That is so funny. We do not have any dogs. Just 4 kids. I had dogs growing up though. I don't think I could handle anymore in the house besides 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers!! :rotfl2:

Good morning Julie and Kelli!!!

How does your room look today, Kelli?... does it need a third coat... like... in a different color??? :rotfl2:

Things are pretty quiet down here in Panama today... the whole family is sort of up... still on bed, but everyone is awake... coffee time!

I'm having coffee too. I can not live without it. We usually just lounge around on the weekend mornings! We have never been to Panama.

Kelli,
Not to be nosey but on your profile, I see you are a telephone installer. My DH is a telephone installer/telecom tech at our local college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I just thought it was a neat coincidence.

Alvaro! Be nice now.....and it doesn't look as lavender in the daylight.....thank goodness! Keith is still not sure about it....and I'm in BIG trouble around here today....I thought I'd be "helpful" and start pulling off the tape last night....guess I REALLY don't know what I'm doing, coz I pulled off some of the new paint and the texture....right at eye level and right as you walk into the kitchen....REALLY noticable! :guilty: I asked this morning if he wanted my help, and he said "just go back to the computer...." Good news and bad news I guess....:goodvibes

Julie, wanna hear another coincidence? WE LOVE AMANA COLONIES!!!! I knew I'd heard of Marengo, but didn't remember exactly where it was so I mapquested it (I'm the mapquest freak of the group). We go through usually every June on our way to Wisconsin to see Keith's Mom. Not sure if we've actually been IN Marengo, but I'll watch for it from now on! Oh, also worked in Keokuk after the floods in '93....so I'm fairly familiar with your area!

Julie, I've never been to Marengo... so I guess we're even!

Kelli... you should know your limitations..... anything computer related I guess.... leave the "tape pulling" to Keith! :rotfl:

Btw, I know 2 of your favorite internet tools... goggle & mapquest! :rotfl2:

That is really cool. My DH is trying to be funny...he said he loves the Amana colonies too. He drives through it every day on the way to work! :rotfl: We are about 10 miles west of main Amana. I was a buyer(bought the steel/fasteners etc.) for the Amana/Maytag plant for 15 years before deciding to stay home with the kids. So do you work with telephones now?

How's the coffee Alvaro....Did you go to sleep again?

of course you haven't been to marengo Alvaro. It is very small. Only 2000 people. My DH 40th bday party was bigger than the town celebration. Well maybe it was the town celebration. :rotfl2:

I know all about them "trying" to be funny! I'm sure its gets old being right there, but the 2 times we've spent time there, we really enjoyed it! My fav spot is the millworks building. We had a "family moment" in Amana, too! We had my neice with us one year, and we'd stopped at the general store and were just leaving. She was about 10 or 11...old enough to know better, but as we walked out, she saw another "store" across the street. She said, "Oh let's go to the winery!" But she pronounced it "winnery"...we just cracked up laughing, and so did the guy sitting on the bench outside the general store...its been about 10 years, but every so often someone has to mention going to the winnery....

I've been employed at the phone company for 28 years, but started working outside in '92. The last 2 years, I've been doing the DSL lines. Kinda got roped into it because everyone knows I'm an internet junkie, but I REALLY don't know enough about computers. I keep trying to get into a computer class at our CC, but every time I get serious about enrolling our overtime goes through the roof.

Alvaro, where's breakfast? I'm getting hungry! ;)

It's one of those places where you've got to be going there to get there...unless you're REALLY lost.... :rotfl:

Julie, Have you thought of any cruise questions yet?

well I too am an internet junkie and have subscribed to mousesavers and other info sites. We have been to disney numerous times just not a cruise. I was a bit concerned about our DD (3) getting seasick as she gets car sick quite a bit but have read a few other posts on that topic. I hope they like the kids club so we can get some adult time. Since I am a stay at home Mom now, I do not have much adult time.

Even though the amana's are close, I love going and visiting the shops. They are neat and even though we are close, we are always busy with the kids so it is still a treat. ;)

I was wondering what to pack. Of couse we are used to snow/ice/cold so I wondered if we would be comfortable in shorts and t shirts on the cruise. I hate overpacking but the last year we were in Texas in January for a telecom conference and the year before in southern california. Both were colder than I expected and we ended up wearing Jeans the whole time. :confused3

What about laptops and wireless on the wonder. Do they have unlimited packages? Since I am leaving teenage daughter -17 at home we will be comunicating back and forth. Grandma just lives a few minutes from our house too and will be checking in. :confused3

That's a big problem for me going to Florida in January! If it's Florida, I expect to wear shorts....but it seems like it's cooler than it should be! The good news is that the Bahamas are a lot further south than Florida! :cool1: I looked at the weather right now and it looks like Panama weather~~highs 86 or 87º, lows 74 or 75º, scattered rainshowers....of course, it isn't January yet either.....

I googled (oh yeah, Alvaro, google rocks!) Nassau bahamas weather January and got this:

January is an "iffy" season. If you are looking for warm weather and swimming weather, you might want to go a bit more south.
January has warm weather, but can be breezey and sometimes cool, depending on the weather pattern. You can still swim, the water is a bit brisk - like June at the Jersey shore.
For me, personally, I like January/February. No humidity, no sweltering heat. Just nice weather for shorts and a t-shirt, instead of the winter coat back home.
Average temps in January would be high 70's - low 80's. Evenings can get cooler in the low 60's. Delightful.

Alvaro oughtta have this figured out by now....what with his "new" job and all..... :teeth:

Wanna hear something even funnier? My DH is an ST (telephone installer) who specializes in ADSL, as does Kelli, AND I work in the CO as a tech.....curioser and curioused!
