We are going the first week of Oct (s-th),DVC, & decided to add 3 days before at an AS resort to lengthen the trip & get 3 days of free dining.

The main reason we were getting the DDP for the entire trip was because my inlaws were going....now they have had to cancel....Since we're getting a Thurs/Fri/Sat. w/free dining (Thurs. won't be used til SUn probably if we arrive late), would you PAY FOR DDP for the S-Th portion of the trip or just try to get the favs (expensive) places in while you were doing free DP. We have a DD18mths who will share +DD4 who mainly eats the kids meals.

We did DP in May(because others were w/us) & will do it next trip but I'm thinking of maybe not doing it for the 2nd 1/2 of this trip.

I may have some ADR's to cancel...What do you think???

THanks.

Since the Sun-Thurs part of your stay is DVC, you really have pretty simple math to do. Just figure out how many of the ADRs you want to keep, and see if they add up to more than your cost. With DVC, you don't have rack rate or tickets to factor in - they're not required.

Your math is the same as mine - 2 adults and one child. If you plan on doing one TS dinner each day (or a character meal), I think you'll do no worse than break even. If you use your TSs for breakfasts or lunches, you have to do the math.

On our most recent trip in May (Sunday-Thurs) we did three nice dinners (Teppenyaki, Le Cellier, and Coral Reef) and two character dinners (LTT and 1900 PF). Ignoring menu prices and only considering dinners as we really would have purchased cash with the DDE 20% discount, I calculated that we saved at least $70. Bear in mind that I did not include ANY CSs or snacks in those calculations, despite the fact that we used every one of them. (I wanted a very conservative comparison).

If it is going to cost you more than $85 per day to feed you family, keep the dining plan.
