1/21/07 Wonder

There is a thread on the cruise board regarding the recent assault of a 13 year old girl on the Wonder. Anyone with children who is considering skipping the DISmeet, please read it. If the kids stick together and more of us adults recognize the other children from our group, the safer they will be.

I am not sure if my docs contain anything that is attainable by the online check in process - looking through them I see the luggage tags, the Bahamas Immigration tags, and a booklet w/our itinerary and forms that show the amount I paid, room we are assigned etc. My guess, is yes, there are forms you need in this mailing!
I'm sure it's on it way to you too - we booked w/Dreams Unlimited, maybe they do them by travel agent or region or something.
I cannot believe how close we are to sailing!
And Mickey Minder - I didn't read about the assault. I heard on the news this AM of an assault at Universal, but not on a Disney ship! I dont' think I want to hear about that!

Mareda,
Could you please tell us or post the link to the information regarding the assault of a 13yr old girl. That is very disturbing. These are things we should not have to worry about when we are on a Disney vacation with our family! Has anyone else heard any horror stories about Disney cruise ships safety for teens and young adults? Is it safe to let them go to the teen center and the older ones (20yr) to go to the dance club?

My parents recieved our documents at their home in Florida yesterday. We had ours sent there as we won't be home before the cruise. We were actually at Disneyland January 2 and 3. We've been traveling and haven't had much web access but I'll check to see how the plans for the meet are going. I'm really looking forward to this cruise!

MissingFL - where are you from in NH???

We live in Manchester, near the Londonderry line. Hope the weather there isn't too bad right now!

Thanks for the info on the breakfast times. I probably was looking at the last day breakfast. Is anyone else interested in doing the Dis Meet on the ship? If so we still need to figure out what we are going to wear to identify ourselves along with where we will meet. Any ideas would be appreciated. Maybe we can get a certain button from The Disney Store at home before we leave? Just an idea. Or maybe certain color ribbons on our shirts. Let me know your thoughts?

Should I be concerned?

Also, since reading about the assault on the 13 yr old, I just revoked my 11yo's rights to check in and out by herself. Too many sick people out there.

But I'm still psyched! Can't wait for my first Disney Cruise (First any cruise, for that matter!)

I won't be letting my 11 y/o have check out rights either; he probably won't be in the clubs all tha much anyway.
I wouldn't be concerned about the cruise docs - fromwhat I've read on the DISboards, most people get them 2 weeks from the cruise, and that's today!!! Wow, in 14 days from right now, I hope to be having breakfast at our hotel (All Star Movies) and hopping the car shortly thereafter. I have every intention of being one of the first ones on the boat if I can help it! :goodvibes
And I am looking forward to meeting anyone who will be at the DIS meet -should we coordinate one!

A meet for all of us on this thread sounds like fun. I wouldn't know where or when would be a good time, though, since we're new at this.
We also plan on being on the ship early- our plane gets in at 10:15 AM and we plan on hopping right onto the Disney bus, so we're hoping to be on board at noon.

We're really getting hyped about the trip! Just this morning I went out to the dollar store and bought the over-the-door shoe holders, night lights. I also got pillowcases and Sharpies for the autographs, along with Bonine pills, ginger pills, and sea-bands. Last night our DD made our door signs. Am I crazy, or what? I feel like I'm working towards a PhD in DCL!!! It all adds to the fun, though. (Does my wife think I'm nuts? Yes.)

Hkrsk,
Hi, been a while since you been on! Good to hear from you again! Check my post a page or 2 back with my idea about where to meet and let me know what your thoughts are! The more the merrier!

Found your post! We'll be there on deck 10, assuming all goes according to schedule. Hopefully it'll be a nice warm sunny day, and we'll be dripping with pool water!

Hkrsk,

Can't wait to meet you all! Anyone else going to join us? That door decorating sounds like fun, we plan on doing that as well!
:cool1: For those of you who missed this previous post
We meet up on deck 10 mid-ship at 3pm on sailing day. By then just about everyone is onboard and has done lunch etc. Everyone gets to meet when it is fairly quiet, you have about 1/2 hour or so before you need to leave to get ready for the drill. After the drill those who want can meet back up in the same place for the sailaway party.

If we can find you, we'll join you!

I was really worried about the attack--I have DD12 and her friend who is 13. I thought it would be safe if 2 kids were always together. My DS 8 also has friends, ages 8 and 10. (Obviously DD3, even with her friend, is going no where alone!)

But now I'm worried about even letting 2 or 3 kids move around without a bigger group. Should we make all 5 kids stay together (the older girls will just love that).

Rebecca,
I have a son who is 10 and 13. Since they are different ages they cannot attend the same clubs together. My son would love to hang out with kids his age if it is something that we are not doing together as a family. Since this is my first cruise with kids, I am not sure if they are going to be with us alot or not! Be sure to come to the Dis Meet so the kids can meet each other.
I am worried about my College age daughter now!
Hopefully Disney has now taken new precautions and has been made aware of some security flaws.

Dis meet sounds great. I'm not crafty for the buttons, but it's a great idea. I have my mickey paint chip with my Dis name on it. I attach it to my lanyard that I carry my KTTW card in.
Also -
I copied this from another thread:

I called DCL to find out what movies may be playing later this week on the Wonder.

Here is their list:

Cars
Deja Vu
POTC2
Santa Clause 3
The Guardian
Prestige
Invincible

Boy, that countdown ticker is getting close. We head south next Friday. Got a good internet rate at the Hampton Inn for a beach front room.

There are several girls in the pre and earlyteen age range. We could order some movies and pizza if they would like to have a get together.

Yeah!! We finally got our docs today.

One Question:

Were we supposed to receive confirmation of our Palo reservations and cruise excursions? I can see them online, but were we supposed to also get them with our docs?

Thanks.
