation forums.
if you have a sams club card, aaa, airline membership/reward program, aarp, military, you can find codes using those programs for car rentals.

sometimes you will see an ad in the sunday papers, or in a magazine that has codes for car rentals.
i see hertz codes in the People magazine at times.

go to the drug store/walgreens and browse thru their mags and see if you can find any in them.

i linked my united plus membership (air) to enterprise and received a good discount when i rented a car out of BWI when i was at the east coast in May.
i went to the United shopping site and booked thru that site for my discount with enterprise.

Thanks... I do costco sometimes, but their rates are astronomical right now, I think maybe it is too early... Most discount codes I've seen expire 12/31... So I may have to wait a bit... I tend to book as soon as I see a rate I like, and then keep checking for lower rates. We have a minivan in Kauai for $570 for 10 days... Which I think is pretty good... Right now Econ cars in Orlando for a week are nearly that much... And I am not going to try those off-brand places.... Avis, budget, enterprise, hertz will have to just come down in price! Lol

Okay, I looked up a map... Avis at doubletree, budget by holiday inn, Alamo is at 4 point Sheraton, and dollar is at international palms... All those look fairly walkable... And all are $700 and up for a week long compact or subcompact rental. That is just plain insane... Better get a good coupon code!! And adding two more days while we are at US isn't bad, but then you add $45 extra for parking fees too... And that is even more ridiculous... So I will probably still just get the car for wdw, and get rid of it and get a cab or something to the airport on departure day.

since your trip is not until May of next year, those car rental rates this far out will run high.

keep watching and when you are 5 or 4 months out, prices will change.
meaning they will go down.
