1/22/2006 Roll Call for Wonder Cruisers

You all should not worry about the forecast too much! Weather in Florida can change hour to hour! And if the forecast calls for scattered showers...that usually means that it will be sunny, rain for an hour in the afternoon and then be sunny again. Sometimes it can be overcast and rainy all day but it's not the norm.

Just 2 days ago, the weather forecasted for rain all day today. It's been warm and sunny out all day!
They don't call it the Sunshine State for nothing! :rotfl2:

Ok.....we'll hold you to it. No just kidding. It has to be better than Iowa weather! :)

I just wish the next few days would hurry up!

 Hi, it's 2 for us, Wendy and Cookie
I'm still fretting over the wardrobe thing, but got it down now. I will be in Vegas at the Miss America Pageant right before the crusie. Hubby gets to take the Vegas suitcase home while I continue on. What a great guy!!

You'd never know that I was an introvert would you???? These boards have actually been very good for me. Is anyone thinking of doing the seques (I'm SURE that spelling is wrong) on Castaway Cay? VERY intrigued by them. We're thinking of doing it at WDW as well.

These boards really are good for all kinds of people!! After talking for a year, you really do get to know people for who they are!! SO glad to hear you're coming in the day before...January weather can be scary, and I can't imagine missing the boat!! There are SO many things to go wrong at airports in CA!!

Of course, the weather is our biggest problem. In Dec 1997, our WHOLE family went to WDW, and we'd left in plenty of time, we thought. There was a huge pileup on the interstate between us and the airport and the roads were very slick. It took us 2 hours to get through Ft Collins and Loveland and back to the interstate. We actually got TO the airport as our plane was taking off. We all went to the restaurant and left my Mom (the travel agent) to get it all arranged. Sat in the airport for 6 hours, but we were VERY lucky! Most flights to Florida are full in the winter, and the later flight still had room for 7 people!! Now that we've started cruising, I keep thinking how much more awful it could have been! Luckily, it was just a free night before all the fun started!!! We didn't feel lucky then, but now I know....

OK, after MUCH scratching my head, I think you mean the Segways! I didn't know they did them on Castaway Cay! I played with one for about 15 minutes on our first cruise, but they got too popular and I wasn't able to get in or didn't see it on the navigator the other trips. It was fairly pricey, but I really don't recall the price at all. We were booked to do the Segway tour of Epcot last May, but we didn't get to Epcot in time and forfeited the money. I was thinking of trying again this trip, but it slipped my mind until you said it.

I'll try to call WDW this morning on my way to work and see what days it's offered and if there's any availability. How long are you staying after the cruise?

Ohh thanks! I did not realize that Kelli and I would be such close neighbors!

I was supposed to do the Segway tour at Epcot this past October with some of my fellow mooseheads, but unfortunately Hurricane Wilma had other ideas! LOL Definitely let me know how it goes! I have 6 days until we leave! Woohoo! How about everyone else? Is Alvaro the only one of us "Officially" on vacation?

What is segway? I think it seems most everyone is leaving Thurs, Friday or Sat. We are leaving Thursday and spending a few days at the park before hand.

Is everyone decorating their door. If so with signs? I am thinking about having DD (17) who is not going but is a great artist make one for us.

We're only able to do 2 1/2 days after (including Thursday). I have no vacation time left at work so we couldn't spend the amount of time we really wanted to. We're doing the DVC member cruise in October as well so we'll tack on a couple of days there too!!

If the Segway doesn't happen this time around, there'll be another! YEE HAW!

The Segway is a two-wheeled vehicle that you stand on. I believe it's propelled as the rider maneuvers the handle, sort of like a joy stick on a video game, though that's probably REALLY simplistic in explanation. They look like LOTS of fun, and I'm a fun kinda guy!

:confused3 I keep telling myself "At least your going, how many moms I know can't"
But I finally had some time to look back a little on this thread, and everyone is now on deck 6. I am excited to try the but of the boat, deck 2, close to everthing is what I'm told. But my 1st Disney cruise I was on deck 6. It was awesome. So I called to see if I could upgrade, (Thought I'd surprise my Mom) I figured it broke down to about $50 a day for the veranda. But because I booked through DVC I had to call them. They said there was only like 1 cat up, (Cat 8 I think) so not worth it (I guess this is what is available for DVC) But since I don't have enough points left to cover both upgrades, I would have to cancel one reservation, get the points back, pay cash for one and then use points to upgrade for the other. Not really worth it. When I checked online, there were a few cat 6 left. ((BTW, we have the very last seating. When I called about the upgrade, I asked for my dining rotation so I could plan my wardrobe, I was told they don't know yet (2 weeks before the cruise!?) but not to worry there is no dress up night. Hmmm.))
SO, now I'm wondering, if I get to the port with CASH in my hand, and a cat 6 is avail, will they allow me to upgrade, giving the nonsense I stated above??? Please let me know if you have any insight!!
I also saw that there will be a meet at Mickey pool around three, I'm not so sure that I'll make it, because I will be traveling the red eye from Vegas and might be zonked out in one of the lounge chairs (YES I died and went to Heaven) :worship:
Thanks for the ears :earsgirl: and all your help.
Wendy

I haven't been to the boards for a while and wanted to catch up with what you all have been doing before we head out in 3 days!!!!!!

We are so excited but nervous about getting everything done & packed on time. Our flight leaves at 6:30 and so we will be leaving our house at 5:00 AM Tuesday morning. We will stay at Pop Century Tuesday night and then switch over to AKL Wed, Thurs & Fri. Saturday we will drive to Cocoa Beach & stay at the Marriott. I don't think I've posted our info about our cabin number and our Cast Members to add to your tally so here it is:

Cabin 2603

Me (Toni, 40 - Telling my age doesn't bother me so I figured I'd share)
DH (Vernon, 41)
DS (Justin, 9)
DS (Dillon, 5)

I will probably be busy until we go so I'm not sure I will post again but I look forward to getting together with you all. Even though I have not been the most active on the board I still feel like I know you from reading through it all.

See ya soon!

Toni, thanks for checking in again! My 40th is coming up this year--and I don't mind sharing that either! Have a safe trip, and we'll see you on the ship!

Wendy, I don't have any extra insight, but I'm guessing that they will allow you to upgrade, because I don't think they'd pass up extra money! From what I've read, if you want an upgrade, you should get there when they open.

We'll look for you on a lounge chair--I won't bother you, but Kelli might!! :rotfl2:

Toni:
Thanks for checking in and we'll see you on board.

(My 40th was 7 years ago. Once I hit 30 I saw no difference in who I was so, what the heck! Grab the ring! Tell your age loud and clear!!! :scared1: I LOVE being 42!!!!)

Yes, when DH aren't looking......we can let Michael know!!! Actually Mark is so laid back, he wouldn't care if I said it when he was paying attention.

Actually, I have noticed that if I talk fast and jam many subjects together at once, his brain can only comprehend one thing at a time so he just agrees rather than having to think about everything. :goodvibes

I don't mean that in a mean way. He just can not multi-task like I can! :rotfl:
Both of these things (genes/jeans and jamming subjects together) STILL have me chuckling a day later! You guys are great! :grouphug:

Both Marc and I are looking forward to meetin y'all!

We changed our flights so that we'll arrive on Saturday instead of Sunday. We were getting a bit nervous about the red-eye flight and possible delays in Atlanta so we decided to fly during the day on Saturday.
Michael, I'm actually an introvert too! This thread, in particular, has also been good for me. I usually let my extrovert husband take center stage. :teeth:

Since you're flying in earlier and if you need a hotel, check hotwire for the MCO Hyatt. I just got it for $93 a night.
