We live a little over an hour from the port, about 1/2 hr. from WDW & about 40-45 min. from MCO. Whenever we go down to Cocoa Beach we time it so that when we're ready to leave we can see the
DCL ships go out - usually the Wonder. Sometimes we're on the beach; sometimes on the pier; sometimes at the port. I love to see it going out to sea, but we like to be close enough to hear, "
When you wish upon a star".
There's a place in WVA that we love to stop at whenever we drive up north. It's Summersville (I believe). A nice, friendly, very clean little stop on the highway smack in the mountains like I was used to growing up in PA.
We've never stayed at AKL, but love to go down there occasionally & meander around sitting on the porch & rocking, watching the animals, reading all of the things inside the lodge. It's really a nice resort. We go very often during the C-mas season & look at all of the decorations in all of the resorts. Resort-hopping is something My favorite resort to stay at so far is Beach Club. One of these days we'll try out AKL. WL & AKL are the only two left that we haven't stayed at & we're anxious to do so. There's others we've never been to, but not interested in.
Thanks for the heads-up on the bathrobes. I'm going to try & find some info. on it on the boards & also call DCL to ask about the package & specifically the robes. I really only want them if they have a logo on it. As I said, we're not robe-wearers to begin with, so just getting a plain, old robe doesn't make any sense. We love seeing the cruise line logos on our things.
Let me know what you decide as far as accomodations. It's always fun to try new things. I hear the new resort in Port Canaveral is very nice. We did the Radisson a few years ago before moving down here & that was really nice. The room was spacious, but a bit old, but the pool was terrific & they have shuttle service (although we didn't need it). Is that where you stayed, too?
