1/21/07 Wonder

BillyBob7 and mrsp1030- It's a small world, I attended SUNY-Binghamton from 1980-83. I've heard the area has changed a lot.
Does the "Clinton Street Crawl" still exist?

I attended Binghamton from 1985 - 1989 and it was starting to die down about then. I heard alot about it, but no one really did it. We went to the Rat alot, especially when I turned 21. That was everyone's favorite.

Hello Dis Friends,
I just changed my ressie again from Orlando to Residence Inn Marriott at Port Canaveral! I found a 2BR Suite opening that could fit 5 of us. I guess I will be better off there since it is closer and we won't have to rush out and have breakfast and drive 45minutes to the Port.
Are we all going to wear the Disney Paint Chips(from HOME DEPOT) and put our names on them for the Dis Meet? Mareda suggested you put them in a Lanyard with your key to the world card. I am going to! Thanks Mareda for that suggestion. This is getting very exciting now!
I have my supplies for the door decorations and will be working on them this weekend:thumbsup2
The weather has gotten cold here in Maryland, so I am looking forward to the warmer weather.
Have a great weekend

Question-
As far as using the paint chips from Home Depot for the name tags, is everyone using the smaller Mickey ear cards, or the larger rectangular two-tone cards?

Here's a tip for making the magnetic door signs-

Office Depot sells 8.5x11 magnetic paper that can go in your computer printer for $14.99/package, but Home Depot sells "Magnetic vent covers" that are 8x15 for $6.99/package. They're meant for covering over a/c vents. My daughter hand made our signs using construction paper, and we're gluing half-strips of the Home Depot magnetic material to the backs of them.

Can't wait for the cruise!

(btw, we're on deck 2 cat 10)

hkrsk,
I didn't notice any two-tone cards, I picked up the small ones. Will the other ones fit in a lanyard or not? My husband will probably be at home depot this weekend I will have him get some of both and then we can decide! Thanks for the tips on Magnetic Door signs !

Ours are Mickey heads on cards. Now, where did I put those darn things?

Picked up the magnetic vent covers and mickey mouse paint chips last night at Home Depot. Plan to make the door sign this weekend. (Hubby puzzled by my excitement and plan to make a sign.) We'll be at OKW next week at this time! Yay!

Database,
My husband feels the same way! He is getting involved in the sign making though! Does anyone know any good restaurants for dinner in Port Canaveral?
We will be needing to eat after we arrive Saturday evening. Also what about breakfast the morning of the cruise? Any suggestions for that?
Have a great Sunday and Monday for those of you who are off for the Holiday. It is 55 degrees here today in Maryland and 65 for Monday. I like these mild winters!

Mareda,
Thanks for the tip. It sounds like a great place to eat with a view. Where exactly is that located? Have you eaten there before? Should we all buy lanyards and bring them with us or do they give them to you on the ship?
I read somewhere on this board that they were giving them out for free. Maybe that was just Castaway Cay members. My sons have Lanyards with there pins from the parks that they can wear. I would have to get 3 more for the rest of us.
See you all soon

There are directions to Grills on their website. It's very near the port. I haven't been there before, but heard a lot of recommendations from this board. We were never given lanyards and I am not sure if they are in the current CC gifts. We got them on board in the gift shop. Walmart sells something similar.

I am using the ear cards! Putting my DisName and then my real name underneath so we can remember each others name!

Just finished the door sign! Hubby likes and offers to take picture! (We'll take one of it hanging on the door!)

Thanks for the tip on lanyards! I'm beginning to wonder how many trips I'll be making to Walmart this week.

Cbsprings, I see that you're a DVC owner at OKW. DH and I will be staying there the day before the cruise. We're thinking of having lunch at Olivia's before exploring and hanging out at Downtown Disney. DH has a gluten allergy, Based on what is posted on the boards we're thinking Olivia's would be a convenient choice. Do you know if Conch Flats General store sells milk? He's bringing his own gluten free cereal for breakfast.

Hey everyone, Verandah Man just posted pictures of the Wonder leaving port this afternoon. It's awesome thinking we'll be on the ship next week.

Database,
Conch Flats General store does sell milk and several other food items. Cute little store and gift shop. We've eaten at Olivia's before and had the Chicken Alfredo, it was pretty good considering this isn't one of the fancier places to eat. It is never crowded either. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to stay! Enjoy and "Welcome Home"

Binghamton has definitely died down as far as what others tell me; we have only lived here for 3 years. Mostly lockeed martin and bae systems keep it going. We came from Baltimore so a big change but I am a wv native, so it reminds me of home somewhat. The highs this week are suppose to be in the teens and 20s so cruising is looking better each day!!!

msrp1030-
I presently live in Baltimore, went to college at Binghamton in the early 80's. It'll be interesting to compare notes.

Cbsprings,

Thanks for the OKW info. (:
OKW sounds perfect for what we're planning.

Hi Dis Friends,
Have any of you ever rented the bikes on Castaway Cay?
Do we need tube rentals as well for the beach? Are there lots of fish pecking at your legs? Is anyone doing the Atlantis thing? Either the beach or tour and what is the difference? Does one allow you to only see the aquarium, casino and tour? Does the other not let you use the beach? Have you found any deals directly through Atlantis resort?
OK those are all the questions for now, talk to you all soon!

Flying out tomorrow night (tues.) to arrive Wednesday morning to start our Land/sea vacation at the AKL. Looking forward to meeting all of you on the boat Sunday.

Safe travels everyone. The time we have been waiting for is very close. I wish everyone a WONDERful trip and hope to see soon.

cbsprings - we rented the bikes on CC. There were plenty of various sizes and types. It was a nice ride. They have so many of the bikes and beach gear that you could just rent it when you get there. If the water is too cool for you, you haven't wasted the money (learned that the hard way). We are doing the Atlantis tour, doesn't include use of the beaches. I think the only way you can do that is through DCL (but think you don't get to use the water park) or rent a day room at Atlantis or the other hotel on their property.

Mickey Minder,
Thanks for the biking and float tip.
I just found a room at the Atlantis Beach Club for 159 per night through TravelZoo. It appears that you get to use all the facilities. Sounds like a deal.
