Went with 9 total in 3 cabins (wife's side of the family, 2 sisters, 2 kids, mom, 23 yr old niece and us..wife, son & me.)
What we liked..
Lunch in Parrot Cay after boarding. We thought it was the best buffet we had on the cruise.
The shows were great. Order of perference for us was Disney Dreams, Hercules and Golden Mickeys. I know Hercules gets some bashing on the boards, but some of the humor is geared toward adults a bit and does require you to have seen the film to appreciate it.
80's Night in Wavebands and music trivia contest.
Palo's...a must for adults for the best service I have ever had. Don't miss this!
Mickey Pool for the 4 year old. Weather was too cold on embarkation day and Nassau for the pool (especially for Floridians who like hotter pool temps). But he loved it the afternoon on Castaway Cay (and not too crowded). Day at Sea was nicest weather wise, but pools were a zoo! (no suprise there)
Rooms were very nice and much bigger than most cruise lines (think were were in Cat 9 with porthole). Nice not having the bunk bed over the main bed. Little one loved being up in the bunk.
Our wait staff was fantastic and was nice to have folks go out of their way for you.
Staying on the boat in Nassau and enjoying it with only 25% of the folks still on board.
Kid's Club for our 4 year old was great. He didn't want to live in there, but enjoyed going for 2-3 hour blocks. He was there over 5 hours on Palo's night and we got paged, so only got about 4 bites of my chocolate souffle. If my sister-in-law's weren't 40 min's late to Palo's, would have finished before he paged us. Michael (out Palo waiter) ensured us the late start was no problem and to enjoy the meal at our own pace. WOW!
Things we we're a little disappointed in...
Food at Animator's Palate wasn't as good. My veal chop was dry and chewy and double chocolate cake was dry too (sent that back for something else). Although the atmosphere was great. I didn't send back the chop as I felt like I ate too much already on the cruise and was the last night.
Not enough character greetings. I know they can only be out 30 mins (what a great union!) and seems like you are lucky to get the photo or autograph. Lines are a zoo for these.
Seas were rough 1st 5-6 hours (12-17 ft.) and did require Bonine for the few of us...but can't fault Disney for that.
My wife had left a souviner drink at the spa and called to have them save the cup and said they would. But when we went to pick it up, cleaning staff had thrown it out. Spoke with guest services, so they called the beverage manager and said they only have that style of cup on Castaway Cay and they couldn't replace it. Ok, it's only $3 but the wife liked it. Next day we see the same cups at a bar by the Goofy pool and called again. They did end up sending one to the room, but took a little more effort than needed. I mean how can you not recognize a plastic coconut cup and realize you have them.
Dropped off the pillow cases to get signed when we boarded and got a vm to our room at 1:15 a.m. (the day we were to disembark) to pick them up. I thought they would have delivered them to our room earlier in the cruise. Ohwell.
In the end it was a fantastic trip and can't wait to do it again. There will be plenty to us to try on the next trip as you just can't do it all. Still was very impressed with the staff, ship, food and activities. Will be keeping a lookout for deals on a future booking.
