1/22/2006 Roll Call for Wonder Cruisers

Roll Call (so far) :grouphug:
Mickey Minder: Mareda, DH-Greg, DD13-Ashley (cat 3 8086)
AlvaroLuis: Alvaro, DW, DD14, DS11 (cat 12 GTY)
Zakatak: Karen, DH, DS9, DD7, DD5, DMIL
Tahoe: Karin, DH, DS7, DD4 (cat 4)

The door signs are wonderful. I saw all kinds of door decorations on the ship. Not all were DISers. There is someone on this board who will make the magnetic signs for you. I think she charged $5.00. Karin, I agree with the relaxation. Just get me to the ship on time. We will have to schedule a DIS meet. On our last cruise we had a DIS meet, a ladies brunch at Palo and a poker game for the guys. The kids kind of missed out on meeting and that was unfortunate. We are going to have so much fun. :cool1:

I was in San Diego in the summer of '86.

As far as planning, I love to plan all our trips and this cruise will be no different. But I don't think we'll be doing any shore excursions (that might change, thought!)... we want to enjoy the ship.

Hi Karin! Glad to hear you're on board! :sunny:

Our plans are simple... give MIL a great time. She is the only remaining Grandparent for our kids so I want them to have a great time! We plan on possibly getting off the ship in Nassau to do some shopping (with the kids in the kids club). Maybe an hour at most... otherwise, enjoy the ship, the programs and hopefully the sun! :sunny:

On Castaway Cay day, we will get off the ship right away, grab a great spot on the Family Beach (down by the lifeguard/jumping station) and just relax and drink Konk Koolers all day! :cool1: Maybe take the boy snorkeling if the weather is cooperative.

Ship Day... relax. Watch a couple movies. Soak up the sun! :sunny:

Will we have our Dismeet on the first day? How about on Nassau day, maybe in the afternoon if nobody has any excursions? This should be fun!

We probably will just get off the ship briefly and do some shopping. Don't think we are going to do any excursions. Great idea!

I'm going to defer to those of you who have cruised DCL before to decide where and when we should meet!

Unless someone can convince me why we should get off the ship in Nassau, I think that we are more inclined to stay aboard and enjoy what the Wonder has to offer. We are not big shoppers, and because this is supposed to be a relaxation trip for us, we don't want to do a lot of walking. Give me a white sand beach with turquoise water (sounds a lot like Castaway Cay!), and we'll be quite happy.

And I'll be making a door sign! At least I have seven months to think about it!

Believe it or not, even though this is our first cruise, I'm already thinking about when we can take our second DCL cruise, esp if we book soon for late 2006.

Karin

Don't know yet if we'll get off in Nassau. Probably go ashore in the morning for some quick shopping. It might be a good idea to meet mid-afternoon (around 3pm) in order to allow anybody going ashore to get back to the ship on time.

hey! your not alone. my daughter and husband, my 1st grandbaby and I will be crusing in jan. we cannot wait to go. this is my seventh DC but my first with an infant. wish us luck!

I'm wondering who in our group has late dinner seating. We chose late seating because, more than likely, the kids will stay on west coast time since it's a vacation.

Also, for those of you who've been on DCL before, should we bring our own beach towels, esp for Castaway Cay? I know that they probably have towels, but are they big ones, or bath towel size?

Happy summer! :sunny:

Karin

We have late dinner seating. Did not specifically asked for it, but like the idea of a late dinner... we usually have dinner at 7:30pm anyway...

We have early seating due to the kids ages. Last time we had late seating and they kept falling asleep during dinner. :rotfl:

On our first trip we got late seating. We were somewhat tired and hungry by then so we opted for early on our last trip. Then we felt rushed and the concierge bought us snacks each evening anyway. We decided to go back to the late seating for this trip. We will work in Palo somewhere, maybe just for dessert. I gotta have some chocolate souffle.

