1/21/12 Western Caribbean Cruise

Think we'll be in for FE as well so long as we hold out for the Jan. 2012 cruise. That Mexican Kids Sail Free is sooooo tempting but I'm hoping it'll get echoed for our cruise as well. Not to mentioned it's 3 months sooner.
I've noticed first seating is still available so it seems it may be light on young families. Then again maybe it's people holding out for the KSF deal ;)
If a KSF deal comes down for Caribbean we just may need to upgrade to Deluxe family and bring DW's Mother along.

It will be interesting to see if they do the KSF for our cruise. They were running it for select dates Jan-March this year & that's why we went in January. However the prices without specials are better for next Jan than they were for last Jan. I also looked at the Mexican KSF even though we aren't really interested in the ports or missing CC. With our 10% from booking our verandah room on board, it's not much difference in price.

I have been keeping an eye out on prices for Jan & Feb cruises since coming back from our cruise. I have noticed that Feb prices have gone up slightly but Jan hasn't moved...

I would be interested in the Mexican Riviera also if it was in January. I think it only sails from California though?!? Not close enough for me!!

Yep, Los Angeles. That's the only thing holding us off. Too long a flight for DD (almost 2) and DS (4)

Yeah, flights more expensive & longer to LA than Orlando. Not to mention no CC & we're not too crazy about going to Mexico with all the issues there...

I'll totally help you out! I participated last cruise but I've never organized one. Can't be rocket science though right? I haven't posted a whole lot on this board but I'm sure we can figure it out.

Last time someone created a sticky I think and everyone signed up if they wanted to participate. Once we get closer to the cruise date and everyone has their cabin #s then everyone who's participating will note the cabin numbers. When you're on the cruise you leave a little trinket/gift in each Fish Extender at some point during the cruise. It's SO fun to come back to your cabin or wake up to little surprises!

People either make their own fish extenders or buy them on Etsy and Ebay. I bought mine on Ebay almost 4 years ago now but need to fix it a little as my puppy chewed the stick! oops! pug:

I'm willing to help out with the FE as well. Some of my friends have been on several Disney cruises and told me of the name tags they used when meeting up with DISers on their cruise. They picked up the Disney paint samples (shaped like Mickey) from a home improvement store and turned them into name tags.

Anyone coming in the night before the cruise leaves?

The name tags from paint samples is a great idea!

We will be coming in the day before like we did last cruise. Coming from Michigan in January, we don't want to mess with the weather.

Loriekins,

Are you driving or flying in? We will probably fly in and I am looking into transportation from a hotel to the port (other then Disney's).

We will be flying in on the Friday at some point, renting a car and will be staying somewhere near the port. DH will return the rental car after he drops us off at the port on Saturday.

We'll be joining all of you on this cruise. :cool1: I am very happy. DH, DD and I are returning cruiser. We did the Magic back in 2009. We loved it, so thought we'd try out the Western this time around. It will be myself, DH, DD (6), my parents (who have never been on a cruise) and my mother-in-law (coming from Cali to join us) .

If you need help with the FE - count me in. Our kiddo really enjoyed receiving little gifts each time we returned to our cabin. We had a huge list last time, but it was so much fun for her.

We will most likely be flying in the day before and getting hotel rooms near the port, just as we did last time. Since we have a few more in our party, we'll need to figure out the logistics of it all.

I am so happy I get to post on this thread. January can't come soon enough.

We will be flying in on Thursday and staying at AKV until the cruise on Saturday. Have to visit Hollywood Studios to check out the revamped Star Tours!!

Unless airfare is WAY too much, we will be flying in. January, we flew into Orlando, rented a car & stayed at The Country Inn & Suites in Cape Canaveral then took their shuttle to the port. I have nothing bad to say about that hotel. We ended up spending the extra & took Disney transportation back to the airport. Nothing bad to say about that either other than the cost & having to wait all day at the airport for our flight. :rotfl: Still might do it again (but not the long wait in the airport).

Welcome from your northern neighbor in Michigan! I agree January can't come soon enough!

Welcome! Message board is getting some good activity now.
FE sounds like it could be alot of fun. We're cruise newbs but I've found a few forums so we'll read up on it. Still a fari bit of time (unfortunately) before cruise date so plenty of time to research.

Keep your fingers crossed for KSF!

Well, I hate to say this, but we've had to change the date of our cruise so I'm out of this group for meet ups and FE. :(
I hope y'all have a WONDERFUL cruise!!!

My DD10 is looking for a female girl around the same age to become a penpal with before the cruise. Anyone??

Hey Jendon,
Silly question, but are you looking for someone bere the cruise? I have an almost 10 year old daughter, but we aren't telling her about the trip until Christmas. Let me see if I can think of someway to let her be penpals and not tell her about the cruise.

SuzyL- contact me after Christmas and maybe they can at least write once or twice.

Count us in! We just booked this as our first disney cruise and are so excited! We (me, husband and 4 children ages 7,5,4,2) will be cruising after a week at Disney. We will be in rooms 2638 and 2640, and are interested in an FE exchange if one is being organized. Anyone have any advice or tips as this is our first cruise? Thanks:) Come on January!