Karin, the towels are pretty standard size but you can take as many as you want. There will be lots of CMs handing them out as you get off the ship. I would not take up valuable packing space to take them. Also, they have nice big ones for sale in the shop and on CC if you change your mind. I bought one with the DCL logo on it. It has become known as "mom's towel." DD will occasionally ask if she can "borrow" it. :teeth:

Hello fellow cruisers! We just booked this cruise a few days ago. Glad to see we are not alone! :cool1:

It will be my DH and myself; our cousins and their 2 DS; and our uncle.

I can't believe we are going on the same cruise as AlvaroLuis!! :worship: You are a celebrity on the Live May repo cruise thread! :rotfl2: Hope we have time to get together and reminisce! It just goes to show, once you step foot on a Disney cruise ship, you are hooked! :earboy2: Are you going to be onboard the Magic as it comes back through the canal??

Welcome to "OUR" cruise!!! :rotfl: This is going to be so much fun!!!
I'm so glad to hear you'll be on this cruise also... I'm sure we'll have LOTS of time to talk about that May 14-days cruise... You'll have to tell me about the rest of the cruise... and I'll give you a few more tips about the Canal :teeth:

Did you know Kelli is also booked for this cruise? I should probably let her know about this thread!!!

BTW... I'm no celebrity but it feels good to know that somehow had a possitive impact in your whole Canal transit experience. I had such a wonderful day on the MAGIC... and was very sad to leave at the end of it... but "I shall be back!!!"... just not sure if I'll be one of the pilots on the August 21 transit :confused3

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Hello all,

My best friend Michelle and I try to get together every couple of years for a cruise and leave our kids and husbands behind. :earseek:

I cruised the Magic in 1/03 with my family and we are going on the Magic Western this October (me, dh, ds11 and dd7). So when my friend Michelle and I decided to book another four day cruise, I suggested that she might enjoy DCL this time. We're going budget in a cat 12 guarantee. I'm used to being able to see outside, and don't know how I'll do without a porthole, but hey, I'm on the ship!! :goodvibes

I am really excited about seeing the Wonder and introducing Michelle to DCL!

WELCOME Melissa and Michelle!

I know what you mean about being able to see outside, we booked a cat 12 also. DH is not too happy about it so I may have to give in a spend the extra money for the cat 9. But I'm holding out as long as I can, it's only four days, I think he can handle it. We've had a baclony on the last 5 or 6 cruises we've been on so even going to a porthole will be a change, but we need to save money for the 10-night cruise 9/06, we are definitely not booking an inside for that one.

Alavaro,
ok, you may not be a celebrity but you definitely added to our MAGICal cruise. We weren't able to meet you in the suite but you gave us so much great information in the thread, it really enhanced our Panama Canal experience. :goodvibes
Please tell Kelli to join us on the thread, we should all setup a mini Panama reunion. :cool1:

I'm on a guaranteed Cat 12 too.... do they have enough cat 12 cabins?... :rotfl2: Our only previous experience on a cruise was a 7-nights southern caribbean with Carnival, with a balcony... I'm sure it won't matter not to have it this time... we're so excited about cruising with DCL!!! :Pinkbounc

I PM'd Kelli... will also send her an email... we have kept in touch... just about every day since she got back home :cool1: I'm in for the mini Panama reunion...... just don't make me the "official speaker"... :earseek: :earboy2:

Either that or we're all going to know each other REALLY well by the end of the cruise! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Anyone else following the Magic thread for her return home? I normally don't pay too much attention to that kind of stuff, but for some reason I am really excited about the Magic's return to Florida. :)

So Alvaro, how come you're so famous? Obviously I need to get out more, lol.

Oh, believe me Melissa... you don't wanna have to share the same bed with my 12 yo son... he will literally kick you out :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Long story short: I met someone (Kelli) on an internet group and it turned out she was going with her familiy on the Magic's May repo cruise. We emailed back and forth for almost a year. She went on the cruise with almost 300 DIS members. I'm a pilot in the Panama Canal and managed to be assigned on the Magic's transit through the Canal that day. We met on the ship and had the most wonderful time with lots of very nice people at Kelli's huge verandah...... guess that's it!

After that I felt in love with the Magic, and decided to book this cruise... and I'm planning to book a 7-nights cruise for next December also. :cloud9:
